No Man's Sky - Atlas Rises |OT| Nada, Polo and you no longer fly solo

I never really paid attention, but does a star system having a certain race affect what type of ships are more common? I've been trying to find a good explorer ship for the past 3 systems with no luck, which were all Vy'Keen systems. Finally arrive at a Korvax system and the first 3 ships that land in the space station are all explorers lol. Would be a nice touch.

I wish the OT2 had been brought back from the community side instead of making this the OT, but I'm happy we even have an OT on the front page again.

Rockets exist now! :]

I haven't seen them anywhere yet :[

I bought the rocket launcher blueprint from a Gek station vendor. I think it was only like 100 nanites.

Got the photos :)

The ships' name is: Bushunat S95
Nice ship!

The same style as the last ship I had before deleting my save for 1.3, no doubt yours would run rings around it with the upgrades you have.
That said, she was such a beauty. She was my first (and only) 48 slot ship. Took a long, long time to find her. Forgive me for posting a few shots:

I ended up getting quite attached to the ships I wound up spending hours with. Here are a couple of the other old faithfuls that came before:

Makes me want to make a ship appreciation thread.

I have to admit, I have become addicted to this game since the update. Haven't even left the system yet because of all the mission my recruits give me and all the new blueprints, materials, vehicles and weapons I get from them.

Really wish they'd put in a vignette toggle for those people unable to mod like PC. The pictures would look a lot cleaner without it.

Haven't left the system I had just arrived in prior to the update, either. Wild stuff.

There's no way to save your ships somewhere or something? I mean, if you can built a base, it would be nice to have an hangar to hold all your ships. I also had to part ways with my first ship (re-named 'Epona' lol) and wished I could retrieve it later :(

Just had a quick Google and confirmed that you can summon your exocrafts on other planets than your base. Wasn't sure on that but that makes me really want to find a planet I'm happy to call home soon so I can start to unlock that stuff.

If you have a Freighter you can store up to six ships. These were pre-1.3 though and I nuked my save for it. By the time I owned a freighter I'd already settled on the last one I used.

Now that the base glitch has been fixed I think I'm gonna focus on finding a new planet to call home.

My current home planet (my first) was so beautiful when I landed on it, a wet planet with lots of grass and pretty trees, raining just before sunset. Strangely, there are absolutely no animals, and also when I went to locate a base building, it sent me on the opposite side of the planet and it somehow didn't have the aesthetics I fell in love with. I kind of want a planet with animals if I'm gonna spend time there, so I can work toward finding them all, and even doing animal-based missions there.

I only did one single base mission so I've barely started. But I want to find a new home before I continue. I found an icy planet with crazy resources and over 10 animal types but the storms are brutal. Hopefully I'll find a nice spot soon.

Time to save for a Freighter I guess; which I imagine are frigging expensive :(

How easy is it to get everything you need to use the Stargates freely?

Well, can't say at this point. I can tell you that prior to 1.32 I haven't found a single Glyph in the caves. And I went to a few planets to actually look.

Now if you meet a certain... "person"
Traveller species
in Space stations/Trading Ports/Shelters, you can give them Nanites in exchange for a Glyph location. In theory, this should a help a lot. The problem is that meeting said person is also a fairly rare occurrence and you are by no means guaranteed to meet one in any set interval.

In short, it will take a while.

Spoilers for beginning of the storyline:
Oh man, I just connected to Artemis with the long-range signal and damn Hello Games, I am ecstatic that there's content like this in the game. The lore in the game was interesting before but hard to put together so I'd typically abandon it in favour of my own, but this already has me wanting to understand more of my place in Euclid and the wider universe.

Visiting different planets with the aim of erecting more signal boosters is such a great way to tie exploration into the story. Can still inject bits of head-canon into it as well by climbing the mountains to reach a high point for them.

The writing throughout the game is so much better and I love the smarter UI prompts. Really enjoying just interacting with everything so much more. Also, unrelated but the new analysis visor is awesome, feel like the start of Empire Strikes Back on snow planets.

