Destiny 2 |OT3| The Token King

I did three regular NF this week, on prestige NF, and one rat king NF this week. Here is the strategy we used.
On our successful prestige NF attempt we had two minutes left on the clock when we beat it.
Kill everything as fast as possible in all areas. Except in the area where you are dropping down and sparrowing to the two cabal bosses, skip that stuff. Go to the right and kill the first cabal boss ASAP with super. Then kill the second Cabal boss who is by the right lift (not in the left house where he usually is during the strike). take out everything in the room where you wait to gain time.
After that final jump lift then leave two people back to kill as many adds as possible to gain time. Have one person run ahead and get to the boss and pull the other two forward, need a good person to do this... basically you run the top path and take time to wait and avoid the pushing things and watch out for the vex hobgoblin at the end (take a moment to kill it don't try to run past it). Then get to the boss, and DPS the boss and kill adds as quickly as possible to gain time.
Yeah lol, I'm not sure it's doable. We tried it 5 or 6 times and no matter what we did we couldn't get to the boss with more than like 2 minutes. The best we did was make it to the boss's 2nd teleport but honestly I don't know what more we could do to get there with more time.
my team got there with ~4min on the clock; the best way to manage your time is juggling supers, having rockets with cluster bombs, AoE grenades; finished with 1:08 remaining.
especially with a 4-man striker team :)

Ugghh, pretty sad that we could do the Arms Dealer quest, but couldn't do prestige NF. I was pretty angry, but oh well, hopefully, there is an easier NF this week..... Not crossing my fingers though...

So I joined an LFG party of 3 advertising free Trials carries. First game, they were laughing and saying that they were getting lag, and bang two of the opposition team were kicked out, then the remaining two quit of the match. This then happened again the second game. Basically these guys were clearly cheating and somehow kicking other people from the game - I left after the second match because A) It's scummy as fuck, B) I don't want to get wins by doing this sort of shit, and C) I don't want my account to be associated with cheating.

I didn't even know this was a thing - how and where is the fun in this? I'll be fucking livid if this gets my account limited or even banned.

The way these consoles work when they connect, it is relatively simple to grab the IP address of a random member of the other team (you can't know who), then relatively simple to DDOS them so that they disconnect. It is one of the shittiest things that people can do in Destiny, and it's been happening throughout all of Destiny 1.

Don't think you have much to worry about personally, as this is very common and even when it is posted about on popular sites or reddit you basically never see even the worst offenders get banned. But you definitely did the right thing in quickly distancing yourself from it.

You're kidding with this, right?

Like, the end of Destiny 1 was a mess with sticky grenades. You got one every ~20 seconds, plenty of armor let you have two, they could be thrown forever far away and they had INCREDIBLE AUTOAIM.

It ruined Trials, especially on small maps.

Thank goodness they're weaker now.

So you're happy with them being complete garbage instead of OP now? Why go from one side of the spectrum to the other? Why do they even exist then? They already nerfed the hell out of the recharge time. You've played Halo, you know they could have adjusted the tracking to be like plasma grenades. Did you ever get mad because you were stuck in Halo?

Can I ask you guys a noob question about the token system? I'm at about PL 286 right now but my 'Base' rewards level at the vendors is 280. Does it make sense to continue to redeem tokens when I have them?

Those who were in my Newbie raid this week, I'd like to run you to use your underbelly keys tonight if you're around at 9PM EST. If you see this, please PM me whether or not you can make it. I will PM those I haven't heard from a little closer to time.

I'd also love to get Saint (who had to drop from the group) his Calus kill prior to this, at 8PM EST, if anyone is willing to help out for that.

I'll be hitting up Prestige Nightfalls tonight ~7PM EST if anyone still needs them.

Not unless you're specifically looking for something from that vendor. They won't help you level higher from there. You're at endgame now, you can have a look at this to see if you are missing anything to be able to progress: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=250202078&postcount=15155

I too would be good with attempting the prestige tonight if anyone wants to do it and has an open slot :)

Double kill challenge for the final day of IB? I'll just take the L on not getting the legs after 33 packages. I don't have the patience for it today.

I cannot get this pig to drop for me... Gunsmith, right?

What's the Counselor (or something similar)? Does that drop during the raid... I was rekt a few times yesterday by that thing.
Conspirator is the raid scout if that's what you mean? Haven't tried it yet.

