The I bought the DVD/Blu-ray/4k disc and don't want the digital code give away |OT|

Yea I'm in Ireland, so no digital codes for any of the Star Wars or Marvel movies, which is pretty lame. Near as I can tell Disney are the only company that does this here, is there any particular reason I wonder?

Disney has its own digital rights service.

A local vendor needs to want to support it, in order for Disney to roll out support. Which is odd, considering that Amazon, Apple, and Google all support it in the US. But the back end tooling simply isn't there.

For example, I got a Marvel movie on the UK Google store on my US account. They never synced to my Disney account, so I pinged Disney support. Disney support saw the movie in my Google account, so they manually added support on their end, which then synced the US title into my Google account. So I now have two copies of the same movie since they have different title IDs.

Which is all a very long winded way of saying that Disney and the UK providers are not playing nice right now, so consumers are getting screwed.

Seems really petty.

FYI - DMA account links are no longer showing on iTunes or VUDU.

And the DMA site is down for maintenance.

Movies Anywhere is likely going live tonight or tomorrow.

These will be the free movies for linking your accounts:
  • Big Hero 6
  • Ghostbusters (2016)
  • Ice Age
  • Jason Bourne
  • LEGO Movie

Cool, I’m looking forward to this service. Bummed about DMA, though.

When you say "linking accounts" do you mean DMA - MA or DMA - Vudu?

So this means WB and Sony stuff will finally work with iTunes?

Hopefully. Me, I'm hoping it means my old orphan movies on iTunes will finally migrate over to other services.

On the downside, it very likely means one single code for everything. If a studio is using Keychest, no need for a UV code and an iTunes code.

I have a lot of UV movies and a handful of Amazon, DMA and Google movies. It would be great if everything could be merged.

If you have the movie in VUDU it's coming from the VUDU service. Even if you disconnect Disney yourself, you'd still have your Disney movies on VUDU.

In other word, anything Disney is doing right now wouldn't prevent you from watching your Disney movies on VUDU.

I’m confused why non-Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm movies are on this list...

Is there a link explaining it?

EDIT: Whoah... it seems like a UV replacement kind of? All the big studios joining Disney to upgrade Disney Movies Anywhere?

Maybe read the rest of this very page? ;)
I already read the whole page, and you were mentioning Movies Anywhere without first mentioning what the rumors are and that it’s an expansion of DMA. There’s no real explanation of what it is on this page, other than some granular questions and answers...

Do we sign in with our DMA accounts or do we have to create new ones?

New account, but you can import if needed.

How do I transfer my Disney Movies Anywhere collection over to Movies Anywhere?

You can import your Disney Movies Anywhere Collection to Movies Anywhere on mobile and web two different ways:

During the Movies Anywhere registration process:

If you use the same email address associated with your Disney Movies Anywhere account to register on Movies Anywhere, you will be given the option during the registration process to transfer your Disney Movies Anywhere Collection over to your new Movies Anywhere account.

To transfer your Disney Movies Anywhere Collection to an existing Movies Anywhere account:

Open the Movies Anywhere settings
Select "Manage Retailers"
Under the Disney Movies Anywhere option, select "Import Library Now"
Enter your Disney Movies Anywhere account credentials
Follow the remaining prompts to complete the import

Connecting to Vudu isn’t worling for me. When I click Connect, it goes to Vudu and Vudu acts like it’s connecting to Disney Movies Anywhere and then nothing happens. iTunes on the other hand, worked and specifically showed the new Movies Anywhere logo when asking if I wanted to connect.

Got Google and Amazon to connect but Vudu doesn't want to link, got the free movies though.

Is Vudu not linking for anyone else?

VUDU is broken right now.

Walmart obvs wasn't ready for the launch.

Connected my iTunes account, but a couple of the movies didn't add to Movies Anywhere. Also, none of the Movies Anywhere movies are available in iTunes. Is that how this is supposed to work?

My copies of The Fast and the Furious 1-7 did, but my copy of Django Unchained and Hugo did not.

edit: Nevermind, my Movies Anywhere stuff is now accessible in iTunes, hell yeah. Maybe I'll buy an Apple TV or something.

Same issue.

Seems there are some kinks to work out as I didn't get the option to link during creation even though it was the same email.

Also the "Import Library Now" isn't there either.

EDIT: Never mind, there is a "Migrate DMA Account" button on the dropdown at the top right

Just found the option lol

Its in the drop down menu when you click your name. Its right under Manage Retailers as Migrate DMA

Yeah now I’m confused how this is meant to be...

Is it supposed to be a beautiful Utopia where everything I have in Vudu would get added to MA and thus can now also be played in iTunes? Like all your libraries were supposed to get all your movies?

Because for example my iTunes copy of John Wick didn’t add to MA...

So is it just Movies you get on MA from now on will be added to those libraries, but stuff you already had on iTunes or Vudu that weren’t part of DMA won’t be imported to MA?

In THEORY it's that utopia. Movies are still being added at a very rapid pace (my copy of John Wick didn't move over either). However John Wick is distributed by Summit which is owned by Lionsgate which I don't think has signed on yet, along with Paramount

Maybe it's just for movies that exist on the Movies Anywhere platform?

Seems like they don't offer John Wick for sale. Or in my case, Django and Hugo.

Looks like I'll wait until Vudu can connect. I remember that I had linking problems from Flixster, and still having them :/

It's meant to be a platform. Like all the movies you see on your list, you can watch on Google Play, Amazon, Vudu, or iTunes.

However, not all the studios are in on this yet.