Time to save for a Freighter I guess; which I image are frigging expensive :(

Just the odd 100-250m lol.
I'll be sticking to crashed ships and exocrafts for awhile.

Finally got to dig into this new update the last few days, really enjoying it. I have quite a bit of resources and money saved up so I was able to build a new base and buy some new ships right out of the gate. Starting up the new story, I really want to get a portal up and running so I can visit the Galactic Hub.

New base came together quick, also found an all red A Class Fighter with 37 slots (+11 tech slots!) in the same solar system.

New base planet has these big Dragon(fly)s all over, pretty sweet.

New S-Class ship and found one of the new exotic planets.

If anyone is interested in the system I found that model of s-class ship or wants to check out my base.

I haven't experimented with this yet but I've been going a lot to Gek systems these past couple of days and the majority of the ships were Haulers.

Finally finished my base in my new home planet.
Its still has room to add more stuff as its at 85% complexity, but for now its complete for what i need.

The base consist of a central room with some Hydroponic Trays and variety of plants. The room connects to 5 Bio-Domes that are growing the plants needed to craft Liquid Explosive. In its curret state it makes 8 million per hour.
On the top floor is just a room for the vista and some decorations, the room connects to a Landing Pad that i keep free so other ships can park there so i can buy stuff from them if i need. (usually thamium to craft warp cells)

In front of the main base is my warehouse with 9 storage containers inside.

I tryed to make a underground garage for the Roamer, and it was working great, from the central room that has a stairs up, i made also a staircase down with the lenght of around 6 cubes deep in the ground. Then there was a door that leaded to a garage with rocky walls and could even summon the roamer underground, the exit was all underground untill a bit far from the base, the problem is every time i returned to the base the framerate freezed for some seconds and the cave geometry tried to remember how it looked like, one time i entered do fast that the geometry was still loading and my roamer fell trought the grownd. So i ended up reloading a previous save without any cave. But it looked really cool. Pitty the game engine is not polished enough to make it possible to wotk without framerate issues or geometry loading.

Just died for the first time while in my ship and.. there's no grave icon. Did they change this? Can't see it anywhere on the HUD. Playing on normal, had some things I'd rather get back.

edit: Weird. I toggled to the Atlas questline (I chose no for now so figured it wouldn't have any mission markers) from the one I was on and it appeared. Switched back and is still there. Will report it to HG.

Already loved this he but I feel like it's really something special now.
Gorgeous planet with a photo to suit. Lovely share.

Wow, how are people not running into the construction limits with stuff that flashy? PC voodoo?

As I think I'm pretty far along the main traveling story and I'm at the final Atlus trip, I'm going to finish this stuff up before finding a new planet for a better base. Something with bubbles would be nice, or one with those weird hexagonal things. Admittedly anything would be an upgrade over my current 100% barren home planet. Still going to be hesitant to leave my immediate neighborhood since I have locations for all the rare elements researched and figured out. Except kelp. Screw kelp. The. Worst.

No, the Grave Icon should appear. Died yesterday and I wasn't until I got a littler farther from the Space Station that the icon appeared.

Yeh, just made an edit. When I switched to a mission with no markers it appeared. Stays now. Must be a minor weirdly specific glitch, going to report it to HG.

So I stumbled upon a weird geometric planet that was classified as forsaken. the only structures on it were these gigantic rings. Each of these rings has a terminal which contains some lore. there was 21 messages in total before they started repeating

Love the new thread title, and the new patch notes. Hopefully it'll go online tomorrow on PS4.

btw, 1.3 ruined the textures on my beautiful ship (Pre - post patch)... Did it happen to anyone else?

That's so weird. I have avoided landing on planets because they say "scorched" and stuff like that, I'm probably missing something awesome.

Freighter Captains,

You're own your own. Every time I show up, I take out all these guys messing up your expensive ship, and sure, on occasion you might pick up a stray laser blast here and there, but that's no reason to deny me entrance to collect my reward. Take a bit off the top to get the hull polished and we'll just call it even.

But until then, you're on your goddamn own

Has anyone tried playing this remote? I am going on vacation for a week and could bring my Vita if it would work well. Or just stick with my Switch.

