Pushmo/Pullblox |OT| of pushing, pulling and QR codes

I'm gonna buy the game in a day or two. knowing me I'll probably end up making a yoshi sprite. what color do you guys want?

edit: if possible I can try to make a rainbow yoshi.

It would be really easy for someone to copy your level and just change the colour to whatever they want. :p So go nuts.

I unlocked the larger grid so I made my *real* traditional inaugural Megaman sprite. :p

I like that the ladders and arrows mean I don't have to butcher the sprite to make it into a playable level. This one shouldn't be immediately obvious to new players but if you're at the point where you can actually download this level, you shouldn't have much trouble with it. :p There's a bit of creative jumping required.

Tutorial is annoying as fuck. Just let me play. I get it.

The fuck? It won't let me download that Mega Man one right away. Don't tell me what I can't do!!!!!

#76 so good... I haven't created a puzzle yet but will do soon.

So good. In the span of 2 weeks 3DS has become a beast.

I subscribe, Sir. With Mario 3D Land, MK7 and this the 3DS has become my main system in the last few weeks.

The next one who argues that Nintendo hasn't created a new IP in 10 years will be linked to the OT. Killer app right here...

Is Intelligent Systems Nintendo owned?

Edit: Ah, they are behind Fire Emblem and Advanced Wars. Damn.

Boughttt, my first 3DSware (yeah) title that is not a VC game or the free Excitebike.

Damn it, Catherine nightmares surfacing once again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n66tyluciT4

Must... push... not fall... but luckily this title is more casual friendly and the gameplay is easier to grasp.

The graphics and style are definitely cute, the music is awesome bit a bit of chiptunes-ey (but it's not full 8-bit) and i already love it.

The gameplay is interesting and the QR function is definitely the software's prominent thing. (imho it doesn't even need Streetpass, this QR thing is more open and easy to use... maybe add Spotpass for some weekly Nintendo puzzles?)
Compare it to WarioWare where everyone had to add the creator to their friends list... this is so much better!

Am i forgetting something? oh yeah, i expected an iOS like game but this is definitely on another level.
Some iOS games have plenty on content and smart gameplay too, like Cut the Rope, but the majority of titles, well, don't get me started.

Colour me impressed because while Pullblox is a "little game" it already looks impressive content wise, the price is very good.

Duck Hunt, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Paper Mario and Warie Ware to name a few more. Not sure if they did something for non-Nintendo systems at some point...

You would think after all these years I would know their name. I always consider these games blanket - NINTENDO.

Wait, i pulled a Catherine comparison after the training but World 1 shows how much this game is more platform oriented already (there's a jump mechanic after all).
The push-pull thing is there, but the game itself is different.

Seriously, this is good, and for €6?
And the music!

Next, in a few months, give me a Mario vs. DK 3DS e-shop title with QR codes and improved online.

You need to unlock tunnels and arrows (In the second tutorial world, I forget the stage numbers) and larger levels (109) to download that level.

I looked in the options and saw the option to turn off the music and I was like "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!"

I built a stage around my joy of jumping diagonally at a block on a different "layer":

Others that I did based on sprites I had previously made:

I think this one is kinda dumb. It started as a gator head I couldnt get to function as a puzzle so I kept fiddling with it having no regard for the original shape:

A new WarioWare DIY with QR codes... *drool*

Jeez this too!! Get on it, Nintendo!

I don't know if a QR code could hold enough data for WarioWare games. Mainly because of the amount of custom artwork involved.

EDIT: I certainly hope they let us export QR codes for Animal Crossing patterns though. I'd also love if you could export a Friend Code QR that lets someone add you as a 3DS friend just by reading the QR.

Oh yeah. Wasn't thinking. Maybe it could have communities that store member's games/music/comics and you could make a QR code for those? I dont know if thatd be possible.
Still I presume a 3DS WarioWare DIY would have far easier distribution than the DS one

I almost forgot about Catherine lol. How close is it to this game? I only tried the demo, liked it, but not $60 liked it.

Anyhow, I finally reached the switches and ladders, pretty nice pace change. I wish the old man (tutorials) were shorter or nonexistent. That's my only gripe so far, and it's a pretty small one.

It'd be possible. They could basically have each player have an online store, just like with WarioWare DIY, but then instead of needing to be friends to get the levels you could just read a QR code that redirects the game to the right download if it's there, or throw an error saying it's no longer available if it's not. It's still limited, but easier than before.

