Destiny cultivated a hardcore fanbase, but everyone else wised the fuck up.
That's a fucking high horse you are sitting on, jett.

Or even better GAF should stop giving meaning to an only retail metric in 2017.

Ridiculous, I'm stupid for liking destiny? Some of you need a lesson in life.
Wishing Destiny wasn't popular doesn't make it so. The series consistently tops sales charts and did so years after the initial launch hype of vanilla Destiny
I think the key point here is that D2 is down 58% while still being the UK's biggest launch of the year. Games just do not seem to be doing well in that market at the moment
So I guess the Destiny players are stupid for staying.
Great logic, I guess

Just like Halo 5Almost everyone I know owns the game digitally.
Or people are moving more towards digital

Yeap and these "wised" gamers are losing one of the best experiences this generation delivered.Spot on
I don't know about anyone else, but I honestly can't bring myself to care at this point. Expecting intelligent commentary on Destiny on GAF is like expecting my cat to learn English
People probably learnt the lesson that you should wait for all the content to be in the game before buying the game.
And it still is going to end up being one of the best selling games of the year + the PC version should cover most of that "lost" audience. That is indeed a big drop.
Shit.
This is the UK, where the Xbox name still has relevancy. Also, not many people care about an extra exotic and strike, and then there's the thing that Destiny isn't a franchise that has a special affiliation with any platform.Due to the exclusive marketing and bundles, I was expecting the ratio between the consoles to be at a bigger difference.

Your post was still shit.lol I spent 300 hours on D1 and am looking forward to the PC version. I was certainly not calling myself stupid.
But people know what it is now, and a lot of people that bought D1 didn't care for it, and D2 is largely the same experience.

BTW the 1.2m concurrent players makes no sense if D2 is down in others places like UK.
2 million userbase can't generate 1.2m comcurrent.
As good as Destiny 2 is, the game is what Destiny 1 should have been in the first place. I have not played D1 since release but immediately a lot of the enemies seem like rehashes, particularly the robot ones come to mind. It's pretty crazy that Bungie had 1000 working on this yet they could not design new enemies, unless they are holding back enemies in which case the fuck.
Very much Destiny 1.5, there being rehashes of enemies makes this feel like an expansion pack.

The split is bigger.
Weren't preorders said to be higher than D1? There were 1.2 million concurrent players the other day.
Something isn't jiving here.
Every sequel is doing more of the same. Destiny is not unique in that regardHonestly, if you didn't like Destiny:The Taken King, you won't like Destiny 2 much more. IMO, the game is very much in the same vein.
Yes, the story missions are better and yes the patrol areas have more to do, but overall it's largely more of the same thing. Once you are done with the story, the grind starts and imo, the grind feels a lot like the grind in Taken King. "Do activity X until getting enough of resource Y to get a new item that raises your power level 1-2 points.
I would argue it might be slightly worse, actually, in that the vendors in d1 allowed you to get pretty big jumps in light level on gear pretty quickly with marks. Seems to be more RNG in D2
If the similar drop...Don't think anyone is expecting this to only have sold 2 million. Probably closer to 5+ at this point

Activision Blizzard released various financial highlights from its past quarter, and Destiny 2 already has several worth sharing ahead of its initial September 6 launch. According to Destiny 2s publisher, the sequel is already tracking well ahead of its predecessor. The Destiny 2 console beta had more players than the Destiny beta in 2014, and pre-orders for Destiny 2 are already above the first games. That Destiny 2 is on-track to be successful is hardly surprising, but now might be the time to ask just how much success its capable of.
That's essentially the platform split regardless of marketing.Well, to be perfectly correct:
PS4/3 vs Xbox 360/One was 51/49 with Destiny.
PS4 vs Xbox One is 58/42 with Destiny 2.

In the UK? Wtf were you expecting?Which is, again, considering exclusive marketing and bundles, a split I wasn't expecting.
Yeap something is not right or outside UK saw a big boost that offset the drop in UK.Yeah
There's still people holding a grudge over Year 1 of Destiny 1, so not that surprising
Perhaps finally people are tired of generic military fantasies in spaaaace
Anecdotally, I'm definitely one of the ones who went into Destiny sailing on hype and then ended up not getting the game I thought I would be.
At this point, Anthem looks like it may deliver what I wanted from Destiny.

Based in what? We know nothing of anthem, and good luck to bio ware matching bungies gameplay.Anecdotally, I'm definitely one of the ones who went into Destiny sailing on hype and then ended up not getting the game I thought I would be. I don't hate it, but I won't be coming back for seconds.
At this point, Anthem looks like it may deliver what I wanted from Destiny, but we all know to be wary of early showings by now.
People are jumping the gun based on uK. Let's see how it does elsewhere, preorders were bigger than d1 and concurrent users show a big launch.
