There is a lot going on the end of this year for Xbox.

The X release and a whole bunch of games coming out like every Q4 of every year but my gaming crew are foaming at the mouth wanting to play PUBG on the console.

Even if they release this as the earliest of early access / game preview to get it out this is the biggest buzz/gaming release for them right?

From the E3 and Gamecom interviews they seem to be throwing development and console design consultation for the game to accelerate the development.

I will say though even if it's release as an early access title on Xbox one. It needs to be in a decent state.

Its the only viable comeback for them in order to go against Nintendo with Switch holidays + Mario and Sony with Call of Duty, Destiny 2 and a Star Wars game coinciding with the hyped to hell movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

If Microsoft gets PUBG out, bundles the heck out of it and markets it to oblivion as the next big thing...its going to be super massive.

As for how big it will be, its going to be huge. From what I understand, Ark did really well on consoles despite being a bit of a mess, so I doubt it'll be any different for PUBG.

It's already got controller support, and it functions fairly well (aiming is obviously impossible)

it's early access. that's more like a late Beta not Alpha
the game is due to full release this year on PC

Considering the PC version is supposedly the best selling single SKU this year, then most likely pretty gargantuan. This game is destined for 30 million sales by the end of its lifespan
