October Wrasslin' |OT| I'm seein' double here...

Also lol Meltzer says the reason they are doing Jinder vs. Brock at Survivor Series is because they don't see it as a big show and they want to save Finn vs. Brock for a bigger show like the Rumble.

It's true... a few years back they almost ended the Survivor Series altogether and replaced it with some generic PPV name

Meltzer on the theoretical "mass exodus" of people leaving WWE

Also says that New Japan is "overloaded" right now and not looking to add many more guys.

So let's pump the brakes a bit.

I think there were quite a few of us saying this. NJPW is pretty stacked at the top level and there is very little room in the main event, especially with the methodical booking pace.

And if everyone is suddenly "ex-WWE superstar!" then prices per appearance will start getting very competitive on the indies.

KFC Georgia Gold, K-Mart, and the Trump administration present:
SportsEntertainmentKingdom 12
*shit ass music begins to play*

Is that what you want, ArmPitmark666969?!

Meltzer also notes that Aries' jab about "making more in the first six weeks on the indies than the last six with WWE" is something a lot of guys see at first, but for most guys the further they get away from their WWE run, the less they get offered per appearance.

Whoever sees it as easy as leaving WWE and start making Young Bucks level of money is one big fucking mark, up there with Ryback, the only reason Drew and Cody made it is because they busted their asses trying it (Cody's last name helped too). I'm sure someone as hungry for success as Neville can accomplish that too but outside of him and a handful others I just can't see too many of them being smart enough to even manage to gain any value past their “ex wwe” tag.

People cite 205 Live as a lot of guys that might leave, but has anyone actually thought that through?

TJP was on the indies for years and had relatively minimal attention. Swann would get more than most, but likely take a huge pay cut. Metalik has been misused his entire career, so he's got nothing to go back to. Cedric would have more than he had last time he was on the indies, but probably not much. Gallagher and Dar could get some work in the U.K.. Tozawa is probably the best case scenario, but even his options are only so much.

And that's to say nothing of guys like Gulak, Nese, Daivari, and Kendrick who are definitely better off where they're at.

Big Japan Pro Wrestling are the latest Japanese promotion to jump on the streaming trend. Given the volume of shows they run, this is pretty impressive. The Strong and Tag title scene has it's ups and downs but can produce some very high level matches each year. Their new Junior Heavyweight division is looking a lot like NOAH in the best way possible - high paced, punishingly stiff action with a sprinkling of flips.

Of course it has all the Deathmatch stuff which by all reports is very good. And Yankee Two Kenju,

The most important is the health of the competitors. From 1984 to 2010, the death rate of major league pro wrestlers was ridiculously high. You can take nearly any profession, and even by percentage, people who served in wars (and we’ve run those numbers and people got inflamed by the results in all the wrong ways), rock stars, NFL players, and the death rates, particularly heart attack death rates of people who were heavily into pain pills and steroids, was high. The WWF did test seriously from 1992 to 1996, and during that period, things got a lot better. But for a combination of financial reasons, and competition reasons, they dropped the program. WCW tested, but everyone involved would acknowledge the WCW testing was a farce and during the early stages of the wrestling war, a generally older WCW main event roster was more physically impressive than a younger WWF roster. At one point Vince McMahon got so mad about it they ran skits accusing Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage of being on steroids, and at another point challenged WCW to do the same level of testing they were doing. When WCW started gaining in popularity, McMahon made the call to drop the testing. The death rate of wrestlers in the late 90s, and this cut across WWF, WCW and ECW, and all were bad, on a percentage basis there wasn’t much difference, was horrible. It was not the same in Japan and Mexico.

God.

If Season 4 happens there will need to be a lot of off-screen stories to explain why half the roster is gone.

They'll just do like they did between 1 and 2 and have Muertes kill everyone again and turn them into a throne of skulls.

Except instead of Muertes killing everyone it'll either be Pentagon or the Government.

Yesssssssss, this is awesome - hopefully it combines their NicoVideo channel and Samurai TV broadcasts, would be a lot of content! It's using the same back-end and NJPW World, be interesting to see if they do live streaming as well...

TJP wouldn't go back because no one gave much of a damn about him either as TJP or Puma, I can't think of any interesting feuds or storylines he was ever involved in. He was just there. A guy to have matches full of moves.

Swann would be a bigger deal, but while he doesn't lack for personality or charisma, character-wise he's always been lacking. Another guy to have great matches with, but the indies are full of those.

Metalik likely always has a place at CMLL if he wants it, and while I'd agree he wasn't used well in NJPW he wasn't misused: they just wanted him to commit to New Japan beyond the year's excursion.

Gallagher and Dar would both be a big deal - Jack was around the UK scene for a while, but just as it was all coming together for him he was off the US. There's still a lot for him to do, if he returned. Noam's similar, he's young, he didn't reach his full potential on the UK scene and there was talk of NJPW being interested before he signed to WWE.

If Tozawa leaves WWE, it'd be to go back to Dragon Gate - except this time maybe with the star power to win the Dream Gate. I think it took Tozawa leaving for DG to realise just how important he was to them, for a good year or two he was THE guy but the office just didn't react accordingly.

Still waiting for that to be the payoff for Emma's "I started the women's revolution" bit and not Paige.

The pay off should be Paige showing up and joining Emma since you know, they pretty much did or at least put on the match in NXT that got people to start to take notice. I'd give AJ Lee some credit too but WWE has struck her from pretty much everything to the point of her seemingly not have ever existed aside from that shitty movie they're making about Paige.

I'm still kind of salty that Sasha, Becky and Charlotte weren't called up in a female Shield sort of manner to go after the main roster women, especially Paige for "selling out".

I agree. Not everyone can transition successfully from the WWE to the indies. I mean, what is Jack Swagger doing now? Even Morrison/Mundo took time to build momentum and I still wouldn’t consider him at BC levels of notoriety. Cody supposedly got paid pretty well in the WWE so he has money to fall back on, plus the RoH roster isn’t once what it used to be so he got in at the right time. He’s not bad in the ring, but also not particularly special. He owes a lot to his name, getting into RoH at the right time, and riding on the Bullet Club’s coattails.

Plus, Bullet Club isn’t what it used to be. Omega has a good future ahead, but I don’t see the rest breaking out. Compare them to LIJ, where Sanada, Bushi, and EVIL have a ton of potential. Watch KoPW, damn near EVERYONE has a LIJ shirt.

That said, I think Neville has the drive and skills to be one of the top indie guys. We are in the golden age of indie wrestling, but you gotta wonder when that dries up.

How do you guys have all these streaming services?

There are too many streaming services

The best part of the RH archive wasnt that I was free but all the promotions we're in one place

In the wrestling world, if you want someone who looks like a cranky old dad who will shoot you for dating his daughter you don't go with Cena. You go with Arn Anderson.

yeah, the njpw stuff was stupid, why would NJPW dump their young lions for WWE failures?

TVD vs Black should be for the NXT title

it feels infinitely more important

This is true, alas they can't beat the appeal of Indy dudes in trunks.

I don't understand, champion vs champion, the modern day maharajah!
