Forgot Kaijumax S3 #1 was released and just finished reading it.
Great issue overall, seems
Jersey Devil is gonna be the main focus this time and I can only see disaster in his future

What's your favorite and least favorite crossover event and what event do you think had/has the most potential to improve in a different medium a la Civil War to Cap 3? Also what events upcoming are you most looking forward to and dreading? Is there any character/brand (a la Super family or Spider people) that you would want to see helm an event/have an event based around?

Should I just make a thread in OT?

Miracleman is still getting worked on.
”I'm also primarily focused now on getting Miracleman done," he says, with a somewhat sheepish look and a laugh, ”having accidentally ignored it for a little while! The problem is, Neil [Gaiman, the current series' writer] also became a Dad again, and so basically [our children] have been the reason why very little work got done! The good news is that it is coming, Neil and I have been meeting regularly to work on the new scripts together...we've made a few interesting changes, so it's not going to be the exact story we'd intended to tell back in the 80's and 90's, we're now thinking about it in the context of today, and in how the world's changed. Artistically, I kind of went on a bit of a journey, trying out a range of different art styles to try to see what would work best. I had a good twelve, thirteen years on Fables and although I made changes and varied things a bit along the way, it was still primarily a consistent kind of style. I spent a lot of time doing painted covers, different techniques...just trying out new things to see what excited me. The funny thing is, I've probably ended up back at a place which is not so remarkably different from where I was with Fables!"

”With Neil," he says, referring to the creative process behind Miracleman, ”we've always had a good friendship and a nice working relationship. In this case, I'm actually co-writing the scripts for Miracleman with him...so what's happening is we're meeting from time to time and actually going over our plans for the stories and fleshing everything out. It's a fun process, and it's nice to be involved right from the outset on the development of something like this, because the storytelling aspect of it is very important to me. If I'm involved with the plotting and the scripting of the thing, it helps me get a sense of the weight and scale of a story before I sit down to draw it."

Aww that's too bad. Dr. Aphra and Vader have both been so good I've been craving more Star Wars, and I like Poe. But if it's not nearly as good I will definitely pass.

Poe is okay, it's not the best book, but the art is great and were finally seeing the seeds set for how the resistance op operates verus the first order.

Happy birthday Tyrant~
Thank you. It's gonna be a pretty quiet day, but I could use it lol. I got a few comics in as gifts:
Hostage
Killing and Dying
Over Easy

Wanted some more down to earth stuff to read and from what I've skimmed of each they'll do the job well. Nice looking books too. I think one of my friends also got me the trade collecting Dini's Zatanna comics which I've been wanting.
Ty got the best birthday present a boy could wish for last night, he found out Ten Fingers is his dad

Charles can spread his lies all he wants but Tenfingers is NOT my dad

Saw Spider-Man. My Japanese friend wore is Spider-Man suit to the movie, so he was quite popular. I jokingly said in Japanese "Wow, Spider-Man, your Japanese is really good!" with the same tone and diction that is quite often used when Japanese people (unknowingly sometimes condescendingly) say it to foreigners. Got a laugh out of some surrounding people.

I don't have much to say about the actual film. I guess it's pretty much what I expected. There were a few surprises, and I really liked them. I also thought Vulture was one of the best villain portrayals in a Marvel movie so far. I guess I didn't really feel Peter as much as I figured I would, but I still liked the movie.

Hey comic GAF.

So I just read Saga vol.2

I haven't read Y in so long... I forgot how fucking good BKV is.

Issue, 10 maybe?, that starts out with a sequence that had me doubled over in laughter (the one about him coming in her), and the end had me bawling. Incredible stuff.

July's report.
The pace of comics and graphic novel orders by North American comics shops worsened in July, according to data released today by Diamond Comic Distributors. Shipments for comic books, graphic novels, and magazines only reached a little over $41 million. That's down more than 19% from last year's blockbuster month for DC, when the publisher launched most of its Rebirth titles — but it's also down more than 11% from this June. All three of the months mentioned had the same number of shipping weeks.
This is not good.

The big number comes a bit later in the article:

While DC still had the most-ordered comic book in July with Dark Days: The Casting #1, the absence of Rebirth-launch-sized numbers meant the publisher joined Marvel as being behind for the year in North American orders, as measured by retail dollars. Marvel, which has been behind all year long, had accounted for all of the overall Direct Market shortfall in dollar terms up until June; now, with the market down $28.5 million for the year, Marvel represents only 70% of the drop. Marvel pared back its year-over-year losses some in July; while dollar orders were still off, they were off only half what they were in June.

Yeah I read the first story in it and I liked it a lot. Are Tomine's other works as good?

Honestly this is the only book of his I've read. I picked it up on a whim when it came out a couple years ago and loved it, but I haven't gone back and checked out his back catalog.

I've read Shortcomings and 32 Stories. I hated Shortcomings a lot but 32 Stories (which is a collection of the original Optic Nerve minicomics he started doing when he was like 16) is surprisingly readable and it's interesting to see how much he's improving literally every issue.
