I remember hearing they were going to go medieval. That could have been cool.

Yeah I heard that too, the only problem there being that we (us the Britons,
Who are the Britons?
only had the Christian God to play around with. Unless you are going to fook around with Arch Angels...fallen angels, demons and the devil... then... well as I type this it does sound rather cool...

Is there any info on a R6: Siege patch? All these other Ubi games that have gotten some support(For Honor, Division, Wildlands), it's hard to believe we haven't heard anything since this one is so popular.

I hope that the recent massive groundwork update it had this week will mean some X1X improvements when it arrives.

Hey. That doesn't sound so bad! Lol

L.A Noire will be getting 1X enhancements according to Mike Ybarra

Ugh... I'm in the weirdest goddamn place right now when it comes to gaming. I'd like to get the One X and buy games like L.A. Noire on it for the "best" experience graphically. But... I objectively have more time to play games on my Switch, where games will most often perform worse than my One S. Trying to pick which option I want to go with is driving me crazy!

No matter what, I will get a One X and games like this at some point in the near future. Just can't decide what I want to prioritize right now.

Game where your heart is! Resolution isn't everything!

I'm right there next to ya!

Been looking on google with no success. Still no confirmation as to what exactly the FH3 patch will be?

I feel fairly confident saying that the patches for the Windows Store games (Gears Of War 4, Halo Wars 2, Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, Killer Instinct) will just be taking the 4K assets already available there and putting them on the X1X version. They will look great, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that.

Are any Xbox Game Pass games announced to be enhanced? The Xbonx is my first Xbone, and I'm not looking forward to rebuying my Steam collection...

I would take Gears4 as a template, so there is more than just higher-quality assets and resolution added. I think they will increase graphical effects too if they have enough headroom which should be the case!

Recore and Halo 5 for example.

Some news about why we get a Quantum Break patch. Seems legit and is very interesting!

it's more than sad when those big publishers can't be arsed to pay for a few patches to cover the few exclusives they have. No, a single person has to do it in his free time because no one in charge cared..

I was able to play Assassin's Creed last weekend on the X at the Fan Expo in Toronto. It looked great. Now I'm just waiting for the ability to pre-order the X in Canada. Hopefully that's soon.

This is great but I hope he get a big bonus if the game sells pick up when Xbox One X is released.

That just breaks my soul.. MS wants Xbox one X to sell but wont bother paying employees to enhance the titles??? That's a little worry some. I think Remedy needed to take care of the problem but MS should have intervene if this indeed true.

Fair enough. Cheers.

Hoping FH3 goes 60 so I can play on my couch instead of pc but I don't see it happening.

QB It seems was never set to get a patch, so an employee made it his own fan project. I am sure he will get gratified by MS in a way or another!

See it as a positive by thinking about if there is an employee that could do the same for SSOD.

It is astounding to me how a positive thing gets a negative touch in a second!

The fact it's a project from his heart and he's a avid Xbox fan shows this 4k update will be more than a simple higher res :) he's going to go all out

That's awesome work on this guy's part but man he should get some sort of compensation for what MS should have been actively doing with their own IP.

You have no idea what the circumstances are between those two companies. Please stop.

You should be able to preorder it in Canada already. I've preordered the scorpio edition the day it was announced. Or is there no where to get the standard X version in Canada yet?

Game sales picking up 1.5 years after release due to a patch adding a higher resolution option. Yeah, I can totally see this happening.

Really puts into perspective how little MS cares about supporting their old games with this "beyond generations" approach. When a game can be patched by a single person in their spare time over the course of weeks, you'd think they would fund proper teams to patch their old games. I thought there was more hope for old games getting patched because of Quantum Break but reading this has crushed that hope. Props to the Developer who took it upon himself to do what MS wouldn't.

I always like a how an industry thing is made such a bigger deal when attributed to MS.

You guys are making QB sound like some high demand classic. I thought the game didn't review or sell well?

I really doubt this patch will help improve sales.

Found some interesting videos about how patches for some games may pan out on the Xbox One X based on a similar spec'ed PC. Not accurate by any means but still worth a look.

Beyond generation doesn't mean you will always get patches that make use of newer hardware but it means you can still run your game with a perf+ on the new hardware which is a promise fulfilled by the Xbox One X imo (16xAF, 3 TF GPU + CPU upclock available to those unpatched games).

Not a strictly MS thing. Look at how many Sony games aren't patched for the Pro.

I really doubt this patch will help improve sales.

It reviewed well, 77 on metacritic if you care for that sort of thing.

Patch isn't really about improving sales (although it would be nice if it did) it's more about providing more enhanced content for the X through the use of MS own IP's. QB is an ideal game to get an enhancement since there were certain limitations on the original XBO hardware that will be brought up to a higher standard on the X like resolution & textures although I'll be curious if the film grain will become optional.

For sure
The PC version had the option to remove the film grain. However, it requires a super beefy cpu. This game is cpu hungry.

Definitely.

Seeing it at a higher framerate in the above mentioned video looks amazing though if you have a capable enough rig.

Yea what the fuck, Microsoft had better paid the man or reimbursed him in some manner.

Yeah, Microsoft, the company that built an Xbox 360 emulator that will likely run on every console going forward and is emulating some OG Xbox games, the company that ensured that EVERY Xbox One game will see benefits on the X, cares very little about supporting old games beyond generations /s

Just because every game won't be getting native support, doesn't mean they don't care. To be upset about it just means you have unreasonable expectations.

Remedy are working on other stuff, who says that they can even spare the time to do it?
Maybe Microsoft offered to pay, but Remedy have moved on?

Some are so quick on damning MS ... but just think a little bit about it!

First of all, the person who did it, did it on a personal initiative. The guy works on another game which means that he first needed access to the code base for QB. Means, somebody at MS needed to authorize him. Its common practice to make a deal like "try it in your free time and if you are successful you will be awarded with a technical achievement award worth xxxx of dollars".

BC initially was based on a personal initiative too, btw!

I’m saying for a corporation as big as Microsoft, if it was required for a dude to do it in his free time by his own...
C’mon mang, it’s shameful. They aren’t some small start-up. It shouldn’t have come to that.

Priorities and budgets. MS presumably never planned to patch QB for the X1X but this dev took the opportunity to make it happen. I am sure he get/got compensated for his efforts now that they made it an official project.