The crashed freighters are cool, but I did wish there was more then 1 crashed freighter model. Kind of sticks out compared to all the otherwise procedural generated stuff. I hope they improve on that.

I'm 4900 units of Thamium9 away from my Platinum in this game...

Guess I'll spend my whole Saturday farming it in my homebase planet. Hopefully some traders have it in stock as well.

I already found 5 diferent types of those planets. They all are labeled as "Forsaken" or "Abandoned" (i found a 3rd label that i dont recal the exact name, but cleary stated the planet had no life on it)

All planets have alot of those rings with the lore. I tryed search for a home base on one of them and its possible to build a base on those planets too. I dont think thers others alien building on them like the normal planets.

Dude, buy it from pilots as they come into freighters. Each carries usually 125-200.
Yeah, i always buy my Thamium, and depending of the solar system economy, you can find traders selling 1000 - 2000 thamium. They increased alot the quantities of the materials being sold.

I have had zero luck with them, to be honest. I think I've seen only one or two actually have it in stock, and in very limited quantities :/

I think that source was nerfed. Now asteroids yield just a few units of Th9 at max.

Just warp to a new solar system. I dont remember what kind of economy was the solar system, but i found one that the traders could sell around 2000 of thamium, plutonium, etc.

So just realised I've been being stupid in the new update. There's a vignette option in the photo mode settings that allows you to set it to 10% which gives you this:

There ya go! Beautiful.

Keep the base pics coming guys, I'm getting some nice inspiration from them. Planning things in my head to try when I get my own going.

Just getting back into this since it first launched. Found a ship I like, but the colors are terrible. Have they implemented a way to repaint your ship?

Man, I hope it comes soon. I don't care about planetary rotation or multiplayer, but I would LOVE to customize my boat.

Freighter Captains,

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion. The rewards aren't really worth the effort and resources anyway. Kind of unbelievable they haven't fixed this, I bet it's happened to just about everyone who has tried to help a freighter out. It's assumedly as easy as Friendly Fire = Off when in red alert mode. Maybe HG is working so hard on putting features in that they don't have time to really play their own game.

The crashed freighters are cool, but I did wish there was more then 1 crashed freighter model. Kind of sticks out compared to all the otherwise procedural generated stuff. I hope they improve on that.

I didn't even notice, but you're right, it's that same one in all the pics (still haven't seen one myself). At least I know which freighter not to purchase! I suppose they couldn't just use the existing proc gen system because the freighters in space aren't built to break apart like that, so building a static model was the quickest path. Maybe if later on they actually become explorable, then making them different would make more sense (it would also be nice if freighters had different layouts and aesthetics).

btw, 1.3 ruined the textures on my beautiful ship (Pre - post patch)... Did it happen to anyone else?

On first glance, it doesn't look like your textures actually changed, it's just the overall change to the visuals. I'm assuming that old pic is pre-Path Finder? In Path Finder they added filters and changed the default look. The closest filter to the old look is Vintage, but that doesn't accurately reproduce the original look (unfortunately). So try changing the filter to Vintage and see if the ship colors look a bit more desaturated and pastel-ish like it used to.

That feeling when you're getting ready to replace everything, but you're not sure you want to.

My primary ship since forever. C class explorer with nothing remarkable except a full compliment of standard slots.

My base. The planet was formerly a paradise, but now it's an acid raining hellhole. All kinds of patchwork to fit in technicians again and trays to complete certain quests.
Overview
Front (freighter overhead)
Upper Tower (sullen vehicle technician in a glass box)

My next base may be dome city, but also contemplating building on a radioactive planet so I can plant Gamma Root outdoors. Looking likely that my freighter will be an Explosives farm and my base will be dedicated to Living Glass. Almost done with the new base quests. Just one or two more vehicle segments.

PS You can still use your most expensive ship to upgrade your crappy ships. I used the ship pictured above to purchase a 'B' class hauler for free. Took that ship to my freighter, swapped for a poor fighter, brought the fighter back down next to my Explorer and swapped for free. That effectively gave me ~10 ship slots and a much nicer ship for free.
