Isn't it technically Future Trunks fault for not telling Gohan? So really you should want Gohan to kill/ erase Future Trunks.

Also it's technically his schools fault, and Pan's fault, he didn't go to the U6 tournament, so it'd make more sense to Gohan to get his school/ Pan erased.

By this logic Gohan should have teamed up with U9 as a way to thank them for getting his fighting spirit back.
I mean sure
But you can just blame the writers for fucking him over instead.

Let's be real... Yamcha never was considered for a spot at all. He's the dragonball equivalent of Jerry from Rick and Morty. Well I guess Yamcha coined that role first so there's that.

Then I demand we get the Crombopulus Michael of Dragon Ball.

The ToP stopped being a Battle Royale after the first couple of episodes, now it justs consists of members of Universe 2,3,4,9,10 and 11 standing around fighting no one and waiting their turn to be fed to U6 and U7 as fodder and used as hypefuel.

Only 3 out of the 37 eliminations so far have come from non U6/7 members, fucking 3. How the fuck is that even possible in a supposed Battle Royale? The fodder should atleast be eliminating each other whilst waiting to be fed to U6/7. Toei are fucking hacks.

Well, everyone mostly hates U7.

Eh, U2 and U3 don't have personal reasons to hate U7. Neither did U10.

It was mainly U9, U4 technically because of his feelings towards Beerus, and U11.

U2, U3, and U10 could have benefited more from fighting each other instead of going for U6/ U7.

Wasn't it stated that all the gods were angry because Goku basically accelerated certain erasure for the universes. If that's not a good enough reason... i don't know what is.

And yes i know Goku saved one, but the GoD's still think the listed way.

17 interrupted U2's transformation and kicked two of its members, so now they have a reason to hate and target U7. And the Yardrat at least fought that one guy from U10.

U10 in particular is pretty sad because the three non-U6/U7 eliminations were against their members and Toei couldn't even be bothered to throw them a single bone for themselves.

Every time someone says something positive about the ToP I just get this terrible urge to interject with "BUT UNIVERSE 10". And that just ain't healthy.

I meant before U2 picked a fight with U7.

That Yardrat fight didn't exactly last long.

I still think U2 has a lot we haven't seen yet. At least one more transformation for Ribrianne, and I'm sure the Yardrat has some stuff up his sleeve.

U10 almost took Basil out.
They were built up as the "muscle will win" universe. I'd be pissed if they got a win tbh, they don't deserve any.

that would actually mean something if any of the fighters actually brought it up besides the doggies and Toppo

Oh okay then. Yup, I would rather see fights like 18 vs rabbit girl or Yardrat vs U10 guy instead of Goku joking around. And there's stil U2 shadow-y fighters from their introduction.

U10 also almost took Kale out. Too bad Caulifla rescued her :p

U10 was set up to lose the moment we saw the team and U10 god talking about it's all about muscle. They were the favorite to go first even with U9, which everything kept insisting for months that they would be erased before the tournament even started.

This better happen.

It was stupid how they sidelined him in the U6 arc too, they couldn't even have him participate in that party episode where Beerus dresses up as Monaka for some reason :/

Gohan is a very overrated character with the most annoying fanbase next to Vegeta. They're like the middle age people who keep trying to received their 'glory days'. In the case of Gohan, it's the Cell Games and Ultimate Gohan, and mourning how he never became the main character to replaced Goku because Toriyama changed his mind.

Even the episodes I like, my least favorite parts are Goku. Nothing comes from it. At least in the latest episode Hit showed some development, Toppo showed some development, Goku just existed in his own bubble where everything is fine. The one time Goku showed some development, he cheated and stole lines from 17. That isn't even a knock at Goku. I want to like him in this tournament. I liked him in the exhibition. I want him to react in ways that are new for Goku.

To be fair, one of them was already humiliated by Frieza, considering Frieza didn't find him worth throwing out/ torturing.. Where do you go from there?

I thought that scene was cool when she beat down those 2, it's someone caring about their teammate, which we haven't seen much of. :( I liked the music as well.

The lobster guy should have stayed in longer, and taken out Tien. I'll compromise there.

That doesn't make it look any better, though. It's still terribly boring to watch it play out that way.

It seems the episodes got some mixed reactions but last week and this past week were great episodes IMO. Last week it felt weird everybody and their mom were using Hellzone Grenades. Goku saying he copied Rosie when Piccolo was doing that same shit years ago was a weird moment. As for this past weekend, there were def some obvious "gotta stall for time" moments which hurt the pacing a bit but otherwise I loved the episode. Hit for DBFighterZ please! I think some of the complaints about the return of SSG are fair but I'd be lying if I said I cared that much?

