PS4 selling out.....

It has been sold out on Amazon since yesterday after shooting up to #4 for November in video games. It’d probably be #2 if they still had stock.

that wraps it up for nintendo

No way. If Ninty can keep up with supplies I think they're going to smash it this season.

PS4 selling out sounds good but probably not a great situation for Sony to be in. They need stock to sell when running hot promos like that. Sounds like a missed opportunity for them.

They had enough stock two years ago when they sold 1.5M and last year at 1.1M in November. If they didn’t do at least that then they have done a gross underestimate of how well they’d do this year.

Yeah that's what I meant. It sounds like they have underestimated sales at the $199 price and that's a missed opportunity. Sold out means lost sales.

Just saying it's great but probably also not the most ideal situation for Sony to be in.

Went to Best buy today in DC area (because I'm a mad man) to buy some Philips hue bulbs, and while I was standing in line I counted 22 people carrying standard ps4s. So odd seeing that many people buying consoles outside of launch day.

It's in it's golden age already, and being more affordable with tons of great games on it?

Not surprising. Hope some pickup Skyrim on PSVR. That's turned into the game that's got me hours into VR every day since release.

For sure! I wouldn’t be surprised if they still outdid 2015’s 1.5M though. I bet they could pull off 2M if they had lots of stock.

The $199(and gift card/game at several locations) helped a lot but a low price doesn’t skyrocket sells alone, it’s the past two years of great games on top of that.

My cousin wanted to get one for her husband and asked me to look for a ps4 slim and I saw that it was on sale for $199. I was like oh easy found it on discount and went to try and put into check out to then notice it was out of stock. Checked all other websites that had this deal and found nothing. RIP.

Try in store. The big retailers will tell you if they have any in store.

I do not understand this logic. Selling out this early is a great thing. It means the marketing and price drop was more effective than anticipated. It can even snowball with news that the PS4 sells out. Now it and the switch become the hot items for Christmas

Seriously, everyone wins with Sony selling beyond expectations. Even Microsoft fans benefit from this.

The number of great deal for the PS4 and the excellent library its no surprise. It will be great to see sale breakdown between the PS4 and Switch this holiday.

It's a great price. But it's really what a console should cost after four years anyway. The last hardware cycle really caused people to forget how console pricing works in a sane market.

You guys are right, PRO and slim PS4's virtually sold out everywhere...I guess we shall soon see an influx of SFV and GTS players.......

Not really surprising. Especially with the deals we had in the last few months.
Stock PS4 under 200€. PS4 PRO for ~280€ This week. In Germany we even had a PS4 PRO deal a few weeks ago where you could get 2 PROs for 300€. Which means 150€ for each console.

And then there are the exlusive titles... i guess the sales will continue like that.

Yeah, people are saying that the PS4 is selling out.

Now, obviously its popular. But I also wonder at the stock Sony provided.

It may sell out in some places, but $199 for a ps4 is not a firesale price. If it was $99 it probably would be that will never happen.

Well it's a hot product and everyone who now wants one.... can't buy one because there is none left.

Selling out so early is a sign that demand was clearly underestimated. It's a great headline sure and it's a very positive sign for PS4 demand, but I don't think it's an ideal situation for Sony. Again, no stock means lost sales.

Edit: I'm not downplaying the success of the sales, just in case it appears that way. Selling out of stock is never a BAD thing.

Not enough apparently as they had thought, it's still rather incredible that it's sold out everywhere.
But also a missed chance on PlayStation behalf for not having more stock, hopefully for those looking to buy one they keep the $199 until New Years.

Is the base ps4 still such a hot product,

I would of thought the pro,X and Switch are the hotnesses now. Ps4 is now a babies toy.

so even though the Xbox X is much more powerful people are still flocking to the PS4/Pro...what does that say about the console market?

A toy only among nerds and on GAF. 95 % of people don't give a shit about Xbox One X / PS4 Pro.

In the real world people don't spend their time counting pixels they don't see, they just enjoy playing games, go figure.

All they see is they can play all the best games (including PS4 exclusives) for $199. Base model will always be the bulk of sales share.

Meanwhile the PS4 Pro Battlefront 2 Edition is literally everywhere in Target. Seriously there was pile of them near the women's clothing area. But yeah, in my area there was no regular PS4 on shelves.

I think you'll find the slim (vanilla) consoles will easily take the bulk of sales share this holiday season.

I guess im thinking of gamers like myself who want the latest tech.

The majority of people buying consoles are probably parents buying for there kids with there 32inch 1080p tvs in there bedroom, and for that purpose base ps4/makes perfect sence, I would of been in gaming heaven if I had a PS4/X1 as a kid.

Those people are a small minority. And most of them play on PC anyway, not on consoles.

That's why Xbox One X / PS4 Pro won't ever set the sales charts on fire. They're niche products.

About that PlayStation probably isn't too happy with that deal now, it's almost like EA screwed them over.
On-topic: it's mind boggling that someone finds it strange that the base PS4 would outsell Pro/XBOX, the former probably sold more than Switch, Pro and XBOX combined...go figure.

except its not selling out anywhere where i am....San Antonio TX... which is a big city, but you should take headlines from a site which favors a certain console with a grain of salt.

Yes.
However despite what Sony and MS have said I think the pro and X will be supported for 6-8yrs.

The pro will be $199 in 2020 and the X will be in $250-300 range. I just dont think sony and MS will throw away the chance of having a console at mass market prices.
