In THEORY it's that utopia. Movies are still being added at a very rapid pace (my copy of John Wick didn't move over either). However John Wick is distributed by Summit which is owned by Lionsgate which I don't think has signed on yet, along with Paramount

It's meant to be a platform. Like all the movies you see on your list, you can watch on Google Play, Amazon, Vudu, or iTunes.

However, not all the studios are in on this yet.
Always knew Disney was genius by making DMA. It’s the only way the world will be willing to invest in your Movies en masse. As a studio, it would be stupid not to join the new venture as MA so I hope this goes as Disney plans and the starter list of studios is already pretty solid.

There's always at least one major holdout (see Paramount for MA and Disney for iTunes in 4K)

Both of those will be resolved in time, however. And yeah, Disney had the right strategy versus UV it seems, though it could be argued UV failed because Apple and Amazon didn't sign on, and they're premiere partners for this thing

Things are starting to break. The MA site is showing me Joel's account! Thanks for letting me watch Guardians Vol. 2 Joel!

Edit: site down

Just bought Lego Batman from Amazon for $2.50 and now it's in my Apple TV app. This changes everything! lol

Oh my god it's literally $2.50. Still. And that means I get it in 4K on iTunes

Edit: Bought on Amazon and two minutes later it's playing in 4K on my Apple TV. This is the real deal.

I don't really mess with iTunes but the code of Furious 7 I redeemed almost a year ago at this point says it's got 4k support on my iPhone 7. None of the other Fast and the Furious movies say this, or this copy of Get Out that I just redeemed.

Weird right? Kind of weird?

Universal has been weird with their 4K support. They were on the listed slide of partners, they launched with a bunch of movies, and then they got revoked. I guess they're rolling back out?

I haven't linked anything yet (and don't have an Apple TV) but I just bought Lego Batman too. It's a surprisingly fantastic movie, and the only reason I hesitated before - even at this price - is because it would be locked to Amazon. That won't be an issue going forward once MA irons out the wrinkles and officially launches.

Yup just waiting on Vudu. I was able to add all the libaries so far. Glad I jumped on that 2.50 lego Batman offer also . My free movies already showed up as well , though I already had big hero 6

I was wondering why Flixster stopped redeeming videos ~1mos ago. Now we have our answer.

I suspect Flixster will just fold now and we'll lose all our titles. Unfortunately I redeemed a lot of titles through them. 😢

If you're talking about UV movies, it doesn't matter that you redeemed them through flixster. They are added to your UV library which is what VUDU uses so you could still watch them on VUDU. Though I think there were some exclusive things as I understand it.

The only thing I am worried about are the glitch movies back when codes were redeeming twice but whatever happens happens.

And if UV goes under? What kind of future do they have now that Movies Anywhere exists?

That info is in the OP. :p

Plus all of your UV Flixster movies should be loaded in your UV library, which means you can watch then in VUDU.

When Target Ticket closed, I lost zero UV films.
When Flixster Video closed in the US, I lost zero UV films.

And if we can replicate content between UV and MA, then there is even less risk with digital.

That's true if you're in the US, but remember for Flixster they're the only UV platform operating in Canada, supposedly, so if they shut down in Canada there's no one else you can access your library through.

Sites back up, still won’t merge with vudu though, just a heads up.
I thought it was on my end, phew.

Just so I’m clear, does this work like DMA in the sense that if you own a movie on one of the connected services, you own it everywhere (not just on MA)?

I was able to connect everything but Vudu last night. Woke up this morning, and nothing was connected again. I reconnected everything, with Vudu still not working, but my Itunes connection keeps failing. My phone shows that the connection exists, but the site doesn't say it is, and my movies aren't showing up. Oddly, in iTunes, my MA titles are all showing up. I was going to disconnect on my phone and try again, but it says something about having to wait 180 days.

Not to be that guy but can the MA talk switch to the MA thread?

From the OP:

What is this thread all about?
This is a continuation of the The I bought the DVD/Blu-Ray and don't want the digital version give away thread that was originally started back in 2013 by XxSlasherMcGirkxX. Over the past four years the thread has grown in popularity and grown from a basic giveaway thread to one that also serves as a resource for digital movies and TV shows here on GAF.

As a result, the community decided to "reboot" the thread, with a new OP that both consolidates the rules and provides an overview of basic information on the various storefronts and how they work.

The various storefronts and lockers are on-topic here. You're just seeing a rush of interest due to the surprise launch of a new/expanded locker service. It's normal that there will be a rush of questions/interest, especially given some of the potential launch hiccups.

As soon as things settle down, I'll work on getting a new Movies Anywhere section added to the OP and I'll see if Caddywompus can create a matching banner to use as a section header.

Give it a few days and questions around Movies Anywhere will settle down.
