Giant Bomb |OT31| I Think it Might Be for Show

lol Alex just sitting in his corner while Vinny is down and Dan is in a firefight right nextdoor. wyd bud. He's a deer in the headlights any time anything happens in this game.

I compiled this data here on PS4 game completion for the Game Informer podcast and thought I would share it here too in case anyone is interested. I also included the HLTB time for the main story. Just a random selection of games from the last couple of years after they asked how many people completed Persona 5.

What Remains of Edith Finch -- 69.5% -- 2 hours
Uncharted 4 -- 42.7% -- 15 hours
Titanfall 2 -- 37.1% -- 6 hours
Persona 5 -- 31.8% -- 94 hours
The Witcher 3 -- 30.4% -- 47 hours (yeah right)
The Last Guardian -- 30.4% -- 12 hours
Abzu -- 29.5% -- 2 hours
Yakuza 0 -- 25.6% -- 31 hours
Doom -- 24.4% -- 11 hours
The Witness -- 22.6% -- 18 hours

Average completion time for these games: 31.36 hours. So really Persona 5 did pretty well all things considered.

watching the latest Murder Island, Alex seems preeeeeetty bad at PUBG. like he just has no game sense at all?

Yep, it was frustrating to watch. He was rarely supporting the team, slow to react, and played scared the whole time, and as I said before, watching him hug that tree for awhile (near the end of the stream) was boring.

I mean, whatever, I like Alex, but I really wish we could watch these from Jeff's perspective.

Quick Look: Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Turning cranks, taking cover, and murdering folks... Just another day of treasure hunting for Brad and Jeff.

Really looking forward to the game. Should arrive to me tomorrow night.

Since Abzu was a PS+ title that probably royally screws the percentages, I bet there are tons of people who will fire up those free games every month, play for a few minutes then bail if they don't like it.

Yeah that's true. Whoops! Still it is crazy though because I think it's a great experience and also only 2 hours.

I got a SNES Classic preorder! Anybody else?

Got one in-person at a GameStop.

Happy I just impulsively just got an Uber and went; realized I should have called beforehand on the ride over but once I got in line it seemed like they were just telling anyone who called (which was constant) that they only had the 10 and there was already a line, so no guarantees.

In the Madden QL -

Vinny - "How do I take a knee?"

Alex - "Just run."

Vinny makes it ten yards out of the end zone.

He was set up from the beginning!

idle thought: did they ever get around to covering or even looking at Va11-Hall-A? I think this was about the time Austin was leaving so it kinda just got skimped over. It was 100% his jam though.

God, I don't even think i've ever heard him mention it before it.

He's made reference to it on Waypoint Radio and his site had an article about depictions of sex workers in games, with Va-11 Hall-A as one of the article's case studies. He didn't say a whole lot about it, but it seemed like he had played it and enjoyed it.

cool. beans

i'm finally getting into it after picking it up a year ago and it's the bees knees. not much gameplay though, it's effectively a visual novel with a bare minimum of interactivity, but it's really good writing.

Y'know, speaking of Rabbids, I'm realizing I only ever saw the Ubisoft conference start while I was walking to a train station.

Think I'll rewatch the Rabbids part now while I heat up dinner; I remember their reactions being pretty good.

And also Miyamoto's gun.

Watching the MatterFall QL. I think this might have been the book Vinny was thinking of? Screenwriting spin on the Campbell monomyth. That kind of stuff can be an extremely useful reference, but man, some of my screenwriting instructors in college leaned on it so hard that things became almost paint-by-numbers. Trying to reverse-engineer a story from a preset outline can be so damn lifeless.

Alex later said that he didn't know the button to take a knee so it was easier to just run instead of taking the touchback.

Just standing in the end zone works the same though, or running out the back of it (as long as you didn't already go out the front).

I just think it's funny. I highly doubt Alex was really trying to fuck him over.

Yeah running out the back is the way I always do it if I don't know how to take a knee.

Abzu is maybe the prettiest game I've ever seen.
Speaking of a game people say is pretty, holy shit did I hate Proteus. Fuck fuck fuck that game. I fucking hate Proteus more than Vinny hates Flower. I get a huge headache just looking at Proteus. I get angry just walking around in Proteus. I can't fucking stand listening to anything in Proteus.

Fuck Proteus.

I was right; that was worth rewatching.

I've purposefully not watched more than the press conference stuff though (despite reading details from further coverage), which... is something I don't usually care about doing besides for super story focused games? I dunno. There's something about this that makes me want to be surprised by it for better or worse.

Rewatch what?

i'm watching some CPD vids and man it really makes you appreciate what modern day streaming/online video setups look like. I think this goddamn video was recorded on a laptop webcam capturing a frame every .3 of a second and nobody bothered to redo the audio levels

i mean i guess the audience for this doesn't give a shit but there is such a thing as video production quality
