I think Ryu's iconography trumps him being the newbie friendly character, there was absolutely no way Ryu was not gonna have SRK motions, he even has them in freaking smash bros, lol.
I mean it's upB in Smash and actual motion for a powered up version. They should have done something similar IMO.

Older DBZ fans that grew up with fighters on SNES or PS1 seem to be into it

But a lot of the DB fanbase is young and grew up with the budokai tenkaichi games, so they don't see the appeal at all. they want their dbz simulation action games, not a balanced 2d fighter.

I remember checking my local Blockbuster everyday because they had one copy of DBGT: Final Bout that was always rented out. After a few months of doing this, I was finally able to get it in the Summer of '00. History wil tell you that Most of the early DBZ fighting games were trash, so when I see FighterZ shaping up to be a competent game I get excited.

How are people doing Zero's trials on a pad? I tried charging LP for the kick combo, but I always hit LK+HK and it launches a super. Got it on my first try with my stick though.

maybe the game does so bad they hit the panic button and release free shit, who knows.

I think people may be underestimating this game a little sales wise. Yeah 2 mill is a lofty goal and I don’t think it will hit that anytime soon, but I could see it having more mass appeal than MvC3.

I got to play like 10 minutes this morning. Did the tutorial and messed around quick with some trials for characters.

Coming into it I wanted to main Jedah and Gemora. (Until Darkness AKA Black Panther comes out)

Jedah feels...odd to me. Love how he looks and animates, but I think I need to watch a pro use him more before it would click.

Gemora is fire. So fun to play.

I also tried out Thanos and Ultron a bit to dive into their tools. Both are amazing. Thanos being able to knee cancel into a command grab is sick AF. He seems quite easy to play too and does tons of damage for just about nothing.

Loved what I played yesterday but like a lot of people here, I had a hard time getting used to the 2p 2k change. I did see some weird slowdown/framerate drop on my ps4 pro though. I played my friend in a 1v1 private lobby for about 2 hours but the slowdown didn't occur until the last half hour. Has anyone else seen this? Could have just been some weird temporary connection issue, I'll see if it happens again tonight when we play.

No kidding, she took me by surprise in the stage you use her, she feels like Marvel's answer to Dante.

I played with Gamora a bit yesterday and she is good. I still have to test out a few to see who I can pair up with Dante. The 2 best are so far are Gamora & Zero.

I'm pretty sad this game is doing so bad on pc since my friend convinced me to buy the deluxe.... dammit.

Only solution is to push the game on more people like what your friend did to you. Keep the cycle going.

is the digital deluxe edition supposed to come with any costumes for the non DLC characters?

According to the description no it doesn't. This is the same as the SFV season pass.

This game is way less casual friendly than 3.

I'm honestly kind of feeling this vibe, too, as a casual. I don't feel like I struggled with chain inputs as much in 3, or with OTG pickup timing, which right now seem to be super basic things I don't feel like I should be running into issues with.

I am definitely going through something of a period of frustration adjusting right now, but next to things like movement speed and game speed in general being slowed down a bit, I think I might appreciate it in the long run.

I think I sort of have a general understanding of how he gets damage. Noting too wild yet.

yeah all my combos are pretty vanilla and do around 52% but his schenanigans are sneaky as fuk. day 2 ppl cant deal with the air qcb kick into tag
i run him with zero so it's just going wild non stop until i get a hit lol

I definitely don't. MVC3 was loved and had a lot of excitement behind it. The game also did 2.2 million before UMVC3 was announced. MVCI definitely has a larger hill to climb.

That's what makes me so mad about this situation. They made a good fighting game and everything else brings that down.

Floe was confident Jedah was a character that newer players were going to pick up... then abandon quickly because his movement's really weird.

So...do we know yet if this game is getting enhanced for X1X?
I mean, some of the characters would look quite nice in 4K.
Not Dante maybe, but some of the non-human cast...

Marvel 3 was easier on the execution.

Marvel Infinite is easier on the combos.

At least that's how I feel. Marvel 3 was so heavily contingent on being able to anticipate how incoming assists will follow up on your combos because not every character had an OTG or a good extension move. It was always hard for me to properly time an assist for a combo because it wasn't an actual "move" on part of my active character. Actually performing attacks is easy but stringing together them has always been a challenge on my end.

