Guys when people say "the majority" or "the minority", they aren't forcefully including you in either group. You don't have to counter that claim just because you like x or don't like x. It's fine to like/not like something or to like it more/less than others. But we don't have to turn the topic around just because someone disagrees.

It's an opinion. It's not gospel truth or whatever it's called.

IMO bolded are the only genuine breakout genius games, or game changers. I haven't played Bloodborne or Odyssey so no comment on them.

Some seriously stupid entries on the list. Skyward Sword? Halo 3? Bayonetta 2? Good games but just iterative sequels. Orange Box's high scores were also always stupid, it was a great value compilation, but the individual games are what should have been rated, you shouldn't be able to get a 10 just for good dollar value.

It's a hunting game where there's monsters and creatures every five steps. I got so sick and exhausted fighting the same robots again and again and each new robot seemed to be a slightly different version of an earlier robot. I gave up about halfway through because I got seriously bored with the combat, the world was so uninteresting considering the lore and the story wasn't doing it for me.

Man yeah I forgot how much this bothered me while playing the game. The map was simply plastered with way too many enemies, so it made encounters feel less unique and a bit too common. That's what kind of made it feel less like a hunting game and more like a standard open world action game.

Oh please, do you really need to go into pre-emptive defense mode?

Just celebrate what will almost certainly be a great game.

Pre-emptive defensive mode... Dang well shit that's something

I just got a switch almost a month ago for Mario and it came with Zelda, I'm not trying to say or do anything in regards to a stance i may have concerning video games, i was just making a point about how review threads usually go, the whole no fun allowed thing that plagues neogaf

I don't really see why 10/10 scores have to only be given to games that have brand new concepts. A good game is a good game regardless of whether it's iterative or not. Also, wasn't GT pretty revolutionary at the time?

always interesting seeing what various people value in Zelda games, for me, Breath of the Wild's world alone single beats all the other 3D Zelda games but Majora's Mask. Just goes to show that there's something for nearly everyone in the series!
Agreed, exploring Hyrule in it's full capacity is a dream come true. The world itself is like it's own dungeon, and all the shrines satisfied the puzzler in me. As much as I liked the dungeons in tp, The open air concept in botw blows it away for me.

Wow, the salt is ridiculous. Most haven't even played this yet, and this franchise is known for its greatness. This isn't difficult to believe tbh.

It’s rather ridiculous to me that no portable game has received a ten from them.

It's a trend on every major publication to underappreciate portable games. If the press were fair, they would have given tens to games like Chinatown Wars instead of GTA IV and to the Phoenix Wright series instead of the Walking Dead.

What does it mean?

Because I can think of a lot of 9/10 games that might as well be 10/10 if Skyward Sword is.
Come on man it's just a magazine group. Their opinion of a game being a 10 doesn't mean that it has to fit your 10.

I thought NieR deserved more than just a 6 while others thought otherwise. That doesn't mean that they are wrong.

The only reason I remember anything about TP is because Midna is in it. If it wasn't for her it would go in the same pile as the DS titles for me.

Yeah I stopped when reaching the mansion in the snow or w/e it was, after the snowboarding bit. one of the very rare Zelda that I've never finished

Otherwise, Mario hype. It looked and played amazing back then at the japan expo and they kept refining it since, can't wait. Gonna be wolfenstein 2 playthrough before tho :p

It has more energy, personality, and innovation than BotW.

this is an insane position to take

innovation? Twilight Princess was the start of the "Zelda is stale and needs a shakeup" movement

Everyone talks about the dungeons. Sure. But what's the first one you think of? I know the answer - it's that snow mansion.

But why did you think of it? Because it's a novel take on dungeons. It mixed things up, and it didn't even feel like a dungeon for most of it. The puzzles and other dungeon-y elements took second seat to exploring a cool, lived-in space

Now take that concept and make an entire game out of it. You get Breath of the Wild
