Still, how shitty Sasuke has to be (sending a note: "congratz"), and Sakura there all alone. Poor Sakura, really. Fuck him.
Thats just Pierott bullshit , in the actual novel he didnt even appear.
Overall really sad what Pierott did with novel adaptations , especially what they did to Team2 and Izumi on Itachi Shinden adaptations

SP never fails to amaze me at how bad their adaptations are.

Fails to adapt the manga correctly and even fails to adapt fully written novels. At this point its clear they just want to write their own fanfiction but unfortunately their have such low capabilities that their filler arcs are a laughing stock.

Novels? What're these? I only read the manga after Part 1. Anything worth watching?

There are numerous Naruto novels written by various authors. None of them are canon but you can read them or buy them if you're interested in what if situations.

Now don't spoil me, but I get the feeling we won't get to see as much of the Hyuga fighting style as I'd like. Boruto just has too much to draw from.

He has Wind and Lightning affinities from Naruto and Hinata. Shadow Clones. A lot of Kunai moves, seems like he gets a sword in the future. There's too much. Naruto had like 3 moves and a million variations on them.

Why couldn't they have made Himawari the same age, as cute as she is as the little sister.

EDIT: I don't however regret seeing new jutsu, especially combination shit like what Bortuo did. Got some like Chidori tunnel vision stuff going on. Always seemed like there should be way more variation in the number of jutsu, and an actual utilization of those moves.

Boruto doesn't even have a traditional Hyuuga eye, which to me seems like an excuse to basically use it as an MS, and give him one or two abilities from it to spam, and not center his fighting style around Huuuga stuff.

Boruto's a damn genius and its nice for him to not rely on 1 style. element chakra attacks have always been my favorite and if he's gonna do more combo stuff like that boruto wave I welcome it.

Seriously I hope he gets to pull off stuff like lightning clones and wind bullets then just killing a person with gentle fist. But I do also wanna see more taijutsu because it looks so fucking sick when they animate it with effort lol.

How many times are you gonna deny that they're canon? They're listed on the official timeline by Shueisha.

Dedication has nothing to do with it. Naruto novels aren't something new. They've been released even during Shippuuden's manga run. They've never been considered canon (due to not being written by Kishi or approved script) but recently some feel the need to try to play filler as canon.

Shueisha are the publishers of the novels. They created a timeline for them, just like how SP fits their fillers in the canon timeline. I fail to see how they are canon when they have no input from Kishi and are written by different authors.

I love how you fail to justify it by saying the timeline is official, its not, its made by Shueisha to simply show when the novels take place...... here's the canon timeline, shown prior the last work Kishi did for this series:

Shueisha also owns a substantial portion of ip your point?

Why do you think Boruto's even happening?

The point is clear. Publishers owning licenses doesn't dictate canon. NB with their video/mobile games, Shueisha with their novels, SP with their anime fillers and movies and Viz with their overseas publications.

There's a reason every single one of these publishers are desperate for Kishi to have his name in their media: fans know who is the Naruto creator/writer that they've been following for 15 years and will buy any further works from him to follow the story unlike filler media which is less popular as a consequence of not being similar to the story they've followed.

Its why Boruto for instance is seeing 70% decline in manga sales, or why Road to Ninja saw a massive increase in sales after Kishi's name was plastered on it.

To put it even more simply, Kishi writes canon. Not Shueisha.

Boruto is nothing but a cashgrab sequel.
WSJ wanted a Part 3 as Naruto makes big bucks, Kishi refused to write anymore, but was willing to allow a new series if they let Ikemoto write/draw. Kishi said Ikemoto as he was his assistant that missed out on making his own manga as a result of working on Naruto.

None of the novels released prior the Hiden ones dealt with anything remotely canon as they were based on in universe tales i.e. Jiraiya's novels. I'm looking at them beside me right now.
Also, the canon isn't dictated by Kishimoto, but by Jump/Shueisha. It's their title after all.

Also, regarding your above points, Boruto still sells better than most of Jumps other series, especially for three volumes of recaps with lower print runs then Naruto's.

You also seem to be very pal-ly with Kishi, he tell you all this personally? I can't deny your point regarding anything plastered with his name will sell. Japanese fans will clamour to anything with the original writers name. I assume western fans are too, but more vocal to put it lightly.

Now off to read the manga chapter.

