The shadow strike pull ability is so good.

Super effective for when you want the white or green uruks who are walking around in a pack or surrounded by a bunch of enemies.

Just pull them to you and take what you want :)

Big fan of that one. Especially using it on retreating enemies.

It's great on the captains too, stand on a tower and pulll them out of their group for mano a mano combat, assuming it's not one of the big ones.

Loving the fight pits, pitting my followers against other captains for free loot, and if they get defeated the guy who defeated them is ready to be captured. Had a legendary pop up, sent in a weak captain and shamed and captured him after :D

I just upgraded into it after my fortress siege so there weren't any captains to try it on but i can't wait to start putting this to good use once i move to the next region

Can we turn off orc intros, slow motion kills, and just general fuckery that interrupts your control and gameplay?

Look, it's fun seeing this stuff from time to time, but I don't need to see all of it. I was defending my fortress from an orc invasion at one point, and I had to sit through three overly long captain intros before I could start fighting them.

I had this problem in the first game. The game is trying too hard to impress. At some point, I just want to play the damn game.

Yeah not being to skip is annoying. I don't need to hear their life stories.

So I'm still very early in the game. Did a side mission called "Shadows of the Past" before I had gotten the basic mechanics/fighting down. Only scored bronze (the game told me to hold X for the "Elven Mode" (forgot the ability name, the L3+R3 one) kills, as soon as I activated it, but apparently you're supposed to button mash X on grunts :<)

Thus I only got a bronze rating, and missed out on a skill point.
Can I redo the mission somehow? Or is my only option starting over from a fresh save if I want a better rating?

Thanks in advance!

When you complete those missions, they will move to that region's barrows and you can replay them.

Yes you can. In the hall will be a pillar of light you can activate. Its a spartan helmet on the maps.

Ah cheers! I read some old article about the game saying everything was permanent, thus leading me to ask here. I'll check it out.

Sweet! I can't find the entrance to the first area's burrows (it's under me somewhere) but I'll get it eventually :] That makes me very happy! Thanks to both y'all!

Loving it so far. Some captains and especially the tanks are a nightmare due to them adapting, if I can't roll over them and they are arrow-proof do I just hightail out of there?

Still haven't had an Orc actually come back with scarring but I have been ambushed. Still in act I though.

Performance is even better for me than in SoM.

Gah,
Deployed a legendary, did one mission with him, he levelled up 7 levels
He betrayed me almost right after
I chased him down with a Graug and shamed him after he complained at me how he hated serving me
Tried to recruit him again but he still had iron will so I shamed him again
Chased him down with another Graug (lol) as he complained why I didn't just kill him, how I brought him down so low
He accidentally dies to poison... Nooooo...

I liked him... an Olog with bonus to Olog with his own band of Ologs...

Been there a couple times. The poison perk is great as long as it doesn't end up accidentally killing a legendary guy you've been trying to recruit. What are the chances those guys are coming back from the dead? None whatsoever I suppose. :p

Final thoughts on the game.

At best I feel like it's a 7/10. The story is nonsense. The graphics are hit and miss. The loop/grind at the end is crazy repetitive.

I like the heart of the game but there really isn't a whole lot new here from SoM. Baffling really they took 3 years to build this.

I want to like it more than I do but it's just not there.

Is there any way to view the vendetta challenges? I noticed I scored a few of them, like dealing a headshot with the bow but is there a comprehensive list in the game?

In the first game there was an ability that reduced the amount of hits needed so you can perform an execution or special attack, eg O+Triangle.
Is there such an ability in Wardor? Otherwise what are the best abilities in the game to have?

I'm having an issue with the Steam controller. My right pad, that controls camera, won't pan properly. In other games I just set it to "joystick camera" and if I leave my finger on the edge of the pad the camera will keep turning.

However with this game, regardless of what I try, it stops panning when I get to the edge. I have to keep swiping my finger over it to rotate it around once.

They changed how executions work. They don't get built up based on hitstreak. Instead you get executions based on your might meter. You get might, in the most general sense, from engaging in combat. There's all sorts of gear and augments you can apply that can help you get might faster. But either way, you're very unlikely to be at a point where you'll just be spamming execution moves left and right like you were in the original.

Crowd control is also a bigger issue this time around, particularly in the early game. There are crowd control moves that utilize the might meter as well so in some instances you're better off opting to do a crowd control maneuver rather than a single targeted execution.

One of the best early game skills is the one that lets you kill enemies when you execute a perfect counter. It's never not useful.

Was gonna go and convert a Captain who was the buddy of a War Chief, but there was a Graug in the way. As I was contemplating how to get past it, the Captain decided to jump down to the Graug and immediately got squashed by it.