As for the one of the current topic of conversation regarding the nature of the Battle Royale and the Tournament of Power, I think there is an argument to be made that there should have been a few more arcs in other universes before the tournament to give us some time to get some of the extended cast better. However, given that didn't happen, I can't say I care at all that U6/U7 are hogging the limelight. No-name jobber from Universe X vs No-name jobber from Universe Y isn't interesting. I want to know at least one of the combatants in a fight to get invested. Since Universes 6 and 7 have had the most build up, it makes sense they would dominate and battles where they are involved are more interesting. Hit vs. Dyspo is interesting because they've spent some time building up Hit (and I guess Dyspo too). Some fight between rando from Universe 3 and rando from Universe 4 just has a limit to how intersting it can be if you haven't taken the time to build up the characters. Them the facts. Again, it probably would have been better to spend more time before the ToP building up other universes but since they didn't.....*shrug*

It's your own fault for thinking U10 was going to do anything when the show made it perfectly clear it was team fodder. They actually did better than I thought since they had one member who can fight base form Gohan, a lot of their knockouts were bad luck, and they lasted several episodes after U9 bit it.

Not really. Most of the reactions I saw were positive. This site is actually the most negative I have seen and it's mostly around Super Saiyan God Goku or just Goku in general who this forum decided needs to die. Also, this forum adores Gohan, so anything that involves him in any regard is viewed positively.

Gohan got his revenge for being sidelined in the Trunks arc. Now it's time to finish off U6.

Not sure how Gohan getting the worst fight against U6, in which the show actually bends how Botamo's power works for Gohan's Kamehameha to knock him out of the ring, is 'getting his revenge'.

I mean, didn't they hype up Gohan by the end of RoF by saying he will train once again? (You even see him training with Piccolo and he says he wanted to enter the tournament). You can't blame people for being disappointed when they tease Gohan and then do nothing with him for two full arcs.

Lmao I feel you on that.

That guy was weird. His first moment was being awesome by not getting knocked out by Basil, then you have him being played with by Freezer, and then he tortures Kale for a while only to end up getting knocked out.
Him and Piccolo.

Piccolo needs to beat the other Namekians. I accept nothing else.
Even Piccolo's LatAm VA wants him to get some action. Don't fail us, Toriyama!

Difference of opinions. Actually we met halfway. Combination of opinions is more appropriate?

The U10 guy Tien took out was boring. Same for the Yardrat knockout.. They were one shotted and it didn't add anything new to their development, or storywise. The Parrot was hyped up in the NEP, so I'll add that to the boring category. Same for the one Cabba knocked out. So sure, half of them were wasted, and boring as a result of that.

The U10 guys Gohan and Piccolo took out were fleshed out, with Piccolo's being a little less interesting than Gohan's, but they were both important to the plot and Gohan's character growth, which is more interesting to me than the fights themselves.

The big U10 guy, and the lobster guy were interesting to me because they fleshed out Caulifla's and Kale's relationships more.

The one Frieza took out progressed him as a character with Vegeta.

The fairy girl was a necessary first knockout, and I thought her little skirmish with Basil was fine enough.

From the perspective of wanting them all to have great fights, I understand the frustration, but a Battle Royale was never the place for that. I care more about how this develops characters, how it progresses character interactions. That's personally more exciting to me.

Wasn't that guy (The Preecho or something like that) from U3?
Maybe.
Cabba and Tien have both taken out a U3 member? I feel your frustration now. They must be purged by the robot universe.

Cabba's the worst  didn't feel earned at all. It was some BS just to give him some points in the tournament. I would rather have those given to another Universe at least.

Okay, hold up, you guys got this backwards.

It's up to Toei (and Toriyama, and Toyotaro) to make them a team worth rooting for from the get-go. The fact that they were uninteresting contributes to the problem I'm having with the tournament in general, which is that they created a bunch of fodder to be thrown out unceremoniously and aren't treating a battle royale over universal survival with the gravity it should be treated with.

Whether or not U10 is interesting in its current incarnation is immaterial to me. I think they SHOULD have been interesting, they SHOULD have been at least something resembling a contender, and that there is absolutely no excuse for any participant in this tournament to have zero kills at the end of it.

No. Gohan getting back in shape after he slacked off isn't 'hyping' him up. That's him getting back in shape so when he does fight again, he would be more useful and everyone knew that Gohan asking was a bait and switch since the line-up for U7 was known for over a month.

