Snake Pass will be fixing its home menu icon on Nintendo Switch

They give you so much icon space on Switch. It's like a miniature portrait — a painting showing what your game has to offer. Please use it, devs. :)

My favorites so far are probably the icons for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament DX. Lots of great detail, but still easy to read.

Although I think the new SteamWorld Dig 2 icon might be the best one yet. Looking forward to the update dropping.

These all look awful

If I had Switch I would campaign against such types of icons as well.

I never noticed how much screaming there is on Google Play.

Jesus.

Good! Glad developers have largely listened to fan feedback on this. Gives the Switch UI a much more consistent and cohesive look when all the icons follow a similar format.

Thanks for this GAF. You alright.

I thought the first thread was a really good joke taken amazingly far by the community. Now I'm starting to think that it is real - people do really care about the icons? Even though they are all terribly ugly?

People do really care about you!? Even though you are terribly ugly!!!!????

Viva la eshop icon resistance!

No joke, I was about to delete Snake Pass the other night because of the icon. Now we just need Steamworld Dig 2 to update and i’ll go ahead and pick that game up as well.

Stupid? Yes. Irrational? Yes. I don’t care.

Sonic Mania next.

I don’t get how this even happens. Who thought it was a good idea to have textless icons when the majority of icons feature logos? Fucking idiots, that’s who.

Or they never changed the icon to that terrible one in the first place. Consistency in the icons across platforms really shouldn't matter when the interfaces differ as much as they do.

But I don't own the game on the Switch, so who am I to complain?

Sonic Mania next.

As someone who thinks this is all blown way out of proportions, I actually do hope this happens. This game has a terrible icon. And it's the only icon like it in my entire system.

This looks awesome, what's it from

I think it's from the film 'Riki Oh'.

Nintendo should really just let us insert custom icons like you can on Steam grid view.

Going 100% textless on every icon would be pretty slick.

Anyone have pictures of the new icon for Kingdom New Lands? I saw it somewhere and thought it looked lovely, but not sure where it was posted.

So happy about this. Let’s keep saving Switch game icons one by one. (Voez next please, even if it looks good compared to Snake Pass.)

Now, now, let's not go there. I can understand them wanting to go the iOS route, even though I don't agree and think those icons are ugly. Insulting people over this is a bit much, especially since a good part of the "offenders" are changing it back.

This whole thing has been ridiculous. It's just an icon.

Those icons are a significant part of the Switch's primary interface. How interfaces both look and behave impact's people's enjoyment of them. Companies that sweat even the smallest details tend to do well: consider Apple's approach to interface and icon design. At the very least, they care deeply, and spend a lot of time thinking about even small aspects of their human interfaces.

They should feel ashamed of their words and deeds.

Shit has been bugging me for a while. Dragon Age: Inquisition’s PS4 icon is fucking horrid as well.

Developers: put logos on your fucking icons.
