I think something that really needs to be talked about is RAM. Apple has been skimping on RAM for years (don't give me the iOS is optimized, blah blah shit please). Please don't tell me the 8 has 2GB like the 7 and 8 plus and X only have 3 like the 7 plus.

If so that's bullshit.

iPhone 8 at 3 GB, 8 plus at 4Gb and X at 6GB would be acceptable.

I think that's the case.

That fuck up with FaceID demo on stage ruined everything for me. What the flying fuck.

I was gonna get 256 X day and date but I don't know if I should just wait for next year now which will no doubt be better with rumours of Touch ID under glass coming.

Steve would have been pissed with how this whole iPhone X shit went down.

The FaceID did not fail. The message the phone gave was similar to the one TouchID gives when the phone is restarted. You have to input your passcode manually when you first unlock after restarting. It was a gaffe, but it wasn't a failure of FaceID.

touchid will come back in the same model as the headphone jack.

I don't understand why people would honestly believe otherwise.

FaceID didn't fail. The phone was at a point where only a passcode could unlock it (power cycle)

Can anyone in this thread explain to me how the X is worth spending a grand?

It looks different that all the other iphones out there that everyone has. Social status and all that shit.

OLED screen is also very nice. It's not like 800 bucks is cheap for a phone, if you can pay that much might as well go up all the way.

Was it a fuck up? I thought it was just having to put in the code because the phone was restarted like how it is with TouchID

lol. replacing fingerprint scanning (feature. not features.) with the most advanced consumer facial recognition is "half baked"... ffs.. this thread keeps delivering.

There were people in the iPhone X thread talking about how it would have 16GB base storage. You've been around long enough to know how ignorant some of the criticism can be.

Because it's INCONVENIENT AF! I don't want to pick up my phone and look at it every time I want to unlock it (which is hundreds of times a day) while it's sitting on my desk or table

Yeah I feel like unlocking my phone at my desk or table accounts for at least 40% of my unlocks throughout the day.

You don't need to pick it up. You don't need to touch it at all to unlock outside of swiping which can probably be turned off in settings.

You're quite "lucky" in the US when it comes to prices of these things... the iPhone X is ~same price as a iPhone 7 128 GB here. It's about $938

What situations would require more than 3gb of RAM on an iPhone? How is that limiting it in anyway right now? Even in the foreseeable future?

I'm surprisingly underwhelmed by the X and surprisingly excited for the 8. Getting rid of the hideous antenna lines actually makes the 6/6S/7 design a lot nicer.

I disagree.
The phone was rebooted. You can't even use Touch ID when a phone is rebooted, you have to put in your pin. Someone fucked up the demo unit, face ID didn't fail.

THANK FUCK IF TRUE.

That would explain a ton holy fuck I really need media to test this out. Whoever put a rebooted demo unit on stage is gonna get fired if that was the case.

Yup! Wrap it up boys! Failed one time on a demo unit, shit don't work!

I never said it didn't work, we saw it work afterwards, weren't you watching?

I said we saw it fail once. It doesn't matter how advanced a technology is, it needs to be perfected if it's going to outright replace something else.

Aiii

So not worth it
I'm sorry but 64GB nowadays is completely and utterly unacceptable.

Depends entirely on how archaic you use media. I went full stream a couple of years ago and can’t for the life of me fill up even 32GB on my phone. 64 just means 32extra gigs of free space, yay.

Do we know that for sure? It'd be nice to see a real world comparison with Windows Hello.

Should have put touch id on the back of the X and I would be in.. can't get behind the face id gimmick.. may just keep the 6S plus another year or go 8+ for the waterproofing and wireless charging.. just not sure that's enough reason to upgrade.

Kodiak

Not an asshole.
People say this after every presser and then they destroy sales numbers.

I think this is bound to shift over time. Apple fucked up hard today. You can get the S8 for $400 less than the X, with a better looking design and feature set. You'd have to be an idiot to buy the X...

And don't get me wrong, the X looks like a nice phone, but I just don't see anything that justifies the price tag. It should have been X and X+, for 800-900$. Not this 8 / X nonsense.

Why would you unlock your phone if you're not going to look at it?

being a tad facetious here, I know what you mean

From iPhone X site:

Our vision has always been to create an iPhone that is entirely screen. One so immersive the device itself disappears into the experience. And so intelligent it can respond to a tap, your voice, and even a glance. With iPhone X, that vision is now a reality*. Say hello to the future.

*On hold for now. This is the best we could do. Please buy.
