Capcom preparing multiple Switch version software after success of SF2

On one hand, I'm glad the game did well for them. On the other, I'm kind of annoyed that they put so much stock on an old game to evaluate things.

I expect to see a couple Switch announcements around TGS when Nintendo has their Fall conference.

3rd dumped a bunch of game on Switch but it seems like the Switch passed all the tests looking how Disgaea 5, Bomberman, USF 2 and co. performed.

On to phase 2....

It warms my heart to know Disgaea 5 sold well in the Switch. How good did it do? Is it in the 500,000 range or lower?

Way lower, Disgaea don't sell that much. But it did really well for what it is. Selling better than the PS4 initial release IIRC.

Here's the tricky part about all this: SF2 released in the perfect window when there wasn't a lot to play. Switch is gonna be getting tons of games soon and won't have that problem. They better port these fast before there's a good variety of games and Switch owners will be less likely to buy.
It came out the same time as Disgaea and a couple weeks before ARMS. It's also among like 15 good-great NeoGeo fighting games on the eShop.

I think more people were in to the nostalgia factor--it's why I bought it. A version of Street Fighter 2 on a cartridge on a new 2-player centric Nintendo console in 2017 seems to be something that resonated with a lot of people. Same (to an extent) with Bomberman. My brother and I have been playing a ton of Switch games because they're like the games we played together growing up. NBA Playgrounds, Bomberman, Tetris, Mario Kart, Street Fighter, etc are essentially 'new' versions of the SNES games we would play.

So I've only ever watched Resident Evil games being played, except an hour or two on my own but I got scared.

I'd love to see the remasters come To Switch!

Switch preorders were higher than PS4 initial sales (preorders + first week or so sales), so that's pretty good.

Got'cha! I'm happy either way. Selling above expectations at the beginning of a console gen is always good for the system library a couple years down the road.

I'm one of those folks that bought SF2.

I can't stop buying Switch games. It's just too damn convenient to be able to play these things on the TV or the toilet. I wash my hands, promise.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Thats not the case - its just a explanation for shareholders. Pretty sure whatever is being announced soon has been in development for quite a while - they just didnt wanna or couldnt launch those titles for the first couple months of the Switch.

They arent the only one...Square Enix and Bamco are in similar spots, though at least they specified already what we can expect from them in the next months.

Upgraded Alpha 3 would be my pick. Not that I own a Switch yet.

such a weird way to do business.

I bought it though. Haven't played it yet.

It's not that weird. They made a lot of profit from an old game, and it showed them the potential of Switch. Win-win for Capcom from a very low stake. You could almost call it savvy, if we didn't already know it was just laziness.

Honestly, Capcom, just get your assess working Resident Evil: The Mercenaries for Switch! Resident Evil in general would make me double/triple dip (4-6, Revelations 2).

I bought USF2 and was pretty happy with it. My only concern is fear of ruining my expensive Switch controllers playing it, since my PS3 stick isn't compatible. As I said in another thread, I expect this game to outsell SF5 by the end of the generation.

Give me RE4 Switch and I'll love Capcom forever.

Expectation: RE4 Switch
Stretch prediction: RE7
Dream: Third Strike, y'all. Scratch that, Street Fighter 3 Anthology. New Generation and Second Impact haven't seen a home port since the Dreamcast.

You folks will never learn. Low expectations are the key here. Lower your expectations. And then lower them again. And then once more with feeling.

The main thing that I would like from Capcom is a Breath of Fire collection. I know that 3 and 4 have never been on anything expect playstation but I'd still like to dream.

I'm also kind of surprised that Capcom didn't have the Mega Man collection ready to go if I'm being honest.

People joke about RE4, but man if I wouldn't love a Wii-control-like HD version or a first-time-portable one

Capcom's game output is no where near what it used to be. I don't expect anything other than ports, which is the one area you can always count on Capcom.

Is that the case? I thought the number came from Capcom, who would add digital too. Did I think wrong there?

The number came from this:

Physical and digital sales are separated into their own list

I'd love an Ace attorney game, bring them back, and you can do the objection gesture with the joy-con. Can't wait!!

Nintendo has never gotten RE 5-7 despite there being somewhat of an audience.
Could be cool if the manage to make RE5 Joy Con compatible (two horizontal Joy Con for multiplayer and two vertical with gyro like RE4 Wii edition)
