Fire Emblem Warriors DLC fully revealed

Ah, understood. I thought the conversation was on popularity in general.

The funny thing is, as much as I don't want this game due to the roster, I fully understand why they chose the roster they did and I think it makes perfect sense for what they're trying to do. I get that the games I prefer are in the past and that the series has moved on.

I would have enjoyed playing a game like this with a character like Ike, but it's not meant to be, for now. I can just hope that the game performs well and we get a sequel that's a bit more of a nostalgia blow out.

Hyrule Warriors had 20 unique movesets at launch. That's more than FE:W. I certainly would have taken fewer characters (Did we really need so many Fates royals?) if it meant having as many movesets as HW.
It's just a shame the only lance users are 3 identical Pegasus knights without buying DLC. That's a huge oversight, probably the biggest issue with the roster currently

If the sequel has playable Shinon, Haar and Volke all will be forgiven.

Those three were my Radiance MVPs. I just wish Volke showed up in Part 3 of RD instead of 4.

... I like Olivia and normally despise fan service.

Her relationship with her kid is super sweet.

I likely won't get the season pass but I may get the Awakening pack for her.

I support both these statements.

Yeah. If you end up not liking the pegasus moveset then you're basically locked out of an entire weapon type. It's especially bad since Frederick is in the game but they decided to give him an axe for some stupid reason.

Having the character models ready doesn't overlap with whowever is in charge of making the moves and animations for them. I'm fine with having less moves sets as long as they are all done well. Some of the ones in Hyrule Warriors were awful. The king, tingle, butterfly girl(forgot her name), fire rod, fairy. Etc

I wonder, if this had been announced as "Fire Emblem: Fates' Warriors" similar to how Persona Arena was meant to be P4-only at first, and featured only Fates' characters with maybe a guest appearance or 2 from older characters (and that allowed it to add more diversity, like Effie for an armored lance or, y'know, Azura at launch).

Would've received less roster complains since expectations were different or even more because they didn't even try to reach other games than Fates?

Lmao, it's just the same three games. Are we seriously pretending not to realize the popularity of characters like Ike, Roy and Hector?

Is there some dumb "story reason" for this? Because c'mon, it's a musou, lol. We're already matching up characters who lived thousands of years apart.

The king, Tingle, and the fairy are all fun though. Even Agitha is fun, just underpowered. The fire rod is the only moveset in the game (including all the DLC for Legends) that is actually unfun IMO.

Awesome - definitely in. Will snag season pass tomorrow morning along with game. Soooo psyched for this. Blocked out my entire night tomorrow with no wife or kid.

They did that because otherwise they'd only have one axe user. Again, for all the talk about avoiding 'too many swords' prerelease, they sure have a ton of fucking sword characters to the detriment of all the other weapon types.

I was under the impression Camilla used an axe as well as Lissa.

In hindsight their comments about not wanting too many sword users sure is funny.

The developers themselves have said they only wanted to focus on Fates, Awakening and Shadow Dragon, it was Nintendo themselves that asked for the inclusion of Lyn and Celica

I think regulating one Fate royal from each side to DLC (while being a support) would have been good, in place adding someone from another game or someone people aren't completely tired of seeing.

Azura and Tharja were obvious picks to milk fans for DLC money, feels shady since they should have been in the base roster

It's just plain bad design to implement the weapon triangle in the game and then lock a third of that triangle to one moveset in the base game. Oboro should've been in the main game, Cordelia could've been DLC instead. Bows are less of a big deal being locked to one moveset since they don't operate in the triangle, but it would've been nice to have Knives/shuriken and a ninja/thief character as well.

I seriously doubt Koei tecmo is gonna release clone characters as dlc especially if they were npc in the game. Like the Lords i think these characters well get a different moveset to make it worth the entry. Also i hope the introduce full class change for the clone character especially.

I guess what I read earlier on the thread was true after all. Shame, but hopefully there will be a good feedback to warrant a sequel with more of the FE characters that we want to see. Still getting it tomorrow.

