Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

Nah, there's some light gore on some of the ghosts in bits and a scene in the beginning where a janitor beats a student trying to run away with a bat (but no excessive gore to this) which is probably how intense it gets violently (though there's some imagery like a person hanging from a noose or so), an ending where two characters hold hands but they don't even get to kissing or anything.

The janitor and the ceiling ghost, omg 2 kewt

Definitely going to have to pick this up. I got my hands on a playable copy of the original for PC... it was scary and also very different to anything I had played at the time, it was just janky as hell. Hopefully this isn't that so much

So would this be considered the definitive version of the game now, or should I still play the 2001 version as well?

I think we'll need to wait on more impressions from people who played the original once they get their hands on this version, but this sounds like a pretty faithful remake from the original team that adds plenty of new content and puzzles. So unless it gets to be "too much" or something, I can't imagine it would disappoint in comparison to the original.

Developers posted on their social feeds there was one miscommunication with them and the publisher, the game I guess is releasing on Steam/PS4 in three and a half hours from now (or 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST).

Ah, thanks for looking into that, Dusk! The communication has... not been great.

How in the living fuck does costume DLC COST MORE THAN THE MAIN GAME? How is there even DLC for a 15 year old game?

And day 1 DLC, too.

Hard to support business decisions like this...

I can't decide which difficulty to play on.

Hahaha, yeah, I feel similarly. I suspect Hard will be a lot for me to handle, maybe too much, but at the same time I don't want to willingly opt out of seeing all the content the game has to offer by choosing a lower difficulty (baring in mind that you can't see all the content in one playthrough anyway).

I think I'm gonna record my playthrough though, which leads me to believe I have to play it on Hard. Hahaha

My game has been shipped from ozgameshop 2 days ago.

Yep!

https://www.videogamesplus.ca/white...nus-soundtrack-ps4-free-shipping-p-24743.html

But confusing the release schedule further, it lists 08/29 despite shipping mine today.

Hahahahaha, what is happening?? Eh, whatever. We'll get it when we get it, I guess.

Did anybody see more reviews go live? Since it's a smaller title without much marketing (outside of GAF, haha) I imagine it won't see reviews on a ton of the major sites but hopefully it gains traction with the Let's Play community.

There seem to be a bunch of negative reviews in Korean on Steam. They're mostly talking about how this is a port of the mobile version and it suffers because of it graphically and gameplay wise. Also saying it's buggy and only worth it if you're really nostalgic for the original, and at this point it's better to just wait for the sequel. Any impressions here?

I do not understand what is going on with the retail version:
02jqVKQ.png

The cheapest version is going to be released in September and distributed by Badland Spain. Whereas the other version is 5€ more expensive, distributed by Badland and still says it is going to be released this month.
And some people say in this thread their copy has already been delivered. Why should I wait a month?

They are killing my hype to be honest. I am about to pass on this one because of this mess.

Even the digital version on psn is a mess. The preorder page for EU has been up for awhile, yet the game was supposed to vome out yesterday in US and the page for it isnt even up.

Its infuriating

Most english reviews seem pretty positive so far. Those korean reviewers must jave obscene expectations lol

-There's some minor bugs I've encountered, though the original game had minor bugs too. HOWEVER, the game has been patched three times since I started laying and actually was patched one more time just as I was typing this down, and they've been solving every bigger bug I've encountered so they are working at fixing all the bugs which makes this a neutral point for me. Like I had typed up some minor bugs I had run into but then they patched the three biggest ones I ran into already. The only two minor ones I encountered then is some funny instances of leaving a door open somewhere, triggering a cutscene and the door is still open and the characters walk right through it, which happened once and is more of an amusing bug than anything, and when you talk to characters their animation cycle immediately jumps to some frame, which is a bit janky but not a big deal.

.
I wish they were that dedicated with actually releasing the game on ps4 :/

I think what pisses me off the most now is the fact the PS4 version was only delayed to coincide with the PC version. Now, not only is it coming out after EU, its a week after PC.

I normally try not to bag on pc players but jesus christ

Thanks for the thorough impressions, Dusk Golem. Overall it sounds like you feel it's superior to the original then (with some concessions)?

What going on with the ps4 release date? I swear there are like 5 different date, at least.

I was confused also since I pre-ordered a physical copy on Amazon and it says it isn't coming until the 25th of September. Which I think is absurd.

In the questions section on Amazon it seems the developer commented on this actually this is what they stated:

"Hey, let me jump in and just address the question about the release date. So, the release dates are as follows:
22nd Aug - Steam
25 Aug - EU PS4
29 Aug - US PS4
However, as noted the Amazon release date in America has been pushed back to Sept. That was out of our (PQube's) hands and not something we requested. In America White Day is still launching on 29th Aug on PSN, and VideogamesPlus.ca is shipping retail copies (with the soundtrack CD too) for/from launch. It's only the Amazon supply that's available later on due to gremlins"

So basically looks like they don't even know, but buy it from somewhere else if you want it on time?
