Agreed.

And seeing how McConnell apparently burned so much trust and credibility with his own GOP colleagues to get to this point and still come up short, I wouldn't be too surprised if that does happen. Definitely not a guarantee, but it seems plausible.

The one thing I will say is I hate that turtle fuck McConnell far more then I dislike McCain. So if he's gonna stick it to the turtle then I can at least give him the thumbs up for that.

Ronald Reagan did some awful, horrible stuff that is unforgivable, but he signed the first no-fault divorce law in the country while he was governor of California. Doesn't change how I feel about the man, but I take everything into consideration.

No he didn't. And I won't deny that McCain is still a shit heel. But given the situation at the start of the week, this is still the best possible outcome. The scenario where we weren't in this position in the first place became impossible as soon as the elections ended with republicans controlling all three branches

Unless you're meaning a lot of Senators did this behind McConnell's back then I doubt it. It seems like from all we know now, McCain went totally rouge here and shocked the whole party.

I took that into consideration and still to this day wished Reagan's assassin was a better shot.

There's a slightly longer video on YouTube that adds a few seconds in the beginning. The big double-doors on the bottom right open up, McCain emerges, and crushes McConnell's hopes and dreams seconds later.

I'm glad McCain found it in him to do the right thing, but my feelings about him have not changed. He didn't do this because it was the right thing to do, period. He did it for his own agenda and an attempt to salvage his "legacy."

With that said, I don't particularly care about the why he voted against it, just that he did vote against it.

McCain hasn't suddenly become a hero, not by a long shot, but I'll gladly take this win for the people of my country.

Honestly I am all for celebrating at the moment; and yes that includes *thumbsup* for McCain in this moment. However he arrived here (mostly through the incompetence of his fellow GOP members) he voted 'no' and was in the minority of votes for his side. And that killed this thing.

Doesn't excuse past behavior or future fuckery he may get himself into. But in this moment; he didn't take the easy route and vote along his party's line.

So everyone try to breathe, be happy we're back from the brink for a bit. I'm still frankly stunned at McCain's last second flip; but it works and the result matters. Okay I'm rambling I should go to sleep. z___z

McConnell's tears were definitely a this is dead for now tears. Threw it out that it snow upto the democrats to show how they want to fix this. He made sure to hammer the whole most of us honored our pledge to vote for repeal and replace.

As funny as these narratives are, McConnell knew full well that McCain was voting no. This was after they spent an hour begging McCain to change his mind