Disappointed, but not surprised at the DLC picks. Still gonna buy everything in the hopes that we get Fire Emblem Warriors 2 with Ike, Roy, Charlotte, Maribelle, Wendy, and most importantly
no Shadow Dragon characters.

Fates
Azura - Yay, I guess. Liked her less as the story progressed, but she's fine.
Niles - AWESOME. Niles is a stellar pick.
Oboro - Ugh. Can't stand 95% of the Hoshido royalty or their retainers. She's at least one of the least bad, though.

Awakening
Tharja - HELL YEAH, BABY! Tharja is a winning pick, love her.
Owain - Great pick! I loved Owain, but seeing his clone in Fates really burned me out on him,
Olivia - Eh. Alright, I guess.

Shadow Dragon
Navarre - I
Linde - hate
Minerva - Shadow Dragon

Oh sorry, you are right. My bad. Still, that's only 3 axe characters. At least they are 3 unique movesets.

I try to pretend Camilla doesn't exist, tbh.
Madness. Camilla is amazing!

In for Linde, Minerva, and Oboro

Minerva is great. It will be nice to be able to play as a wyvern rider without wanting to shut the game off.

Oboro is also great but she should have been added in an update, not paid DLC.

Linde is meh. The final slot should have been Jagen.

Linde was my heavy hitter blue mage in FEH for the longest time. That's all I need to know about her.

Camilla is pandering fanservice trash. I get that people enjoy that stuff, but that is all her character is. Can't stand her. At least a character like Charlotte has a slightly interesting personality despite her design, and Tharja has some comedic value. Camilla has neither of those things.

Love Shadow Dragon and I think their picks were rather solid. Little surprised at no Ogma or paladin in place of Linde since I never thought she had a chance, but she's great, and hopefully Ogma has his chance someday. I'm feeling rather content with their SD choices overall.

On a sidenote because people are talking about her, I guess I like Camilla.

Fates has kind of dropped off for me after awhile because the characters as a whole weren't that...intriguing? Combat in Conquest was fine, but not many characters stood out to me and she's one of the handful that did.

If the characters can't be bought individually, they could get away with releasing two clones and one original or two originals and a clone. I just don't see them releasing a pack with only clones.

Glad this came out. Now I know I can not buy the season pass since I won't be saving any money, really. At most I might get the Shadow Dragon pack, unless Azura actually looks really good and they play up the water bending/dancing stuff.

Why no armored lance knight still, though? They blatantly said one was in the game during an interview and then they're not in the base or DLC? I'd've heavily considered the Awakening pack if Kellam was in it.

People aren't starved like they were on the Wii U. The Fire Emblem fanbase which has ballooned in recent years is not as hungry as the Zelda fanbase ever was or will be. A massive portion of the Awakening / Fates fanbase have smartphones and 3dses but does not necessarily have a switch just yet.

This shit is going to bomb hard until the price drops AND they get to dlc packs of characters people actually care about. Which may never happen?

Ok I understand being upset that your preferred characters didn’t get in but are you really going to argue no one cares about these characters.

I'd like to see a Fire Emblem Warriors 2 featuring the entire Awakening and Fates rosters
Ayyyyy haha! I don't think some fans would be happy with that.
I hope other people fund the sequel, because that base roster doesn't appeal to me at all :(
I'm not buying it either for a reason but I still hope that it doesn't underperform. It should have a chance. I'd like sequels to both HW and this game.

I'm with you, but like it or not Awakening pretty much saved Fire Emblem in the west and Fates is the best the series has ever done financially I think. Shadow Dragon seems to be their favorite to shoehorn into whatever they can so it really makes perfect sense that these are the three Nintendo seems to push the most. Those of us that started with Fire Emblem 7 in the west may not care for that, but we probably wouldn't have Fire Emblem over here at all had Awakening bombed

Even if a theoritical Fire Emblem Warriors 2 focused on Elibe/Tellius/Fire Emblem 2018, it would still have Marth. He's the face of the franchise, he's not getting left out.

Owain and Niles are cool, but the rest are pretty disappointing to me.

I think they leaned a bit too hard into waifuism when picking the roster.
