Started playing this recently and I'm surprised more aren't saying it. Sooooo much fun and it's in a genre that's still innovating and relatively new.

I get the appeal, but it's the most early access-y early access game that I've played. I can't forgive the wide variety of technical issues. Some might say that the jank gives it charm.... No. It's just jank.

I think maybe the reason you aren't hearing much is because not to many people care to discuss game of the year in July.

Unfortunately, it's also the kind of game that's only fun if you play it with friends (IMO).

The zeitgeist on this game is huge, and its only going to get another massive swell when the console version hits.

Winning in pubg is one of the best video game experiences I've ever had. Pure adrenaline.

In a year where we got Automata, RE7, Gravity Rush 2, THREE Yakuza games, *barely audibly grumbling "and persona 5"*? No, I don't think so. And I play PUBG a lot.

Yes, while I love SP campaigns PUBG is my goty for sure. If they don't change a single thing I could still play for years I think, and while I loved P5 and HZD and Yakuza 0 and FFXII, all of those are games I played, finished, and never touched again.

Its also consistently gone from 5-10 in twitch in the last month to #1 or 2, which is absolutely insane.

Yeah seriously its been on a complete upward hill in sales there's no way it's stopping now.

Putting it like that, now I want to see PUBG get GOTY awards.

It will probably make my list, despite simply watching it way more than playing it.

I think it is a definite dark horse contender at a lot of different publications.

I'm not sure it is as popular here on GAF specifically, but I won't be surprised to see it in the top 10.

It's because it is still an Early Access game. It hasn't been officially released plus they are still adding new features and fixes every week or two.

I believe to wait for the final product before we can judge it as a Game of the Year like with other finished products.

Never played it, but podcasts and outlets won't shutup about it that it is a guarantee it will be in the running against Zelda and Mario this year.

Persona is one of my favorite series but it has a ton of problems. It's on my list for sure but that fact that people like me have problems with it doesn't give it good chances.

I don't personally think so, but it's not a hill I'm going to die on. I just think this year has been too strong to give it up to a game with numerous bugs, one map, and still isn't feature complete.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a movie I enjoyed very much, but I wouldn't nominate it for best picture.

It may do well on quite few outlets. GAF not picking a AAA console game isn't going to happen though.

I didn't think Zelda would have been beat but 100 hours later in PUBG here I am.