Yeah, I am also frustrated with the quick double kills challenge in IB. It's just much harder than any other challenge cause the way the game is played (longer range, running in packs).

Overall, I had 25 IB packages, only 6 "new" items, 19 repeats of the IB stuff I had before, only 2 armor pieces. Super pissed off at this RNG engrams stuff for special 1-week events (I think they are ok in base game) and has turned me off Destiny 2 completely. It's dead to me now until the DLC comes out.

You get one super a match. Getting a double kill with a super isn't hard. Shouldn't take more than 3 matches to finish all challenges.

Similar thoughts. I'm done until the DLC and if I didn't already have the expansion pass, I would seriously consider skipping it until my concerns are actually addressed.

On all three characters so I have a handful of tokens to turn in? Nah, I'm good. I did it for 6 days already for 100+ tokens each day, there won't be a 7th.

Damn, I've finished the rest of the raid, but I still need my first Calus kill, too. I won't be home until 6 -6:15pm PST, though. I also have my underbelly keys, too. I forgot about those.

Maybe I'll join the next newbie raid.

I got 40 packages with my Warlock, got all the weapons but no gauntlets.

I probably should have switched over sooner to try to get the helmet and gauntlets for titan and the helmet and cape for hunter, but I really wanted that complete set.

I can check if he is available then (9:15 instead of 8) and you could join.

Thanks for the offer and I'd love to complete it finally, but I have 2 job duty and won't be on until about 11:30. Even then, I'll be logging on from my Vita and only play for about 45 mins to close out the day.

Platinum Trophy: Learned to Shit While Upright Again.
Really same challenges like for the last few days in a row

Does Bungie know how in the fuck RNG and progression work

It's like they learned nothing

Like why even have challenges that are just fucking repeats

You can only create a total of 6 challenges and for the last 3-4 days those same challenges have appeared
Like come on for everything people commend Bungie st making stuff be normal and not be back to the abnormal state of Destiny Year 1, it's a piss poor showing

Challenges replaced Bounties, now Bounties yest they cycled but not the same one everyday for 3-4 straight days.
You maybe got it back to back but never like this

We started with 5 Bounties for Vanguard and 5 for Crucible every day
Now challenges replace that feature, but can't even come up with 9 different scenarios for each Destination or event
So at least it takes 3 days for a set or 3/9 challenges get shuffled in.

Like how is this hard for them?

Like every Destination challenge is 1 Guarantees Lost Sector in an exclusive area for that day
The second is always collect destination materials or pop 3 of that destination chests but from a certain faction that planet has heavily vested in or complete a public event or 3 payrols
Last is always a toss up on what that destination offers as a side chase challenge, like steal a pike, kill 20 enemies on it, or sniper kill 10 enemies on Trostam, etc.

I'd rather have Bounties back, they at least set goals and you progressed
This just feels off, do this small thing, here take a Token, thanks!

There should've been 9-12 Challenges for IB, that appeared as a set 1 time for the first 4 days, then a shuffle of those for last 3 days, no repeats!
Would break up the goddamn monotony

I've never gone out of my way to try and get a challenge done. The last two days I've gotten the double kill challenge fairly quickly just from playing the game. And by the time I got the challenges complete, I had already earned a fair amount of tokens that I could just go in and cash them all in and get an engram and progress towards a second, maybe even a whole second engram.

Challenges are just that: Challenges. Don't play expecting it to just happen, work towards it while playing the game and seize opportunities as they arise.

Not the end of the world if you don't get the challenge complete.

Oh yeah, I think that's what it was... Felt like I was getting sniped with it one match.

Side note: Has anyone seen that EDZ mock up that's near the top (or at the top) on reddit right now? Pretty nice job by a redditor with some ideas about how to increase the number of activities in the different zones.

Saint can do 9:15EST. Can you make it, Gusty? And that would be enormously helpful I'm sure, ch4fx.

I will try to get the others who need them their keys either before or after this.