I've caught up through the ghost/academy arc to right before gaiden starts. That class rep betrayal. Anyways, the show is solid so far. Has some good action when it needs to and the slice of life episodes can be pretty fun. Favorite one was when Himawari KO'd Naruto and terrified Boruto, then Naruto and Boruto get dinner. Cast is pretty likable all around. Favorite may be Chocho. It was funny during the climax that they still brought Kakashi out to fight, and he was even ordering around Naruto. Big minus was that there was a Danzo influence on the plot.

"Sarada, are there any presents you want from the trip?"
"A Dad"
Oh
"Sakura, this is where you and Sasuke and your first date"
"Yeah, but it was only two and a half minutes"
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

I haven't read Gaiden, but I hope this arc delivers more gems like this about how bad the Sasuke/Sakura relationship is.

you haven't? Well you are in for a treat ;)

Yup.

The Hiden novels are canon.

Thought so, this whole un canon thing seems like an emotional argument by certain fans now more so then it actually being uncanon

I'm like on chapter 14, have enjoyed my time with the show. It's light, fun, and it's kinda cool to see that Naruto is doing the real job of a Hokage.

Best for me was seeing the interaction of the kids with grandpa hyuuga, lol. Totally unexpected.

It represented the anime continuity.

yup they mentioned the arc we are currently in

pretty much the whole anime, like I suspected is completely canon and will not get any filler arcs

I am assuming we will go to the genin stuff first in the anime with original content before it follows the manga with the Chunin exams, etc...

not much progression but surprised Ao is alive and a villain. Also he's a strong genjutsu user. Byakugan hax incoming.

the only reason they brought him back from death is because of his byakugan

likely will help Boruto and his Jougan plot out

So anyone read the Boruto chapter?

yes I did, I'm enjoying how things are progressing from an overarching story perspective (even though there wasn't much movement here). Other random thoughts:

Mitsuki got real creepy for a second there convincing Boruto to go on the mission
Who would have thought that the SUPER EVIL looking dude was evil lol
I'm glad the seal is common knowledge now, was it last issue? I feel like it was still secret
Konohamaru about to get fucked? Possibly...

onto waiting another month...

I also noticed they referenced the current anime arc which was cool.

Manga:
I thought the Mitsuki and Boruto conversation was pretty good.

Boruto overreacting to his stances on scientific ninja tools after the exam is pretty funny/interesting as well.

The Boruto manga is getting interesting.

I fully expect Konohamaru to easily be Kage level and top tier across the board so if he's not and gets off panel'x, I'mma be annoyed.

I hope there is a great fight between him and Ao coming up. I agree on Konohamaru's power and he probably should win a fight between the two but I wouldn't mind him getting injured badly to set the tone. Lets see some shit pop off.

Manga stuff:

Mitsuki being uncomfortably close to Boruto made me laugh. Like, the kid was Hinata levels of creepiness (watching Boruto) in the anime and he got just too close in this chapter of the manga.

Konohamaru fighting should totally be an amazing fight. The guy is in the path to become the Eighth Hokage, I won't forget them if all the action happens off panel.

The visit to Kirigakure being canon. Get reckt PM... j/k

This guy Ao will end up teaching Boruto how to activate his Byakugan at will, I guess.

tldr: this is probably the first chapter of the manga that is good imo.

I agree Konohamaru needs to prove himself as not only the potiential future Hokage but team leader like Kakashi/Asuma/etc... and also likely now the head of the Sarutobi clan that had fire and ash jutsu to name a few under their arsenal

Wow, the animated fight against Shin Uchiha was amazing, i was speechless. Even though it's pretty consistent, the show is really well made.

Again, fuck Sasuke for denying the kiss to Sakura. She really deserved better.

The Suigetsu Mitsuki moment was the best, glad he got his way though Suigetsu has always seemed like he'd be a push over to all the kids in the series. I do wish he was able to fight this arc.

Inojin and Shikadai are the best friends for Boruto.

That had better be a clone of Choujuurou that got caught or this dude gotta resign.

Straight up. Can't be having that weak shit from a Kage.

Shizuma might be on to something.

Like the manga, the anime is getting better. I wonder how much this fight will last. I wonder too if Kagura will get more screen time in the future since they use him for the (still new) opening.

Mitsuki doing whatever he wants makes me like him even more.

The concept of this arc is interesting and could be a lot better with better setup and more fleshing out of things (and better animation/art/fights) but I feel like I say that about everything nowadays...

I doubt he is even trying

he is just standing there, trying to understand what makes them tick

Yeah I didn't think for a second that he's in actual trouble there.
