Jaffe posted some sample custom skins on his twitter.

I don't think you can change the hair or clown nose, but it looks like you can skin the clown head to make it look closer to Jaffe.

Yup I remember those. I figure you're right about that. Would still make for one damn interesting sight. lol

Holy shit I never laughed so hard.

Think for my vehicle customization I am going to slap a big Jaffe face on the side or hood, and underneath it will say "Is Not Impressed".

Good news. David went on a tweetathon tonight and someone asked him about reviews. He thinks it's Monday when the embargo is lifted. Said certainly no later then Tuesday morning for sure. So it looks like my prediction may have been on the money. So hopefully we'll get to see the press talk about how it's too tough and the controls are too hard to figure out soon.

Dammit, u took mine

Edit: No matter, I found my own

Classic Jaffe > Modern Jaffe

ROFLMAO. At least David is having some laughs tonight thanks to you guys. Poor guy has been getting beaten up for his Dice speech on Twitter by people who didn't even watch it tonight. And dear god I truly have no life when I sit all night and watch twitter. smh

Haha. I think it's great that he manages to be so vocal despite the fact that what he says gets turned into twisted (pun intended) or generalized headlines on sites like N4G where its become popular and easy to do such things. Most others would just shut up and not deal with it. His DICE speech, and his thing on BJs were overblown, but people will read a headline and wont take the time out to actually listen. This fits right into the fear I also have about some websites complaining about the difficulty of controls/gameplay, but to be perfectly honest I am more optimistic than others seem to be that reviews will actually enjoy working with the game... despite the awful demonstrations by IGN, GS, and Machinima lol. So, to answer MuseManMike's earlier question, I am predicting TM scores to be in the 85+

Really? a rap from that guy.. In the credits.. For twisted metal!?
You weren't around for that whole controversy?

No, but I agree. HHG is charlatan and a liar. It's unbelievably infuriating that his petty little existence is being validated in such a manner.

I remember him supposedly doing a rap about the game but I didn't expect it to actually make it into the game... Wtf

I could be absolutely wrong. Maybe it never went through, but I thought at one point there was a plan to include the song in the game.

?

I find this humorous

Are you worried by the fact that your game – which has vehicle melee elements – is releasing in the same month as Twisted Metal, arguably the biggest vehicle melee game in existence?

Not much. All the mission types are very different. I’m a sucker for mindless fun but that was not what I wanted to make because that way, it directly competes with Twisted Metal or FlatOut so this thing will again separate our game from Twisted Metal. Our weapons are more of melee or close ranged ones like blades, saws, plungers, electric shock, sonic boom and magneto repulsor unlike Twisted Metal’s guns and rockets. Smash ‘N’ Survive is totally different from Twisted Metal. In fact, it’s an honour to be compared against Twisted Metal.

Still nice to see car combat making a comeback, and this will probably be a pretty fun family friendly alternative.

But when so many people are easily influenced by reviews which directly relates the game's longevity to the reviews scores it makes it something you take interest in even if you already committed to buying the game.

Holy cow, man, is that a single sentence?

I'm super hyped. Sucks knowing that there are going to be out there playing while I wait for it to get in around Friday. Guess they figured there'd be no market in Japan. :p

Jaffe, I love you but you're getting fatter. Get that shit sorted.

Will buy TM.

Yo man, that's what working crazy hours for 3 1/2 years on something that you're utterly passionate about will do to you; especially in the game industry.

Is Sony just not going to advertise the game at all? I haven't even seen a Google Ad.

Considering it's Sony and they're almost broke and it's Twisted Metal which has never been a game that does COD numbers you won't see many if any either. Marketing and pushing their games is the largest area Sony has failed this gen. Past gens you couldn't turn the TV on without seeing a Playstation ad pushing the newest game. Now you're lucky if you see any. When you do it's an ad just for the console.

*wishes he had PS3 to play nuTwisted Metal*

The original Twisted Metal is the game that made me fall in love with the original PlayStation.

Also that word of mouth is one of the best means of advertising, and this game will surely get good word of mouth.

Nice OT, but where's the "flaming chainsaw" reference in the thread title? D:

Hate to say this but "Don't Eat. Don't Sleep. Play" sounds boring and not twisted metal.

I have to agree that "Don't Eat. Don't Sleep. Play" is boring, awkward and just doesn't fit. Get something game related or at least funny up there. +1 for something flaming chainsaw related. Or change it to "Don't Eat. Don't Sleep. Just Play" to make it less awkward. But I suppose that ship has sailed.

Anyway, this is going to be the longest 3 days of my life. Plus with it coming out on VDay my time to play day 1 will be limited. =\ But man I cannot wait to go all in on this bitch. I want to platinum it... we'll see if the game keeps me motivated to do so!

Well Jaffe will be pleased, when he visits this thread, to have found out he has spawned a cult of Jaffe.

Or maybe he will be freaked out

Oh he's already seen it. I'd wager to say that based off his tweets seeing this stuff last night it made his night.

Review embargo lifts tuesday at 9amPST. However I think I, and hopefully others, will be waiting a bit until I can see how well multiplayer performs out in the wild, so to speak.

It seems like what Sony has done this gen is market games the week they come out and a little the week after they come out. Its really sad to see how they pull the plug on marketing games. Its a Kevin Butler ad that they run for a couple weeks and then some banner ads on the web.

I hope they at least give Twisted a Kevin Butler ad and throw it out there for a week. Word of mouth will push this game but its still good to let people know this game is out there. Sadly I don't think that Sony will even do that much. I hope I am wrong.

And yeah the PS2 and PS1 had great marketing. It use to be that they would pimp something hard for the week before it was out, the week it was out, and the week after it was out. And then they would phase out the ads for the next couple weeks. So for like 5 weeks you would see ads for a game. Now its lucky you see them for two.

Based on the demo, I fully expect this game to be universally praised, so I don't understand why Sony is waiting until the release date to lift the embargo.

That suggests, at least to me, that they believe the game will not see positive reviews.

Given it's diffculty and not readily apparent depth, I don't expect rave reviews to be stellar.

TMB averaged 91% and it was a difficult game, especially for newcomers. I realize that was 10 years ago and the game industry has changed a lot, but it would still really surprise me if this game received negative, or even mixed reviews. I'm not sure why Sony are so hesitant to have review scores released before the game goes on sale.

Reviews don't even matter to me. If you enjoyed the demo, imagine that on more maps. If you didn't get to play the demo, but you enjoyed TM in the past, read the impressions and watch videos. Anyone worth a damn enjoyed themselves. If you're new to the series and didn't get to try the demo....well, sucks for you, but trust me the game's really fun.