I didn't mind the second set of tutorials as much since there's not as much talking there, but the first set of tutorials were a bit longwinded.

So I was trying to play for a bit yesterday and found myself unable to negotiate a platform -- it seemed like something was hidden from my view, and I was puzzled...

A moment later, I realized my 3D slider was in the OFF position, for some odd reason. After fixing that, everything was perfectly visible & playable.

Pushmo really seems to be a game that wouldn't work nearly as well if it weren't in 3D. Now, granted, that could just be the camera choice, but currently there is a clear disconnect between playing in 2D versus 3D.

QR codes max out at just over 4000 alphanumeric characters so yeah, I think DIY games would be pushing it.

EDIT: Yeah, a redirect to the store would be fine

It uses a very narrow camera FOV, so it's a bit harder to perceive depth in 2D. In 3D you can easily see how pushed each piece is even with the slider at minimum.

The FOV also seems to make the 3D really easy on the eyes: it seems to mimic the fov you'd get if you were holding a cardboard version of the level behind the 3DS. In this game it fells like the objects are actually there behind the screen.

This game is secretly superior in 3D from a gameplay standpoint and not just for prettiness. :p

This is the first time I've bought a downloadable game for a Nintendo console (aside from VC) and it's been well worth the purchase from the little I've played through.

Here's my first attempt at a puzzle. Looks a bit cruel, I'll admit, but it's not actually all that difficult.

I'll try something a bit more serious soon.

First attempt at making a level.

2QKm7.jpg

It's actually pretty tough. (at least it was for me)
This was a seriously good level, and I usually don't enjoy gimmicky themed levels. The
"jump"
was very tricky, and took me a couple of minutes to figure out.

I just noticed a very strange thing about this game. Its more confusing and more taxing on my eyes to play this game in 2d than in 3d. Somehow the puzzles make more sense and I'm able to wrap my mind around the 3 step depth of the puzzles better with 3d on. I think all the bold black lines in 2d make blocks seem like they're on the same plane or something. Just an observation I had as I made my way through some puzzles.

Well that does make sense. It's much easier to see the depth with S3D and considering that the game's main mechanic hinges on adjusting (and viewing) the depth of these blocks, it only stands to reason that the game is easier to play in S3D.

Yeah its just odd. I think this game makes a better case for 3d gaming than 3D Land although that game's use of 3d is awesome as well.

Is it just me or is playing this game in 2D a little bit nauseating?
I literally got sick when I played through an entire level with the 3D off. The camera angle and FOV are purposely trying to screw everyone playing this in 2D lol.

Yeah I think its definitely because of the bold black lines and the angle they chose. In 2d its hard to tell which depth the blocks are at in relation to each other because the black makes them all look the same. It kinda makes me feel sick too.

Somebody should buy it for him. Or show him this thread. Where is Amirox anyway? I thought he liked puzzle games.

The 3DS' library has great games nowadays, but this gem is the first that makes me feel the system is a real DS successor.

Really great game here. I wouldn't have feel ripped off if paid retail price for this.
Neither would I but I suspect less people would have picked it up at retail, hype would have been muted and ultimately less of us would have bitten. Perfect candidate for a DD title, and its really really good. I hope Nintendo see just rewards for this one! I didn't think anything would be able to prise me away from MK or 3DL this soon.

Please don't start a 5 page discussion about whether or not the 3D in this one ads to the gameplay with Ami. I beg you! :(
I promise I won't! But the issue is gonna rise every time a game comes out that benefits from 3D. This game definitely does that.

It's glorious. But getting very tricky at No. 130.

A QR code couldn't hold enough data for WW games, but it could hold enough to *link* to a WW game.

Buy this game if you want to see the potential of 3D.

I find it almost unplayable in 2D, because it doesn't have a dynamic camera: if they added that it could very well be a DSiWare game or so, but you would have to move the camera every second.
Basically, it should be a dual analog game.

With 3D this isn't necessary and - hey - until Pilotwings Resort and DoA i thought 3D was just a (nice) add with no gameplay value.
I'm impressed.
Also i'm getting Picross vibes from the game.

Yes.
Well, it already has a much better Mario game than NSMB DS and 90% of the DS platform games, but other than that the DS was/is so great that it's not easy for the successor to prove its worth.
This is a nice step.
