Yeah. They are a HUGE middle finger directly into nintendo fans faces. nothing more.
funny that those test officially only seem to appear on nintendo systems (since wii times).
"We have to make sure software is selling on this console, so we will release some sort of spin off or cheap remake no one wants and expects."
It's like:
- Nintendo is a bitch to work with and we have to compete with them, might as well not support their system
- Oh god damn it their new system is selling well, shareholders are gonna be on our asses if we aren't supporting this market
- What can we shit out with minimal investment and effort to surely flop so we can show shareholders our games won't sell on Nintendo platforms so we can go back to the easy money on PS4 and Xbone
Which either leads to:
- Game sells well: Fuck! Now we have to bring more support. What else can we port?
- Game sells poorly: See investors? Now get off our backs.
It's weird to me that Nintendo and Capcom seemingly had such a good relationship from the NES up through the GameCube, with even the Wii getting some original games instead of just ports, then all of a sudden the Wii U is like barren Capcom wasteland and the Switch doesn't even get a collection of
NES roms. Did Nintendo do something that pissed them off?
I would absolutely buy RE4 Switch Edition though. In a heartbeat. I have it but never beat it on GameCube, bought it to beat it on Wii but never did, I would be part of the problem for sure but I feel like I would actually finally beat it if it was on Switch because I'd literally have no excuse not to play it - I can take the damned thing anywhere.