No he didn't. Everything we saw from Hit we saw in the Champa Saga and in Episodes 71 and 72. There was nothing new from Hit except him being challenged by someone who isn't Goku. That isn't really development.

It's also weird with " I want him to react in ways that are new for Goku", yet he didn't reaction differently in the exhibition matches. It was only the fandom that acted differently towards Goku since they thought 'he should care', when nothing in Goku's history showed that he would.

They weren't supposed to be a team worth rooting for, that's the point. What you're saying is that you wanted them to be written to be worth rooting for, which isn't the same thing.

They really didn't need two joke universes, U9 was enough.

I remember when people thought U7 would be one of the weakest universes, if it wasn't for Jiren no one else would have a chance at taking down all the powerhouses of U7 unless separate universes all started working together.

Brianne needs to pull another form out of her ass if she wants to beat 17.

U9 wasn't really a joke since they put out the best performance at the start of the tournament. What screwed U9 over was their grudged against U7 and they tried to attack Goku with the full force of their team. The moment they did that, they sealed their fate.

People who thought 'U7 would be one of the weakest universes', wasn't paying attention. Goku and Vegeta alone would have made up the different for the weaker characters since we have seen people on their level to be a handful. Just looked at the gods' reaction when Goku went Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan and how Goku and Vegeta alone nearly soloed U6. Add to that, 17 and Gohan got major power boost and Frieza was a force even before we found out that he actually got stronger.

Unless those other universes had several 'god-tier' characters, U7 had the advantage. The one favorite was U11 who fans hyped up thanks to Toppo and Jiren, and despite losing most of their members, their gods are still sure that they can win.

Yeah I thought/hoped the Magical Trio would have consisted of strength to be serious threats like Toppo, Hit, etc...

One of them proved to be an even match with 17, so they're not that weak. They're just not 'broken-tier'.

Yes, that's... that's what I've been saying this whole time?

I don't understand why you keep doing this. It's obvious I'm speaking for myself here. There's this weird incessant need you seem to have to be incredibly exacting in all conversation, and that's making participating in this thread kind of tiresome. Do you really care that much to be objectively correct that you must interject with this sort of tripe at every opportunity?

Like, the entire thrust of my argument is completely subjective. I never once claimed otherwise. I don't like the way they're handling things and I'm merely articulating the reasons behind why I don't like them. "Correcting" me by clarifying the intent of the staff is entirely meaningless when the intent does absolutely nothing to improve my enjoyment of the show.

At that point, the gods commented that they were surprised such a strong fighter came from a low ranking universe like U7, which seemed to imply that higher rankings would have stronger fighters more often. Of course, now that doesn't seem to be the case. It's all basically random.

It wasn't, read the comments again. They were shocked that a mortal not only had god ki, but a power that 'rivaled the gods'. Nothing about being shocked that a mortal from a low ranking universe was that strong. The only person who mentioned mortal ranking and low level universe was the Grand Priest in regard to Gohan and Lavender's fight.

It's the same thing Gowasu said when he saw Super Saiyan 2 Goku fight Zamasu.

I can handwaved a lot of this personally, but only because U7/U6 already had a tournament before this. The short time frame to recruit is fucking everyone else pretty bad. Just imagine if Beerus had to recruit a team before Battle of Gods or, even worse, the Buu saga. U7 would've been the first eliminated if it wasn't for Goku's love of sparing & befriending enemies.

Jesus,

How can Segundo fail to realize that what he calls "babysitting" is Piccolo's development with Gohan as second father coming to a new level...this is your character man!

He needs to fight yes, but him treasuring Pan is an amazing conclusion for his character arc with Gohan

Reminds me of the people mad at Vegeta for loving Bulma and Trunks now...

Hopefully the U6 Namekians will open more possibilities for Piccolo.
Can you imagine Piccolo leaving with the U6 Namekians after the ToP is over, and then coming back a couple of years later as a newborn fighter?
Then like 30 or so episodes after Piccolo left, a new arc begins: "Universe 6 in danger! An SOS call from the Namekians!"
:p

I mean I would considerar that as hyping him up to contribute something for the next arc :p Wouldn't hurt if he was there, it's not like Buu amounted to something.

I see what you mean (Piccolo's relationship with Pan is adorable <3) but they can have both. At least Vegeta has been a major player in every arc so far.

That is how I feel.

I want Gohan and Piccolo to be less depended on each other. Let Gohan go off on his own and fight his own battles, while Piccolo goes off and reminds people that he was once a serious fighter. (I don't really count his fight with U10 since, as it has been pointed out, U10 was set up to fail.)
