That Taylor Swift shit was hilarious. Korey was dying laughing when they were looking at the courtroom sketches. Never seen him laugh that hard before.

Korey gets way too defensive about his opinions sometimes. Especially when he's called out for not being consistent, or is told his opinions aren't making much sense. He's funny and I like him, but he's at his best when he's not arguing. When he is arguing, he's rolling around in his words and talking over everyone else and it sucks.

I think the one I liked the most had Martin on it. Can't remember what movie that was. But yeah, I can't listen to just Sammy and the other guy. They come off like they're trying too hard, it just feels fake and clumsy.

I love the premise though, and they both seem like nice guys. Just need someone more natural to balance them out.

His review for Child's Play was tough to get through. Way too many injected jokes that don't work and a lot of topics that are suppose to relate back to the movie but go nowhere. Did we really need almost 15 minutes devoted to Cabbage Patch Kids and other childhood toys? And the times they talked about the movie it was in short spurts. Sammy didn't talk about the plot and he completely glossed over interesting stuff like the movie not showing Chucky coming to life until the second half, which was amazing for a slasher film at the time. I feel like he's not listening to his own podcasts for self-improvement like Korey does.

So I'm looking up movies to see later this week and Leap! catches my eye. It's animated, but looks kinda cheap so I Google it to see what's up. Then this catches my eye...

Sammy has no real opinion. He's good at I feel leading discussions for people who have more to say.

Sammy unfortunately is a combination of being a little too self concious with a mix of self esteem issues that plague his on-air preformance as trying too hard. He's constantly trying to be as funny or clever or loud as the other guys, when in reality he needs to just be himself.

I say this because I see my former (hopefully!) self in him and his social habits. I learned that people are far more responsive and comfortable when I'm not trying to match the personas around me and just being myself. I know it sounds corny, but corny advice to a corny guy is nessesary here, because I simply can't stand to watch the dude whenever he's at the wheel, let alone steering a segment.

And on a tangential note that isn't worth it's own thread, I got two heinously long commercials unskippable commercials during the Joker video - both Purple mattress ads, one for 4 minutes and one for 2 minutes. Does anyone know where I can leave some feedback saying that I'll never buy a Purple mattress specifically because of those ads?

I watched the Transformers: Last Knight review yesterday. It's hilarious, the bit about Anthony Hopkins had me in stitches. I also have some morbid curiosity to see it now, but probably won't bother because of the runtime.

Maybe we'll get mention of it from them on the Sunday Service, but I doubt they'll spend too much time on it (unless Korey really ends up hating it that much lmao).

Going thru it, I have to agree with what they are saying about the difference between Americanizing it and White Washing it. It wasn't like watching Ghost in The Shell, where they aren't even trying to hit that it is an Asian property. It's a 1 to 1 adaption in places, just with a white woman rather than an Asian one. Dnote just takes the idea and adapts it entirely into it's own story for the local audience.

Of course, this wouldn't be as much of a problem if things like GITS didn't exist.

But I do have to disagree on it also, Light and L, if we're going with it, both should have been cast as Asians. Not pick and choose one. The entire point still stands that they will not let an Asian lead a major picture.

Yeah there's a distinct difference between adapting a story into a different culture, and using the original's culture for "flavor" in a backdrop for your white protagonists. All because they want to "exotify" whatever they're making, but don't wanna commit by just casting an Asian lead.

But even Death Note maybe getting away with westernizing the original story, it's funny to me that that means cast a white person as your lead. As if Japanese Americans don't exist. Hell, you have to wonder if any minority actors had a chance in the lead role.

The Departed works as an adaptation/remake. The Ring works as an adaptation/remake. Ghost in the Shell doesn't. At all.
