PC Gaming Mice: Post your rodent! (keyboards welcome)

So my Razer Copperhead finally gave up the ghost. I'll be using a cheapo wireless notebook mouse until I can replace it, and I'm looking for some suggestions. I generally use a fingertip grip, and I'm not a big fan of the MX518 or its clones. My budget is a paltry $50, and extra buttons aren't a very big concern. My current top candidate is the Razer Abyssus, but I'd love to hear some suggestions from some of the less common brands like Cooler Master, Mionix, or Roccat.

Get the Abyssus, but don't use it on a cloth pad, it needs a hard surface or it jitters pretty badly unless you get lucky and find one that does not.

This is well documented. All those other brands less the CM storm spawn, are bad for fingertip.

There are some issues with sensor at 800dpi/250hz which the cm representatives say is because the sensor wasn't really designed for it, but I use 1800 so it doesn't affect me personally.

Currently own the Sidewinder X5, but the scroll wheel doesn't scroll smoothly in a certain spot, as though it's running through tar or something, so it's annoying as hell. I've even taken it apart but I can't see what would be causing it.

A shame because I haven't used the thing very much.

Looking for something inexpensive to replace it with.

Work: Evoluent Vertical Mouse VM4 regular size

I have been using it about 2 months now and the wrist pain that I was experiencing is all but gone. I use the keyboard on my laptop at work. It is like shaking hands with the mouse.

Play: Razer Deathadder (new version) with cheapo Dell keyboard

Both on a steelseries qck heavy mat that gives me 15 x 18 inches of mousing surface

My previous GF bought me this for my birthday:

Bought this with the new gaming rig:

Razer%20Lycosa.jpg

Only issue I have with the Lycosa is that you can't dim the backlight. It's either bright or it's not.

I use the mamba and I used to have the lycosa.
Great keyboard, I like the WASD lighting only. Although I bought the blackwidow next but to be honest, the dimmest lighting isn't that much dimmer than the lycosa.

Hmm, really? That sounds like a pretty big gaffe on Razer's part, considering how soft surfaces outnumber hard ones so dramatically. I'll look into the CM Storm, but I'll definitely pick up a plastic mousepad before purchasing an Abyssus. Thanks for the tip.

How's the MS sidewinder Keyboard? Looks good, also at a good price

I used the x4 before recently upgrading to a mechanical keyboard

Had no issues, extremely solid all around keyboard.

I had a Mamba (piece of fucking shit broke after minimal light usage) and am currently holding out for the Steelseries Sensei. If that ends up sucking ass I'll just pick up a G9x and call it a day. Also use a mechanical keyboard.

Thank you, that's all I'm looking for, so I'm really considering getting it, my current one sucks (one of those cheap Genius ones) and I'm not super competitive to dish out $100+ for a keyboard, the price hits the sweet spot for me

I'm looking for a new computer mouse for my laptop. My price range is $40 or less.
I'm currently looking at

Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GOUE7O/?tag=neogaf0e-20

or the SteelSeries Kinzu Optical Gaming Mouse
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002NIGDIA/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I can't seem to tell what the DPI for either mouse is. Does DPI increase the speed and accuracy? I want something somewhat fast because I like it that way and so that I can get used to the speed for when I get into PC gaming later this year.

I prefer a matte finish for the mouse buttons. In previous pages in this thread, many raved about the $99 model steelseries mouse, but is this lower cost steelseries model good as well?

For mouse pads, will a basic staples one do?

I have been looking at the SteelSeries QcK mass
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001O867XG/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Does anybody have any experience with it? It seems to cost about the same as a basic staples one.

Speed, not accuracy.

It's available everywhere.

not newegg. and more expensive than most other mice on amazon...

I'd probably just get a razor to replace it since I really don't like the g500's ergonomics

Good, because you bought a mouse with a good sensor instead of one with a bad one :).

For the record, the G400 is the replacement for the 518, not the G500.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
I see this in best buy and think it looks perfect for my uses....I'm thinking it's between this and a steelseries mouse, anyone used both? How do they fare, and how does the finish on both feel?

I wasn't sure where to ask this question. This thread seems appropriate. I started playing a little Crysis 2 and I noticed an issue I've had in the past with other shooters. When lining up my shots on distant targets, my cross hairs jump several pixels with the smallest possible movement. I decreased the sensitivity to a setting that I feel is uncomfortably low and I still have the issue. I'm using a MX518 and the dpi setting is 1800. I disabled pointer acceleration. Any suggestions? Any other settings I should be looking into? Should I be looking at a different mouse?

This is the mouse I have. My old Logitech G5 mouse died and they don't make them anymore, so it was great when I won one of these mice in a contest and it's essentially a perfect replacement. :D

Razer Deathadder Mac Edition, yeah, old school.

Situation depending, I should hopefully have a 4G Mamba & Stealth Blackwidow Ultimate during the holidays.

I love my Razer gear.

Impossibly good combination. The Edge is a wonderful keyboard, nice and quiet, fantastic BT performance. Even the touchpad on it is entirely usable when I'm too lazy to use the G7.

My mx518 was being annoying with the buttons sticking. Says I bought it 7/13/2007 so 4 years isn't too awful. I expected better though. My previous mx510 lasted around the same. Anyway, this was on sale so got it for $69.99. So awesome. It's back at 99.99 on newegg though. Hopefully it lasts longer than 4 years, as it cost so much.

Picked this mouse up for 49.99 during the BF sales (Amazon) and I'm hugely shocked. Tons of buttons. The ability to program macros. Lots of DPI on the fly settings (would be great for vehicles if I actually played BF 3).

It's got the ability to transfer data over cable when plugged into the USB. But I'm not noticing any performance problems when running wirelessly. Last Logitech gaming wireless mouse I tried was years ago and it sucked. This thing is great. And I'm running at default updates 500/sec. Haven't even cranked to 1000/sec in Gaming Performance mode.

Also love that it ships with a standard Eneloop AA battery. I've got a recharger and 4 spare Eneloops sitting around, so I doubt I'll ever plug this thing in now.

Actually glad my Deathadder gave up the double-click ghost (3+ years). This thing is fantastic.

EDIT: Logitech G700 in case anyone is wondering.

Still using my Mamba, but I'll likely be switching to a Steelseries Xai when it bites the bullet. Wireless has been mighty nice, though, I'll admit. It's nice to not have any resistance from a wire whatsoever.

As for keyboards, I ordered myself a WASD Keyboards with Cherry MX Brown switches and 23A switch dampeners. Should be ariving this week! Excite!

(I ordered mine with laser etched keys, not blank as the one posted above)

Keyboard: Apple Aluminum Keyboard (with Numpad). Love the keyboard, hate the dumb stuff I had to do to get the special keys to work on a PC.

Mouse: Logitech MX Revolution. I love it, but the battery barely holds a charge anymore. G9X is on the way as a replacement. I wish the new wireless Logitechs still had cradles...why Logitech, why? :(

Do all newer Logitech wireless mice take AAs now? I am still running with my MX Revolution and I pray to god it'll last a couple more years. The cradle has already been giving me trouble (sometimes it takes me 20 minutes of maneuvering to get it to start charging). Barring that, is the G700 all it's cracked up to be? I'm almost tempted to go back cordless but I think I'll stick with wireless. Is the Performance MX crappy enough that I don't need to worry about even considering it?
