Some sort of bird. Basically picked up the long red piece and built it from there without any planning or corrections and came up with this.

You could change this a little and use green bricks to make a Yoshi. That looks like his tongue eating an apple.

I just finished building the Mini-Modular set the other day (which I loved!), and I made it a little project to build the pet shop for myself (since it wasn't included). I eventually got stuck and found out that someone posted a render of a mini Pet Shop just a few days ago!

Mini Pet Shop via Flickr

My problem is that the pet shop is actually 2 separate buildings on 4x8 bases.
Does anyone know how the builder managed to evenly space the windows in that model?
I've been messing around with anything I can think of, but I still haven't figured it out!

I think you grabbed the wrong link, I'm seeing a tank.

This is my current shopping/wish list:

Apple Tree House
Hillside House
Seaside House
Robie House
Town Hall
Big Ben (on the fence about the other new Architecture stuff)
Jabba's Palace (maybe, need a better look at it)
Skiff/sarlacc pit

Really don't care about the Avengers/LOTR stuff at all.

Just finished my mini modulars today! The last two were pretty interesting -- lots of offset windows and the cool bell design on the Fire Brigade, and the Grand Emporium has some cool detailing. I'd definitely buy more sets in this vein.

I think it's three inward-facing "headlight bricks" stacked with a plate on top, placed sideways and attached on the inside. I'm not sure how they'd be attached though.

Yeah, I just can't figure out how he managed to space them apart so well.

I guess U just have to hope this guy eventually posts a cross section of the buildings.

Until then I think I'm better off trying to make a miniature version of the upcoming Town Hall.
Having an 8x8 base will make much easier to make, plus I can use some of the tricks used by the official miniatures.

I think it's just the normal spacing. The left end appears to have a smaller gap than the right end -- the right end is the stud end with the flat plate on top:

Wow, I never would have figured that out, thank you!
Maybe now I'll be able to finish my own build/reverse engineer that Flickr guy's build.

I just can't believe I'm getting back into LEGO only a few weeks after they shut down the custom LEGO set program. :(
At least I can still use the LDD to design them and buy the bricks once I get the design to my satisfaction.

I don't think I'll have too much trouble doing the Town Hall miniature, since I'll have the full 8x8 to work with and I should be able to use some of the tricks that the official miniatures used.

Awww, I guess too Lego-looking for children.

Do people use Duplo bricks along with the "regular" Lego bricks when building stuff?

Difficulty being that while you can put a Duplo brick onto a Lego plate, but there really is no way to put Lego bricks on top of Duplo bricks. I recall trying it when I was first making my transition, oh so many years ago. And it would look odd to mix them anyway.

So I built the log cabin tonight and once I was finished the kid in me took over.

Imperial Shuttle ordered. $220 just seems like too good a price to pass up.

It has been that price for a while. Hopefully it is still that price when my tax refund is deposited later this week. Can't wait to order that.

My UCS SD arrived. Assemble the fleet!

Man, the regular Star Destroyer is so sexy.

I am still on the fence about the SSD though. I keep flip flopping between an iPad 3 or the SSD. So hard to decide.

You know what some super crazy fan needs to do? Make an SSD MOC that is to scale with the UCS Star Destroyer. That thing would be the size of a house.

Well, the Star Destoyer is about 1:1600 scale (37" long for simple math is 1 meter, in actuality is .94 meter), and Star Destroyers are 1600 meters long.

The Executor, which is the basis for the LEGO SSD is 19,000 meters long, so a scale lego model would need to be about 12m long, or about 40 feet.

That would be a far more noble project that a prequel star destroyer.

I don't know, that 2.4m Venator was pretty damn impressive to see in person.

Shit, it is impressive in pictures. I am in awe at that build. It is fucking impressive. But to do something that scale or larger for superior ships like an Imperial Star Destroyer or Super Star Destroyer would be more awesome.

Depends, because SSD will be around for a while since its a new release. Keep that in mind when deciding on huge sets! :)

The Imperial Shuttle is a no brainer. I am ordering that without question. One, because it looks fucking awesome and is a great price. Two, because it is going to go OOP soon.

The SSD is awesome looking too, and seeing all these builds of it is torturing me. The iPad 3 would be nice, but honestly I dont know if I really NEED to upgrade the iPad 1 I have. And if I did, my wife would get my iPad 1. Perhaps get the SSD now and save up for the iPad 3 and use birthday money in August as well. Give Apple time to work out kinks.

The real major consideration with the SSD is display space. I really cannot find a good place to display it except on the kitchen counter, which would not go over well. But hell, I would find some way to display that beauty if I bought it.

Not a huge fan of Market street or the green grocer (the bay windows just look too big to me). which is useful as I can put them out of my mind and save myself a fortune

Really? The green grocer? it's one of my favourites, it's probably a toss up between the grand emporium and the green grocer as my favourite modular

Hey I'm not the one who posted a pic of a UCS Star Destroyer!

True, but the UCS Star Destroyer is OOP, and I refuse to pay those prices for its sexiness.

They really should pay me Will and Norm, goodness knows how many sets we've helped sell...

They should. Shit, this thread should be endorsed by Lego. It has been torture reading it, and I am a weak man who keeps reading it. I was so tempted to grab a Y-Wing at Toys R Us today since it was down to $42 or so, but I was strong.

But within a week or so the Imperial Shuttle will be here. That is the one I am the most excited about just because of how perfect it looks once constructed.

On a different note, I used some of the support beams from my old Futuron Monorail set as a stand for the new X-Wing. Now it is displayed with S-Foils in attack positions.

Yeah, Green Grocer's great. While the first two are nice in their own right, GG really adds that extra pop of detail. It's my favorite of the OOP modulars.

Always intrigued to see what the next modular will be. Already excited for 2013's set! I'd love to see an antique shop. Or a quaint bookstore/coffee shop.

I'm hesitant to display the X-Wing in attack position as it seems like that would be additional stress on the rubber bands.

I thought about this, but then I figure rubber bands are something I can always replace myself with a trip to the hardware store. If they're going to decompose and break like other LEGO rubber bands, it's going to happen either way. There's still stress on them even with the wings folded down.

I would like a big brick school.

Told you they worked brilliantly.

It was your post about it that made me dig the support beams out. I had to add a few bricks to the front to make it level, but it does look cooler in attack position.

That was my concern as well, especially after the rubber bands on my destroyer droid snapped and dry rotted after a year or two. But...

There is this. The bands are under stress either way. That is my only reservation about the X-Wing set. I am not a fan of rubber bands on sets because of this. I know why they do it, but it doesnt mean I have to like it.

Anyone know how often the LEGO store does double VIP points? I was thinking of getting the SSD around that time but since it's so new I might go for the Imperial Shuttle instead as I don't want it to go OOP.

Let me know if you figure out how that chunk is attached to the main building... that part has me completely stumped. The inner studs all end up at really weird offsets.

I think first two weeks of March is double VIP. Get ready!

Yeah I know about that, just wondering if it's a once a year type of thing or what. Either way something big will be purchased. Until recently I didn't want any of the city modulars either but after see yours and so many other photos I'm really tempted...
