BOTW is one of the greatest games i have ever played and possibly in my top 5 of all time, it got a score of 97 in MC while The witcher 3 got 92 ? wtf ? Witcher 3 is obviously the better game, not just in my opinion, but in general, Witcher 3 is the best game released in the last decade, most people agree to that, so why did it get 92 while BOTW got 97 ??

smash 4 got 92MC, the same score as The witcher 3 and Bloodborne and there is barely any difference from Brawl, mario kart 8 got 88MC even though it's the same thing as MK7 but with better graphics, 3D World got 93 and it's not even 3D, all those games don't deserve those reviews, i bet if sunset overdrive was a Nintendo exclusive it would have gotten a 90MC

I'm not sure why. Korok seeds were optional and the majority of moons will be as well.

People put way too much stock in the vast amount of seeds in BotW. I've played the game for 160 hours and have only located a little over 100 of them. And all of them were by happy accident.

If this number worries you because you're a completionist....stop being a completionist.

I've been on blackout for a while so I am probably way out of date, but what is Odyssey's version of stars, if not moons?

And I'm not worried about it from a completionist perspective, I'm worried about it because I'm thinking that if the size/content of the game more or less stays constant or is reasonably larger and you add ~9x as many rewards for doing "stuff", that the "stuff" itself has to get shorter/smaller/simpler. I just don't want the game diluted, or to be stumbling over moons every few feet. Ideally I'd want to have to think and search around for them.

I'm probably overreacting though.

Very good sign that the hype for Odyssey is going to be justified.

This is how Nintendo needs to roll into each generation.

Drop 2 or more evergreen titles right out of the gate and let the money roll in for 4+ years.

I would not be shocked to find both Zelda and Mario to be 10+ million sellers this generation.

I think Zelda and Mario get 10's for the same reason people love nostalgia... Because Zelda had alot of flaws other games would get killed in, especially frame rate issues.
Mario has meh graphics, not as bad slow down...but thats just from playing the demo, so ill also admit that what i was playing may not be the final code.

I agree. Every single publication and user review has been looking through rose tinted specs. Nothing to do with the fact that people find them to be amazing games. What we need is more games with good graffixz.

TLoU has 98 reviews on Metacritic, a third of which are perfect 10's. You can post all the reaction gifs you want but they won't change the facts.

I can see where you're coming from if you haven't watched footage. This isn't spoilery, but I'll tag it, just in case you don't want to read a bit about the game's structure, since you're on a blackout.

The game has traditional 3D Mario objectives and these tend to grant a multiple moon reward. It's like Sunshine in the sense that you're tackling many of these in a linear order and, in many cases, the stage is altered to accommodate each main objective. Then there are single moons scattered throughout the level that you locate through exploration, mini games, side quests, that sort of thing. When you collect one of these moons, you aren't kicked out of the level and can continue exploring.

The game basically combines Mario 64, Sunshine, and Banjo Kazooie.

While Edge reviews are revered I always feel they are not the focus of the magazine (or perhaps the issues I've read happen to be ones where the reviews section was ~5% of the pages) so it's kind of like a local newspapers film reviews only not as amateur (they're part of it but not the main reason you're looking at it).

Also the text is pretty key to understand why a game got the score it did especially when looking at past 10s because some like Rock band 3 and Littlebig planet come off as unconventional picks much like the Nintendogs 40/40 Famitsu score (which made one Admin go a little crazy)

Wow. I seriously don't think you thought through the logic of this post. You're arguing that the Witcher 3 is obviously the better game, everyone says so, even though it reviewed lower than BotW. If it reviewed worse then how could everyone possibly agree it's the better game? That makes no sense.

There is no Nintendo bias among reviewers (at least those without "Nintendo" in their publication's name), Nintendo just makes extremely high quality software from time to time. I would definitely rate BotW above the Witcher 3 simply because the Witcher 3's actual game mechanics were awful. Loved the game, loved the story, but I have no interest in ever replaying it because it's a pain to actually play.

BotW on the other hand feels great to play in my opinion. And SMO very likely will too.
