How have people felt over the years with Star Wars sets? Haven't some been better than others?

I wonder if Lego might just be testing the waters with the first batch. That if they get enough support whether we will see more improvements in additional sets.
I am a little let down by a couple of them, but I want to get them all anyway. Maybe I am too hopeful.

On the other hand, Lego is releasing a ton of new sets in both old and new themes this year. Maybe they are spreading themselves too thin? "Like butter, scraped over too much bread."

Star Wars has gone "viral". I think that's the way I want to put it...But you get the idea - that license has just gone CRAZY. While some sets don't deliver like others do, the license as a whole has done amazing things for Lego.

LOTR is unique. I don't thing younger children recognize it like they do Star Wars. I could come up with some long description as to why I feel one way or another, but I can't really put it into words. It's hard to say how well it will do, but you make a point regarding them testing the waters with this theme. It's a huge acquisition for Lego that's for sure, so I'm sure they won't screw it up!

FWIW I didn't think the TIE Fighter was as bad a build as some people have said. There's a fair amount of repetition with the two main wing panels but I enjoyed it and it makes a really impressive model when finished.

The body was the most fun part to build, but the wings were meh while building. But it looks so fucking cool when done.

The other cool thing with the set is that you could theoretically use the body as a beginning to making your own TIE Interceptor.

I want to start making a MOC castle, but I have only sorted half of my old collection. I have been separating things into bags for a while now, but now there are so many bags I need to finally break down and buy some bins with drawers or dividers. The collection of bricks I have doesn't look too impressive when in the old rubbermaid containers, but when I dumped them on the floor last night my wife said "Holy shit!" And that was only half of the collection.

LEGO!!!!!

I still have a box o LEGO i've kept throughout the years (the ones that didnt get sucked up in the vacuum).

I'd have to say, that my DREAM build would be the Arwing from STARFOX.

Picked up the Mini Modulars at the Lego store today, fun stuff. If you have built one of the full versions of the minis, its doubly entertaining to see how they shrank it down.

Minus: Didn't have any minifigs :(

Plus: Came with a brick separator! Was not expecting that!

I'm not holding my breath, they haven't done any UCS for any of their other movie licenses. I would have loved a UCS Hogwarts.

They have made HP sets with a lot of pieces though, such as Diagon Alley with over 2,000pcs. Judging by these initial set prices, either the LotR license is pretty cheap or they are eating some of the cost to intro the line. If it is the former, they should be able to craft some pretty large sets while staying close to the 10c/piece threshold.

I guess it will depend how well they sell, which if we went by this thread would not be that well, but I've seen a lot of enthusiasm on other forums. We'll see...

My eyes, they burn!

That LEGO wave is pretty cool though.

EDIT: Just noticed the sand castle. I am warming up to this set after all.

The early HP sets were designed to be combined to form a huge Hogwarts campus that was pretty cool. I think I have an old pic of the whole assembly somewhere that I'll have to dig up.

I do hope these initial, smaller sets for LotR are out there to test the market, and some sizable stuff makes it out in following years.

While watching videos of Gary putting the TIE fighter together, I can only assume a black hole passed through the Bay Area, and that is the reason for the time dilation and skips.

Wow Town Hall is much bigger than the other street modulars! WANT.

Yup - its got a lot of height on the other modulars.

Also, those pics...Seaside House is really the only set that interests me at the moment. The Monster theme is meh, some I may pickup, but otherwise, a bit underwhelming.

LEGO announced today that it has renewed its Star Wars licensing deal for another 10 years, so maybe they'll get around to the rest of my wish list.

Town Hall looks like it's going to tower over the other modulars. And I don't know where I'm going to find space for all seven of these things connected together. I honestly hope they keep the line going forever though, haha.

Wow town hall looks awesome, problem is now is I only have Fire Brigade which has a point on it too. Wondering if I should buy emporium or pet shop first to avoid having those two right next to each other for a while.

Anyone here remember Fabuland? It used to be the transition from Duplo to Lego.
God I loved those figures as a kid. It got discontinued in the end of the eighties.

I wish I had a more permanent place than the dining table for building. I can't neatly sort parts into groups as they need clearing away afterwards. So I'm sticking with bags for now - couldn't do a large chaos build like that pet shop

OMG, I LOVED Fabuland. These were some of my very first sets. I remember I had some kind of amusement park or merry-go-round that I thought was pretty rad back then. They were simple sets, but perfect for those young years. Plus, animal people minifigs are awesome.

All the Tested sparked Lego fever going on lately got me to buy my goddaughter a box of Lego for her birthday and myself a baby Tie Fighter, seen here experiencing the ultimate crossover.

The Lego proved to be the 'hit' present with everyone in the thick of it building and fighting over pieces, and I was looking to find the right set to start collecting again since my old Lego Pirate ships have 'disappeared' according to my mum.

I've been looking at this Lighthouse Island set and I was wondering if there's anything else that would fit into a cliff-side English village theme?

Ironman's head is enormous.

Hopefully its just a prototype, I noticed the other characters have stickers for their chest detail (Captain America for example)

The problem with the marvel sets, along with the new DC and LOTR ones are that I'm only really interested in the minifigures but I'm going to have to buy hundreds of dollars worth of lego to get all the avengers and the fellowship :(

I'm assuming its a removable helmet?

This might explain why it's so big

Captain America's Cycle: $12.99 72 pieces Captain America
Loki's Cosmic Cube: $19.99 181 pieces Loki, Iron Man, Hawkeye
Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout: $49.99 389 pieces Hulk, Loki, Thor, Hawkeye
Quinjet Aerial Battle: $69.99 735 pieces Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow
Wolverine's Chopper: $19.99 201 pieces Wolverine, Deadpool, Magneto

I guess I could get away with buying all of them except Loki's Cosmic Cube :|

I didn't really like the DC versions of the mech things but I don't mind the marvel ones...

4597 Captain America $14.99 USD 44 pieces
4530 Hulk $14.99 USD 39 pieces
4529 Iron Man $14.99 USD 44 pieces

I'm not a huge fan of all the stickers on the Avengers stuff - seems like there will be more than usual. And that head on Iron Man is absolutely ridiculous. Lego really needs to be smarter than that...

I think I may require that Quinjet and Cap's motorcycle. I'm not as into Wolvie's chopper, but I do want the Deadpool minifig, so maybe that one too.

Someone posted this on the Flickr sets. They should just go with this printed head and make a separate Tony Stark minifig if they must.

Bought the gold leader Y-wing from TRU on sale yesterday. Looking forward to adding it to my collection.

Oh god, I sold my gaming collection 5 years ago swearing off collecting this anymore. What HAVE YOU ALL DONE?
