Super Mario Odyssey bundle announced

So I was able to get the Wii U Wind Waker bundle at Kmart back in 2013 when it came out. Is there any chance I'll be able to actually find one of these when it comes out?

If not, where is the best place to order it from and can I still order it? And do they charge your card now or when it releases?

If you're in the US, you can pre-order it from GameStop right now. They don't charge your card until they process the order for shipping, which can happen up to 10 days before the item ships. So, the earliest your card will be charged is Oct. 17th.

I finally decided to jump in with this bundle. I can't believe it. I just said "fuck it, I'm giving myself an early Christmas."

I'm battling with the idea of having a digital version of Mario but I recognize over time that I'm becoming more of a convenience guy when it comes to gaming, so it's not so bad.

The price isn't super alluring but I like the idea of having a carrying case and screen protector with no extra shopping necessary. The BIG reasons are those glorious red Joy-Cons, however. I saw those and couldn't help myself.

Looks like I'll be joining the Switch family come late October. :)

EDIT: I noticed that the description says "Carrying Case + Screen Protector." So is the screen protector an added bonus as well? That doesn't come with standard Switch units, right?

Does not come with standard units, but the official Nintendo case which is basically this same one in the bundle but black, does come with a screen protector. Its okay and does the job.

Youre going to want to get a tempered glass screen protector.. the one it comes with is just OK

I've been using the one included in the Nintendo case since launch. It's been good. Although I'm gentle with my Switch and don't travel with it.

A friend has bought me the amFilm glass protector months ago but I haven't met with him since to take it. That should change soon as today I got an extra SNES Mini that he's taking, so I'll grab the glass screen protector from him.

A tempered glass protector is ideal if your Switch is used in both docked and portable mode often. If it mainly stays in the dock and is only used occasionally as a handheld, a standard screen protector is fine.

Buy the physical, sell the digital. As I understand it, it is a download code, not pre-installed. Precisely what I did with my Windwaker Wii U.

So glad Amazon Japan has the Red Joy-Cons on their own. Been collecting them so I didn’t want to have to get a bundle for this. And it only cost me $85 total which is $5 more than Joy-Cons normally cost.

Do you have the splatoon ones? Are they whole sets?
I do have the Splatoon set, imported from Japan. They’ve only released a set with one green and one pink. No double green or double pink yet.

I have the Gray, Neon Red, Neon Blue, Neon Yellow, Neon Green/Neon Pink, custom Zelda Green/Gold, and now these Red ones.

You've gone hardcore by including a custom set in with that haul.
How do the Colorware models hold up?

I've got all the colors along with an Amazon.co.jp pre-order down for those Mario reds as well.
Play-Asia hasn't put theirs up for pre-order yet but I'm inclined to just stick with Amazon in this case.
I think I missed the pre-order window for the Splatoon colors on Amazon so had to go the Play-Asia route for those.

I actually haven't picked up a default grey Joy-Con set yet but I figure those are always going to be in abundance so I can nab those whenever.

I preordered the Odyssey bundle on Amazon but not sure I'll keep the order. I don't need a Switch right now (PS4 has plenty of games I haven't even started yet) and am basically only getting it for Odyssey + Rabbid Battle right now. But I really like the Red Joy-Cons so we'll see if I have the spendable cash come end of October and still feel like it's worth it.

It’s from Controller Chaos actually. I love it, it looks really nice on the Switch. I posted a picture in this other thread: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1396041&page=5#post250546286.

I pre-ordered from Amazon Japan for the Splatoon ones and got them pretty quick so I expect this should be similar.

I do like the tempered glass protector on my iPhone. I may use the included one as a holdover.

As for digital vs. physical, is it really worth it to try to sell the code? Would I be able to get someone to bite at, say, $50?

I ordered from Amazon, but after hearing all the issues with the snes mini and those trucks, I hope they don’t do the same with this bundle.
Let’s hope everything goes ok

Yes I don't see why not. If someone wanted to buy the digital version they were going to pay $60 (+possible tax)... a lot of people would be happy with a $10+ savings. Try the GAF Buy Sell Trade thread.

Why would you ever ever buy these bundles when you can get the same shit for cheaper by buying the game separately at pretty much anywhere with a 20% discount?

Yes, it's probably limited and a somewhat unique color.

At the very least, make the carrying case free and cut 10 bucks off the bundle cost. Myeh.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
Why couldn't they preload the game at least

Then you'd have people complaining about not being able to sell the code. Nintendo can't win with you people.
I honestly didn't think of that. An even better reason to do it. Think of the children having to wait to play on Christmas because some jerks are ddosing Nintendo.

Nobody ruins my family vacation but me...and maybe the boy!
My wife is getting me a Switch for my bday and I was about to tell her to just wait for this bundle but that digital copy is a complete dealbreaker :/

Really sucks, because those red joycons look great.

It comes with a retail copy in Australia, which is cool, but it's too much hassle to try and sell my launch switch and buy another just for red joycons.

One of my friend's agreed to take my digital code for $50, so I went ahead and pre-ordered the physical version of Mario Odyssey on Amazon for $48.

Now I'm set. I get my bundle and I get my physical copy. I'm pumped for some new hardware and a brilliant new Mario game to go along with it!

Really hoping we get the red JoyCon or at least the travel case separately in the US. I know I can buy the case via PlayAsia or whatever, but the pricing just doesn't seem reasonable.

I just left Gamestop. They are taking pre-orders on the pair of the Mario JoyCon right now. They also have SNES Classics in stock.

So I saw the picture of the bundle box on a local seller here...and it clear says "Switch+Super Mario Odyssey Game Card" - so it's not a digital download for our region? (I'm in NZ)

Edit: reading back through the thread, yeah, looks like our region gets a physical copy. Sweet!

How much are the controllers going for? I'm trying to decide if I should go for this bundle (mainly for the controllers; don't care for the pouch, digital game, etc) or just grab one of the ones already out at the moment.

Carrying Case.
Not where I live. Here the bundle is without case, still only a download code, and more expensive than Switch plus Mario Odyssey physical. All prices from Amazon directly, not marketplace:

Neon Red/Blue: €315,11 + €58,99 = €374,10 (-€2 for Prime members)

Odyssey bundle: €389,00 (not even -€2 for Prime, to add insult to injury)

A terrible shame because this is the first edition where the JoyCons aren't either boring or an ugly odd mix.