This is in contrast to Infinite where the button layout makes things a little more daunting to execute but there are just way many options to get longer strings in once you actually perform them. On average most of my combos in Infinite end up longer than any ones I performed in 3, and a lot of the time by pure accident - even though I'm getting more of a solid grasp of how my characters' moves lead into one another.

Hah, I remember trying Jedah in VSav3 with fighting game experience and that dude is just weird. Still feel the same here. Just not the character for me. Never really been a fan of that VSav air dash thing, personally. I get it, but just not my style.

People don't think of the graphics as negatively outside of our bubble. I think some actually prefer it.

And while once you start getting into the systems, yeah the game is less casual friendly, but on the surface it's actually far more casual friendly. The auto combo is great, and perfect for get togethers with people don't really want to move past mashing buttons. Every casual I've played with so far has had way more fun with this game than MvC3.

Now if that translates at all into sales, we'll see, but I've been saying for a while I really think this game is far better for the casual plain than MvC3 was. For people that stay on that plain and just fight other people on it, it's legit a blast for that. The casual and hardcore bases will not mix well at all, but most casuals don't want to go further than that anyway.

I'm not too concerned with PC sales, it's to be expected that that will most likely be it's weakest system with no cross play.

Yeah jedah is weird but he is the only character right now who playstyle I love 100%. I thought ultron would be the character for me but I feel you have to have him set up with someone for him to work. Gamora I have to get use too maybe see if I can synergies with jedah.

His air movement is (at least day 2) pretty hard to deal with. He kinda gets those same scummy angles as Raven in xrd. I'm still trying to figure out what gem he benefits from the most.

just went like 5-4, or 6-5 whatever it was (I lost) with El Topo, a gaffer from Florida.

Im in Portugal. Appart from some spots here and there, seems it was fine for both of us, certainly playable. Dat netcode o_O

also, we both were using reality stone as a crutch lol. As soon as one changed and the other didnt, the one with reality usually won >_<

A game like this is going to sell much better on PS4 and Xbox One than Steam.

Yeah Tekken 7 was cheaper on Steam then console vers. This game is same price as console! So I'm not thinking Steam sales will look for NA. And Europe has cdkeys to buy this on so Idk how that would affect steam sales there

But cdkeys threw a monkey wrech into those steam sales in the NA along with stupidly high publisher pricing

There is no VSav3. You must mean Darkstalkers 3, which could be either VSav or VSav2.

VSav is the one that first hit Japanese arcades and was in Resurrection, VSav2 was the one that released in the US as Darkstalkers 3.

I was surprised to see commercials on this during ESPN gameday last saturday, that was probably their entire marketing budget spent. If this game sells poorly its probably because the marketing was awful.

You can't really sell casuals when all the videos and gameplay you put out is made by FGC personalities. That is only hitting the niche crowd who will buy it anyway.

I mean come on, announcing characters via tweet and nothing else?

Anyway, I enjoyed my playtime last night.

How do you do that air combo with Thanos where you keep doing HP over and over? I've seen a lot of people doing it, but I don't know how to repeat the HP.

they better go back on those WNF/SCR rules, if you cant beat a auto combo button masher, that is TOTALLY on you. Like, what the fuck.

pal breaker (forward HP), dash -> palmbreaker.

I can do that, but I cant jump back up and do LP-> palmbreaker -> dash, palmbreaker etc

If anything, our bubble is more accepting of the game and is willing to forgive its ugliness than the general populous.

Every casual gamer I've talked to about this game either doesn't know about it or thinks its too hideous for a $60 price tag. The roster is shit too but just look at the game at a glance without factoring in all of these other things that we know and it just doesn't look pleasing to the eye.

I still haven't bought this yet lol.

Personally speaking, the graphics don't bother me as much anymore. I just know it's one of many things people highlight as a con.

If this game had a much better roster, I have no doubt people would've overlooked the graphics. I think the roster hurt the game more than anything.

The game seems to be doing the best on PS4. Haven't really seen anything regarding XB1.

DS3 was unplayable competitively. Maybe it was an adjusted version of VS1.

Are you talking about arcade or home version? Home version of ds3 has all the characters so i dont know what that one corresponds to. But im pretty sure tge us cps2 version of vampire savior can toggle the title screen to darkstalkers 3.

"Unknown - Desolate Realm" from the Flashback chapter would work perfectly as a playable stage. I wonder why it isn’t.

Can you not reset your position in Mission Mode? It's annoying having to view the demonstration and skip it to reset things.
