I know the answer is probably "nothing", but has there been any sort of word on the Part 5 anime?

If not, when is the next potential place they could announce it?

Since they didn't announce it at the event recently, I'm guessing the pre-production will be longer than usual and it'll be announced whenever.

I was conflicted at first but now I'm more okay with the Part 5 anime being delayed a bit. I want Part 5 to be as fabulous as possible

Someone at David Pro's mentioned that they want to do all the parts, up to Part 8 and beyond.

So take that as you will.

The dub of stardust crusaders has been great! The oras in the latest episode sounded way better now.

ToonamiGAF mostly did NOT take kindly to that episode
& this is the same block that dealt with stuff like Black Lagoon & the vampire twins along with all the sexual assault crap in Sword Art Online.

I get not liking the episode/how it was handled, but the way everyone acted, you swore they were witnessing actual porn & this was their introduction to anime.

One dude even went nuts & despite enjoying Jojo Parts 1 & 2 said he was completely dropping Part 3 because of it. Like really? We told him this was the only time it happened, but didn't want to budge.

If the network felt as though it wasn't appropriate, they would've blurred or edit it in some way like they've done with stuff like Kill la Kill. I don't know, I guess I just know there's a WHOLE lot worse that's been done, so this just feels tame in comparison.

I now dread how the group reactions would be to Part 4's "bath" scene with Hayato & Kira.

I think that scene is fine, since it's portrayed as something creepy and disturbing, rather than actually sexual.

The scene in Strength, though, that's just naff. It's not as bad in the manga, but in the anime, oof.

...dropping the series entirely is a bit of an overreaction though, yeah.

Nobody liked the SAO stuff either, though. As for Black Lagoon, that was understood as both disturbing and tragic.

Will agree that dropping the show seems drastic, even if Part 3 has been weaker so far without accounting for that.

I actually checked to see how it was in the manga just for comparison's sake &....yeah, turns out the anime decided to increase how much/often you get to see.

....I can't help but wonder if Araki was forced to do it via editor or something. I get it's suppose to be a Psycho reference to go along with all the horror themes, but it just lead to everyone's (perfectly valid) complaint of "if it was someone older, it would've been more tolerable." Not to mention wondering what the logic (aside from "fanservice") was for David Pro to show off more of Anna.

I don't know if I want to look up what the original reactions were from people watching its original broadcast.

The anime industry has a lot of creepers, natch.

(Yet another reason why you should stick to manga. Much easier to avoid the creep.)

SAO is one of the most loathed shows the block's had, and while I haven't watched Black Lagoon, I'm sure it would've portrayed whatever scenes you're thinking of as disturbing rather than sexual. I would've heard about it otherwise, heh.

I wonder if adapting Stardust Crusaders this...faithfully was a response to APPP's OVAs adapting hardly any of it.
The HxH PT OVA was mediocre in pacing, and then the Greed Island OVA was slower than crap.
30 OVA episodes in total slimmed down to 20ish by comparison in the 2011 anime.

So, when I first caught up at Avdol vs Polnareff, I then read some of the manga. Soon as I saw the Dark Blue Moon ep, I was like, "Wha...we're actually going through with this? ...Alright, I guess!"

They didn't really have a choice with Part 3. They got 48 episodes, which was way too much to deal with. That's why the SDC manga has incredible pacing where the anime has incredible garbage.

That said, Strength wasn't very faithful. They considerably upped the creep factor, especially the "male gaze" aspect. It's still pretty weird in the manga, but it's just weird, not fanservice.

...honestly, as adaptations, David Pro's been a mixed bag. Still much better than most adaptations out there, but both Part 3 and 4 are noticeably inferior to their manga counterparts. I suspect Part 3 would be a lot more popular here if people were going off the manga instead of the anime.

It's Anime

Anime directors can't resist opportunities for Fanservice

Also according to BatDan that wasn't uncensored but the violence and smoking was

Though it was on different block compared to TOONAMI

Ehh, I wouldn't chalk this up to editor interference. Araki knows that the age and the assumed vulnerability that goes along with that plays a part in how uncomfortable it's supposed to make you feel. It's a motif he returns to in the future with de-aged Polnareff, Hayato, and Ringo Roadagain.

But it's as you said; the way the anime played it out was worse, thanks to a combination of pacing, working in a 3D space, and yes, good old fashioned pandering.

The manga doesn't do a slow pan up the backside of Anne like the anime did when returning from commercial. In fact, aside from the moment when Anne first sees Strength in the shower (which is done to establish where they are in relation to each other), Araki doesn't show her body at all, keeping her framed in medium and extreme close ups. The anime chose to insert far more butt shots. And the manga never cuts to Strength's POV and do selected shots of Anne like it did when Jotaro was strung up against the wall.

Ultimately, the storyboard artist and director took a situation that required a defter touch and played it out in a way that was far more exploitative than it was ever intended to be.

Anne herself was probably due to editor interference, but otherwise, yes, it's basically the equivalent of Kira and Hayato taking a bath. There's a sexual component to it, but it's creepy and disturbing. Not arousing.

In context, the manga shot of her in the shower is clearly meant to be shocking. Along with being a Psycho reference, of course.

The more I've been learning about Parts 5-7 along with the making of them throughout the year, the more I desire for confirmation of more JoJo anime to be had

Part 5 is way better than some give it credit for. Also Narancia is the best Jobro...at least better than fucking Weather.

I agree with Jaded, I had a whole lot of fun with Part 5. I ended up enjoying it more than Part 6 despite loving Jolyne and F.F.

Both are fun in very different ways. Part 6 technically has the better Jojo, but Part 5 has the better stands and better overall group dynamic. Giorno is the sane person in a group of insane personalities. It seems like he's being drowned out, but I honestly think he ends up being the glue that bonds them. With Stone Ocean I mainly only really like Jolyne, Hermes and F.F. With VA, the only one that can fuck off is Fuego...and he does.

Recently learned that Part 5 actually wasn't so hated (likely to have been loved, even) before when just about all the scanlations were off-kilter with their respective dialogue, and Part 7 had yet to be completed

You haven't seen the true best Jobro yet, but even in part 5 that honor goes to Bruno the protagonist.

I wonder if anime watchers will pick up on this. I didn't realise it till someone told me the "Bruno was the protag of part 5" joke, and then it all clicks.

I don't consider him a Jobro since he was damn near the main character. To me the jobros are side characters. Since Narancia's not the main I consider him a Jobro. He's like perfected Okuyasu but better fighting intelligence.

The "Jobro", to me, is usually the character who fills in the 'best friend' role for the Jojo.

So Part 1 is Speedwagon, Part 2 is Caesar, Part 3 is either Kakyoin or Polnareff, Part 4 is Okuyasu, Part 5 is Mista, Part 6 is Hermes (well, she's a Josis), Part 7 is Gyro (though he's more like a co-protag), and Part 8 technically doesn't have one, but it's a special case since Yasuho fills in the role as Gappy's not-officially-but-pretty-much-girlfriend.
