What does GCN stand for?

I know it's dumb when you actually think on it, but when written "NGC" just looks bad. GCN has a smooth flow. It looks like you could place the letters just as they are to be a logo. Actually, I think Global Cycling Network actually does just use the letters at times, and it looks clean. NGC is super choppy.

Nintendo GameCube is the only proper way if writing it out in full

It was to make sure not to confuse the GameCube and the released slightly earlier Neo Geo Pocket Color (usually shortened to NGPC for the same reason)

The original style guide actually said it is supposed to be NINTENDO GAMECUBE, in all caps, and could only be simplified to CamelCase "GameCube" on occasion, and should be abbreviated GCN. Weird as heck, I vaguely remember Cassamasina-era IGN writing about it.

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure the NeoGeo Pocket Color conflict is fan-invented. No one was even talking about that thing at the time. It had launched and died a year before the Cube even launched in the US.

Yea, I got no problems with GCN just as a name that's more convenient to say, I just wasn't sure if it was similar to the original PlayStation being abbreviated to PSX in the past, as opposed to PS1.

Definitely needs to be extended to Nintendo Gamecube however.

Reggie and Trinen have pronounced it in directs as Super NES (Super En Ee Es). I accept that or pronouncing each letter separately. SNESS as a word is butchery of the highest order.

How many Snessers are millennials that never grew up with the console or were never old enough to talk to anyone else about it until later in your life? I have to think there is a generational aspect at play.

Also, Europeans have no excuse, they are just wrong no matter how SNEZZ became a thing.

Imagine having such a fundamental misunderstanding of what an acronym is that you think it's a word. I blame adidas.

"pronounced as a word"

I think most people here are doing fine.

As someone born after the SNES's time (just barely, but still), I've always called it the Super Nintendo. Everything else just feels icky.

Let's offer you Yanks an ultimatum. We pronounce it as ess enn ee ess, and you start adding the letter "U" to words. Especially favoUrite. It's not supposed spell as if it's pronunced FAYV-ORRR-AIGHT!
