Hmmmm. Let's see how Bungie does things now since media impressions are on the negative.
I feel like Skill Up did a good video on this. Anecdotally, everyone I know that has played D1 casually (or flat out didn't like it) hasn't been impressed by the beta.

When the running joke of "it's just another expansion" actually starts to resonate Bungie should actually take notice.

It just seems like they're happy to lean on the existing fanbase instead of take risks and actually push the franchise to the lofty levels they promised in the run up to D1.

Double primaries is gonna be fantastic for doing DPS on raid bosses. /s

Can’t wait to lose all my ammo switching between sniper and rocket launcher.
On the flip side, perhaps there won't be massive DPS phases on bosses that it's necessary to absolutely maximise output. Your power slot could be used for taking out dangerous adds like the captains in WotM before they get too troublesome.

Any idea how this was with D1?

Pretty sure they were up when the game released in Australia and Singapore. I think I bought mine from Singapore actually but I don't think pre-loads were available back then so I didn't play until later at night but it would have still been before US got the game digitally.

After 1,000+ hours on Xbox, I bought OG destiny on PS4 last night... the thirst is too much for me.

Looking forward to grabbing whatever the PS exclusive stuff is (and running the exclusive strike) before D2 hits.

Hey yall. So I had deleted the beta cause I thought it ended last night only to discover it had been extended. So I reinstalled, and this time I was at my PS4 and saw all this amazing art during the install screen. I captured my favorite pictures at 4k on my PS4 Pro then cropped out the concept art and downscaled/cropped to 1080p. This art is just amazing.

Here's the rest. https://flic.kr/s/aHsm1hQR6V

Thanks for these! The upper-left corner of the middle screenshot reminds me of this concept art for Destiny:

So we know 4 of the 10 maps and 4 of the 5 game modes, assuming clash returns.

Yep.

We know there is no rumble, and they can't really do combined arms. I doubt we see skirmish or salvage come back. Possibilities for the 5th game mode are mayhem (popular - especially considering the cooldowns, but it might be a modifier more than a standalone mode), inferno (not popular), elimination (popular, but doubtful as we have two similar modes confirmed) supremacy, or, god forbid, rift.

Oh God please no. No.

Pretty sure supremacy is confirmed.

Countdown
Survival
Control
Supremacy
???

A standard CTF would be good in D1. Not sure how fun it would actually be in D2 with the slower movement.

I mean Rift was CTF with a twist and it seems pretty hit or miss with the community.

This was from Luke, before:

"Quickplay is the place where you're going to find more party games - Control, Clash, Supremacy"
and
"Competitive play has two modes - one we're not talking about right now, and the other is Countdown. These are objective modes...".

Obviously the ? is now Survival, which looks to be the best mode. I was pretty meh on PvP until I saw that today. I'm still not sold on it since it's so slow and repetitive and 1v2+ (aka big playz) is near impossible but I'm still going to give it a chance on release.

Survival is actually my favorite style of team-based PvP! And I loved Countdown, particularly finding Midtown to be a downright great map for it.

Combined with a pace of PvP that is more my speed, I can somewhat foresee myself taking the Crucible more seriously in Destiny 2, even as it is taken less seriously on the whole by those who take PvP more seriously than I do... if that makes any sense.

Whether or not I'll be able to "get anywhere" remains to be seen, but I expected to feel mostly the same about it as I did in D1, and instead feel as though I may put in more effort to improve my skill and teamplay, and minimize my rage. I certainly understand the complaints about the change in design though.
Rumble better be back. It's the best damn game mode.
I do need my Rumble :[

Yeah, I find it hard to believe that Clash won't return. I think the competitive playlist will just be Survival and Countdown, while the casual playlist will be Control, Clash and whatever the third one is.

It's likely a returning mode, which would mean either Supremacy or Rift. I don't think Bungie even likes Salvage very much and Survival is the replacement for Skirmish.

Hopefully it's Rift because Supremacy is already basically just Clash. Rift is different enough.

And yes, Rift is awesome. Get dunked on, haters.

Adjusting to Destiny 2 PVP and Team Shooting

This is the best explanation I've seen about how D2 PvP works now and he nailed how I feel personally about it. I'm so excited for the full game when we get our new comfortable weapons on hand and learn more of the game.

His wording will probably result in some heated backlash but overall I agree with his mindset, which is "This is different, let's get better at what it is now" rather than "This is different, so it sucks. Change it back to what I was used to."

Not expecting it but I really hope proper (i.e. not rift) CTF is one of the game modes. So far they're preaching teamwork, strategy etc but the game modes are still all slayer types.

What I want to fix from D1 is you know when you go into your equip screen, there is a couple seconds delay. In PVP that makes a difference if you want to switch weapons in the middle of a firefight.

This actually has been fixed in D2. It comes up much faster.

So, can I choose to just play Control, or am I randomly going to get modes I don't want to play?

Do you have a link to Luke saying that?

OMG yes. It was slow in the beta too.

It was from one of the E3 interviews I think. A print one.

Edit: Actually I believe it was the podcast Interview with Jason from Kotaku.

Double Edit: Just scanned through it and it's not there. So maybe it was a print interview.

Now that we know Eververse is coming back, Bungie really needs to let us know what's going on with equipping emotes.

I think I speak for every single person who has posted in this thread when I say that if they relaunch Eververse with a bunch of new emotes and we can still only equip a single one, that's absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah I'd actually buy a bunch of emotes if we could use more than 1 custom one

Hey guys, here are two new emotes: "Yes" and "No." They'll be really handy in quick communication with random players.

Also, you can only equip one at a time.

Ah yes, another "adapt" video from a self proclaimed Crucible scholar. Let me just ignore all of the sweaty skirmish games I played that featured teamshooting and teamwork, but not at the expense of killing someone on your own with your primary.

And lol at that montage full of double melees and power weapon kills on bad players. Of course you're going to get easy kills when you're the only one with power weapons.

His Beta review is also worth a read. Especially with the talk of high level players supposedly not liking the changes.

Not surprised fusion rifles are being banned already.
