I remember this whole thing. Anime News Network got hacked and several of their social media accounts too. They got the site back and their main twitter account luckily. Its really dumb that Twitter won’t believe that he wasn’t sending those violent threats and that his account was hacked when there was giant obvious proof that the main website and other accounts got hijacked.

Twitter is terrible. I sincerely hope something replaces it soon, like Mastodon.

Even if she did post a phone number, its still is suspect that they pounced on her immediately. I’m seeing several people on twitter already posting that they had been harassed and doxxed on twitter and had their phone numbers posted by abusers and twitter never did anything to stop those people. I think people have called me racial slurs on Twitter and when I reported it I was told it was not a violation of TOS.

I’ve seen plenty of other people sharing their experiences of having people violate the TOS, including posting their phone number and home address, and be told that there was no violation.

So, yeah, I think there’s something wrong with Twitter’s enforcement system. Malice? Maybe not. Only way to be sure is to see if Twitter acts. So far they haven’t.
