I don't trust that as much as korok seeds. Too plenty and too wasteful personally. I don't want it to be something like a Rare game.
I mean, that's a given, but it is very ingenuous if you think there aren't any form of clickbaiting or the like, especially when there are definite fanboy or anti-fanboy reviewers out there. The fact that you have to bring it up even though it should be obvious is a bit questioning.
It's funny though when you brought that, considering in that thread someone looked up twitter apparently there was a precedence for it.

Fire Emblem Fates, Pokken, Paper Mario Colour Splash, Pokémon Sun/Moon, TMS#FE, Twilight Princess HD and I'm sure there were a couple of others I'm forgetting. The thought that 2015 was mediocre or bad is something else though.

They sympathize? What??? Can it not be Nintendo still makes incredible games? Nevermind we always call out Nintendo's shitty stuff. Did you see Federation Force and Amiibo Festival? Mario Parties in general? Mario Tennis? Star Fox Zero? Yoshi's "New" Island? They got some shitty stuff in their catalogue from the past generation.
They literally just shook up the formula with Sun & Moon, don't expect another major shake up like that.

This is how most people review games, nothing wrong with that. He said he enjoys games in the genre, but BotW didn't seem to do it for him.

I like Dark Souls but it and Zelda's exploration are so far different. And I do agree in linearity in a sense that the paths you mentioned are linear despite the different order.
Also why does your post sound like something you only looked through reviews. Not that I'm questioning its legibility.

You do need to do fetch quests and solve boring puzzles to make cumbersome and frustrating design choices less cumbersome and less frustrating.

Also, I don't find alternative ways to fight enemies more effective than using flurry rush.
I've killed 3 guardians. One had legs.
It was piss easy.

10/10 is an amazing score and it's obvious that EPD is delivering the kind quality Mario experience you'd expect, now with a refreshing twist.
Still, people get too invested in review scores.We all knew that we were getting a grand "adventure platforming" kind of Mario game here, and a lot of us were going to eat it up anyway. The score is just a nice way to say "hey, they didn't screw this up."
The best aspect of a 10/10 for Super Mario Odyssey is the assurance that we're not getting more of the same. We're not getting something safe and boring. We're getting something familiar, yet brand new, with classic yet re-invigorated gameplay and tons of creativity in the world design. This isn't another Mario Galaxy 2 where the new game is just a pure refinement of its predecessor (not that there's anything wrong with that). This is like starting a new slate with new concepts, yet it's still a 10/10 from Edge's point of view. That's what makes it promising and that's why I'm personally excited.
Now we just have to see what the rest of the press thinks.

Review thread easily, but can it ever live up to legendary 3d world review thread? That is the real question.
Lmao I totally forgot Pokken came out in 2016, and that was one of my favorites that year. That list is actually not bad on it's face for major releases. It's no 2015 or 2014 though.
Edge has also said that these seven games should have gotten tens:

It's ridiculous to reply to a thread specifically to argue that a game got a 10/10 review because you played 3 hours and would give it a 6.5.
You don't have to like it. But no, you can't fairly give a 100 hour game a score at all if you've only played 3 hours.
I think there might be another issue here.
It'd get 6/10 if it was by anyone else and called "Bario Odyssey".
Lets not get crazy.... since pokemon is slated for 2018 or later with Smash Switch having not been confirmed.

No surprise whatsoever. Expecting SMO to be either number one or number two in regards to most perfect scores awarded. Only question is will it surpass Zelda: BOTW or not???
Nobody said either of those games is coming next year. Pokemon for sure ain't coming next year.