Not ideal, but I guess not the worst thing that could happen.

the fighting pit AI is an absolute piece of shit. im watching my followers constantly use smoke screen tactics on enemies that aren't blinded by it. i think i lost 10 orcs due to that issue alone.

Don't send them in against orcs that aren't blinded by it then?

Thanks for clearing it up, but is there any reason to increase the hit counter anymore?
I'll put points into Might increasing abilities.

Just did a Vendetta Mission, one smart troll chased me to the top of a balcony just cuz I blew up his grog. I don't even know where the sucker was when I was using L1 an dhe just ninja ambushed me. Whooped his ass though.
Also I now have 18% EXP gain :V

Im not sure what the purpose of hitstreaks are in this game other than there are some crowd control moves that do more damage based on your hitstreak

Game is really great, but 7 hours in I feel like I already got all of the better skills. They should have paced the skill aquisition more slowly, I think.

Also, what do you use miriam for other than unlocking the gem slots? I'm still on Act 1, btw.

Just tried this like 3 times, no forthog. /shrug would be nice if they said exactly how to activate him
It's RNG. Small % chance of him saving you.

Some gear effects only activate over X hit streak. Had a bow that would explode heads over 15.

Don't worry, you'll get more uses to use it, and if you ever feel you have too much you can still spend it on the market chests to get scrolls

A mysterious orc just showed up from out of nowhere and saved me when I ran out of last stands during a fortress invasion. I literally have no idea what random generated sorcery conjured him up but boy am I grateful.

I believe you also attack faster, hit harder (bigger recoils and can damage/break wood shields), and can reach targets farther away in the combat area the higher your streak goes. This is why using brutalize when starting combat is awesome. A dude is dead, other dudes are feared, and you are have extra might and better attacks, as long as you don't get hit.

So I just hit Act II, game is amazing, however I feel like I got screwed on my arena quest fight. I didn't port over my nemesis from SoM but I'm playing in Nemesis difficulty so I figured it'd throw something challenging at me still. Well, he might have been challenging except for the fact that he was mortally vulnerable to stealth and I had killed the previous captain right near the wall he would pass as he entered. After he gave his intro speech I hopped onto the pillar at the end of the wall and did a stealth kill from above and that was it.

I didn't really want to do an hours long fight like some people have talked about but I could have done without the opportunity to insta kill him. Oh well, such is the Nemesis System I guess.

What's the perk that makes you throw the hammer? I haven't seen that before. Is it instead of using the bow?
Hammers are ranged weapons that can drop from captains. Bow are much more common in my experience though. And yes, you use it instead of the bow. I think they do AOE on impact but might be harder to headshot with?

Oh nice.

I feel like i been missing out on the loot game since my mentality is "Dominant whenever possible, kill only when necessary"

Anyone have any reliable way to deal with Ologs? They're the only enemies that i seem to consistently have trouble with. They completely mess up your rhythm if you're surrounded by enough enemies

Unless the olog is dazed, don't get into your normal precision strike timing of attacking as soon as your hit lands, in case you need to wraith stun him or dodge. Work the outside of the group if you're overwhelmed. If you do daze him, jump on his back and get stabbin' while steering into others.

Kill everybody but the Ologs, then kill the Ologs. Failing that, just try to ignore/dodge them until you get a chance to stun them, and ride 'em around to kill everybody in the area.

Seriously though there needs to be a 2x or 4x speed for the pit fights, if you are leveling up an old area it takes forever.

i keep forgetting you can ride them. I have the freeze stun so im used to freezing an enemy and then just mashing attack to build up my might. That's probably the thing i'm missing. Thanks

so can anyone please explain the trash ass story to me? like Treat me like a 5 year old when telling it me as it makes no sense to me lol

The loop of this game isn't really grabbing me. It's just non-stop killing of mad-libs orc chiefs and following

You mean up until now or are you saying you can't follow what you're playing?

Previously on Keeping Up With the Gondorians:

Men watch Mordor border, including Talion a blank canvas we call proto-gone-ist. Sauron (big bad guy that cosplays as Sephiroth) has orcs and other bad guys that kill men. Bad guys kill the border patrol including Talion, the wife he pressed F to kiss, and his son. Talion merges with force ghost called Celebimbo in death because reasons. Celebimbo had an etsy page in a previous age selling jewelry. Sauron commissions a whole line of rings but twists them so they're evil. Celebimbo is super bummed and isn't cool with this, so Sauron murders the wife he pressed F to kiss and his kid. Talion and Celebimbo realize they have some shit in common and start slicin' bad guy trying to get back at Sauron. Eventually they make their own bling ring to challenge Sauron.
