If your boss is having you do completely irredeemably immoral things day in and day out then that should not be your job. Don't act like Spicer's some poor guy who couldn't get any other job. Fuck off with that. He didn't need to be press secretary. He didn't need to go out and knowingly lie to everyone. He could have said nope and resigned. He didn't and he should face consequences of that decision. He shouldn't have job prospects anymore. His credibility should be completely gone. We need these to be the consequences so the next spineless twit at least has to think about what he's doing before he goes out and does what this asshat did. We shouldn't reward this crap with fame, fortune, and more job prospects. That's bullshit.

Hopefully Colbert is fired for this.

This for real?

Yup. He was a propaganda minister for a white supremacist.
Just doing his job!

Huge over reaction. Not surprising. This entire thread is an over reaction. Spicer was the joke. He was used to provoke Trump and be shown as an example of the liar he is.
I never held Russell Peters in high regard but this is still disappointing to see.Spicey is living the life now
This right here is the problem with USA and the world. Glorifying a man who make things wrong behind the banner "I was working for the president, what else could I have done?" People like Colbert, use this guy as a laughing dummy and then he is famous all the sudden because he spread lies and was ill-intended because it was his job?
Is there a new Late Show tonight? Surely Colbert will address the backlash.
Why would he? Colbert can safely ignore it, and continue on with his work. No one big is going to criticise him in a serious manner about this.Is there a new Late Show tonight? Surely Colbert will address the backlash.
It's good then that literally the only consequence for working for an actual fascist is that you fail upwards, get a huge paycheck and applause from Hollywood then? I'm not seeing how Spicer is the joke here? He seems to have made out pretty well considering he apparently has not suffered any social cost for being an active propagandist for Trump and is probably getting huge money for this appearance.Huge over reaction. I guess all of the punches that were thrown at Trump in the opening song just before Spicer appearance wasn't enough of a hint.
Just wait until Trump's out of office and back to palling around with all his media friends.

Isn't his job being a late night show host? When you're getting paid $10/hr doing some fast food job yes you need to fall in line. When you're making tens or hundreds of millions of dollars a year, you have actual choice in what jobs you take and what you agree to do when you take said jobs.
Colbert absolutely agreed to do this. He's always been a fake fuck though so this is not surprising.
The post you responded to is referring to Spicer not Colbert.
Spicey is living the life now
I wouldn't take that fucking job. And if, if I went into it not aware that it would require lying for Donald Trump, I'd have quit after the first day when it became clear.Me right now. You've never had to fall in line and just do your fucking job before?
I hope we boycott the Late Show
You say that as if Colbert owns the Emmys and it was his decision to have him on. He was just the host.
I mean I understand why he did it: it was more to infuriate Trump than anything else. However, I do agree with most folks here that Spicer shouldn't have been invited to appear. It was normalizing what Spicer has been peddling to the country throughout his tenure as White House Press Secretary: a pack of lies. It's getting a blowback in the media where I'd be surprised if Colbert just swept this under the rug with no explanation toward his actions.