When you solo queue, the challenges are the quickest way to actually get a significant amount of tokens. Otherwise have fun playing 4-5 games an hour, losing 4-5 games an hour with an average score of 100-50 and get a whole 8-10 tokens for your misery. If you're running with a group it's not bad because assists count towards it and your consistently sticking together, but doing it solo is a bitch. It doesn't take me more than 3-5 games for each character (some days the challenges literally took a game to get per character), but I'm just done. Got dupes on my last 10 engrams and the double kill challenge is the one that has taken me the longest the past two days.

How difficult is the leviathan raid? I'm hoping to join in a group at the end of the raid so i can pop the trophy. I don't have any dedicated friends to do the whole raid myself, and I don't wanna be a burden on a raid group.

Anyone wanna give me some advice to get past 275 without having to do the raid?

public events, strikes and crucible.

I suspect that's the way most people play when we're talking about regular Crucible, but the nature of the timed event and the low payout for losses makes the Challenges a bit crucial for IB unless you're consistently running with a good fireteam.

What's some good weapons from IB?

Definitely not the GL. I assume that because no one wants it, Saladin keeps giving me the leftovers. The pulse is a throwback to clever dragon style high ROF pulses (having at least one kinetic CB mod helps a bunch), smg is supposed to be good, maybe the sidearm and fusion. AR and HC seem interesting (really wanted the HC).

What's some good weapons from IB?

I find the auto rifle The Forward Path to be really good for PvP and PvE. People are saying it's not great for PvP (looked it up on youtube), but I disagree. It's basically like Origin Story with a damage/rate of fire trade off, but honestly I like it better. It also has a magnified scope which I don't think Origin Story has which makes aiming over around 150 feet a lot easier. When I find myself doing decently against a MIDA at range, I know I've found something worth using. And at medium range I find that it's hard to lose a 1 on 1, thing tears people up if you hit most of your shots.

I think dps is almost the same as the 450 rounds per second weapons, but I prefer higher fire rates if the weapon is stable enough because missing a shot counts for less (maybe that doesn't make sense mathematically but it feels real). Also, it makes the opponent flinch more.

Finally got round to making a hunter and warlock to get my platinum trophy (No 75).

Had a great time getting it over 180 hours (yes even including the time getting my iron banner titan gear lol).

41 packages earned exclusively in solo queues, and no pulse rifle, no arms. Multiples on every other armor piece and weapon, lots of generic Crucible drops, and I managed to get the IB fusion rifle 17 times. If this weren't a one week event, and it took me twice that many packages to get a single full suit of armor, I would be (mostly) fine with that, but I'm definitely not participating in another time limited event that takes a potentially unlimited amount of time to complete. Easily the least amount of fun I have had doing anything in either game.

All i only needed was the Warlock Bond. Played my final match before the reset, opened my last engram of IB. And i get it. Oh my god haha.

Everything now revolves the E-Sports crowd to the point that former D1 Space Wizards have been neutered to strictly generic COD Gunplay in PvP D2.
Just to cater to the Trials crowd who complained about what made Crucible in Destiny 1 actually fun.

I miss 6v6, that was hell of fuckin' fun

I miss feeling like a badass. I wish trickle and juggler weren't on by default in PvE activities and I miss mayhem (I think that's it) as an option in crucible. Guess I should get excited for them being reintroduced in DLC.

This might be true if not for the fact that challenges are FAR AND AWAY the best way to get tokens for turnins. It takes 4 wins or 10 losses for 1 turnin, with 1 chance at items that can also include non-IB gear. While all 3 challenges plus daily milestone award 21 tokens, enough for a full turnin that you can complete in one game. If you are a solo player, without the daily challenge milestone it would take you ~6 full games for one turn-in, assuming a 50% win rate. Given that this is the last day of IB, surely you can't be surprised people want to maximize their tokens and be upset that Bungie adds some really stupid challenges.

Anyway, Bungie straight up said challenges were this game's version of bounties. They aren't "challenging", they are tasks for you to do. You ARE supposed to play expecting them to happen, by seeing what the challenges are and actively trying to do that thing. Bungie just made them way stupider than bounties were by making you unable to see them until in the game mode, and requiring you to do 100% of challenges for a daily milestone, instead of, say, requiring 3 challenges completed out of a pool of 5, where you only got credit each day for the first 3 you did.

The challenge system is just another example of Bungie taking something that existed in D1 that people had some issues with and having no idea what was actually bad about that, thus making a system that manages to be even worse in D2 that replaces the old system.
