I read this has been an issue for some. Check the instructions booklet for the manual eject (I think it's on the left of the console) and go exchange it. Good luck!

My Xbox one x has shut down twice out of the blue, maybe overheating? It is in the same space as my original Xbox one, this isnt a good sign
Mine did the same when I first hooked it up...it seems to be ok now. Do you have the regular or Scorpio (not that it should matter).

Unplug it from the wall and let it sit for about a minute then try again. Sounds like a power supply issue.

Gotta say, I don't think the One X looks as nice as the One S.
The One S is possibly one of the best designed/looking consoles of all time. The X is very plain looking. Literally just a box with a power button on it. The internals are what matter but thought it was worth mentioning.

There aren't any 12-bit panels that I know of. It's more of a future proof setting. I would set it to 10-bit. That said, you won't hurt anything setting it to 12.
I would have to agree, I much prefer the look of my S as opposed to the X. I find the X to be quite boring but like you said it's what's inside that counts.
I think I messed up transfer. Was going at ~145Mb/s and I manually set one of the lower items to install instead of the on that was installing at the time, and now transfer rate is hovering ~20Mb/s. This gonna take a while. Luckily only 3 games to go. *sigh*

The X is going to make for the ultimate special editions with all the flat space on top.

A few other annoyances since I'm nitpicking...
- The cursor sound effect cutting off when entering menus. I can't believe this still hasn't been fixed. It's makes the dashboard feel really cheap.
- The dashboard is in 1080p. The ultimate 4k console and we're looking at a 1080p dashboard...
- YouTube is not in 4k yet my TV app is.

It's not Microsoft's YouTube app to update, that's up to Google.
It was originally designed to be a 4k dash but it got changed as Devs could use the extra memory for games. Which is fair enough

Developers asked for 1080p dashboard if they could get 1GB ram more for games. That's a GREAT trade off.

X1X is nice but a little disappointed that not all the games that are supposed to get graphical upgrades have gotten them yet.
The enhanced 360 games like Fallout 3 and Gears of War 3 absolutely blew me away. They look amazing

To me, that's making more compromises. Add another 1GB for the dashboard then. PS4 Pro did it.
Compromises is why the Pro and X even exist and here we are again.

Having the dash in 4K would make littler difference other than taking up an additional 1gb of memory used now for games.

Yeah and I have the pro and the 4K dash makes no difference at all, its also no smoother or much better looking. That 1gb should have been used elsewhere.

i do not play within Dashboard... and I could't care less about the dashboard design..
Allocate 1GB additional to game's resources it's a wise choice , it's "just" the main focus for a console..

Got the disk out, took ages to find something long enough, found a thin Alan key that did it.
Tried using mains from the wall, nothing. It had gave up the ghost. Just back from shop I got it from and have another one. The one thing may have attributed to it, I had my external hdd resting on the top right side of the unit, the hottest part.
I am hoping this is a one off anyway.
Thankfully it was just a normal x and not a Scorpio edition
How loud is the console while it's chucking out heat?

Both consoles were rushed to the market and weren't ready. The Pro and X are making for a lot of those mistakes. There should be no argument here.
Imo, a 4K dash while looking good, isn't really the be all and end all?
If that's the only issue people can find then X1X is off to a great start.

I'm amazed mine is silent. My on Xbox one was starting to get noisy and I expected it to be similar but this thing is even quiter which blows my mind.

Quite a few mentions of overheating consoles in the official forums or duds out of the box. Mostly Scorpio editions. Anyone had a bad one yet? Most people saying after about 20 mins or so of playing.

tv is calibrated perfectly. (sony x800d)
as per rtings site (brightness 10, contrast 98. sharpness zero etc etc)
doesnt matter if i use limited/pc rgb and corresponding tv range setting or not
(black eye in xbox hdtv calibration never shows. no matter the brightness or contrast)
never use black level setting. it introduces black crush or dulls other colours
(its at its default. zero'd setting)

Thanks, yeah I had the same problems but mine only shit off twice then never powered up again. I had my Xbox on for about 8 hours today, downloading updates and playing games etc. Shut off twice and that was it RIP.
