This is a common misconception. Getting it early has its advantages. And it doesn't mean you have to lose out financially, or you have to be a rabid Sony/PSP fan. When PSP was first launched, I imported one of the firsts from Japan. Since I got it early, I had a headstart to create a popular PSP wallpaper site. Also wrote a PSP media sync shareware for Windows. I made some money off these early efforts, and learned some new tech. It also helped me land my current work (Just a little). ^_^ It's all about how you want to use your time and resources.

For Vita, I'm more curious about PS Suite for Vita. For now, I just want to know its limitations. ^_^

You *can* have the cake and eat it too sometimes.
Ok...well that's fine, but I am not THAT eager to have one like right now, I can simply wait, and save money.

So there is a batch of Vita FEB case's that either fell into a sewage waste vat or people were chain-smoking around them. Fine care for such a carrying case for a high-tech toy.

What's the best Vita case, besides the one that comes with the FEB?

Got mine today, it's by far the best portable hardware I've gotten my hands on, whether from a physical hardware to a software interface standpoint, too bad they don't have netflix up yet, compared to the PSP it's basically night and day in terms of how much thought they've put into it.

Near says there are 22 people in my area with a Vita. I wonder how close is "near?"

The Near radar shows you the scale. For me, every line segment is 1.5 mile.

You can't set a radius limit?

Not that I can see.

You can set privacy zones though. Near allows you to configure up to 5 zones to hide your presence. You define a privacy zone by growing/shrinking a circle anywhere on Google Maps.

I'm still debating getting the 3G version. Bah.

Well with the amazon bundle it includes the 8GB stick ($30) and Super Stardust Delta ($10). If you were already planning to get those anyway its only $10 more to get the 3G version then buying Wifi and the other two separately, and it comes with a free month so you could consider that $10 to be that one month + the future ability just in case.

That is unless theres a better version somewhere I didn't know about.

Why is everybody complaining about the way the case smells? Did I get the only normal one? The hell does yours actually smell like?

yeah, mine doesn't really smell funky either. just smells like the fabric that lines the case. maybe a little bit of a glue smell. nothing terrible.

Arrrgh!! C0-1109-2 error when trying to copy content over from ps3!!!
I activated my account already.. wtf gaf!?

I don't know what "C0-1109-2" is. The Vita error code pages on the net do not include it.

If you access Settings > System > Error History, you may be able to see a log and explanation of the error.

Uh, so I just used my Vita in complete darkness, and I noticed these strange dark shapes on the screen when it goes dark(like during fade-outs.) I'm wondering if it's some kind of weird light-bleed issue. The pattern is really erratic.

At first I thought my screen was just dirty, so I wiped it down, and then I changed media, from Hot Shots Golf to The Dark Knight Rises trailer, but the same thing happened. When the screen changes to a dark tone (like a really dark grey, almost black), I can see these black spots scattered on the screen.

Can someone else try this so that I can not think my Vita's defective?

I smelled my FEB case a few times too, after reading posts complaining about bad odor. So far so good, but the case is a little tight. Other than that, not a big deal. It's just a protective case.
I was hoping I'd be able to put the power cord in there too. Can't even fit the adapter in there.

Welcome to the wonderful world of OLED screens. You have a normal screen.

You should only see them in a darkened room on a black background.

So this is something that affects all oled screens? It's a bit distracting playing In the dark and seeing this.

Ah, found a pic that illustrates similalrly what I'm seeing (someone else's vita on an n4g thread):

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
Shinobido 2 reviews are coming in and it looks like I didn't pick wisely.

Game Informer 6.75 (Although they say the stealth bits of the game are really good, it's the action that lets it down.

Okay, sorry, I'm a newb when it comes to screen technology that is newer than LCD or plasma.

Thanks for the info, guys. I was starting to worry.

Wonder if that's part of why Sony's going with CLEDs? For that matter, wonder if they can be made good enough for small screens in time for a Vita revision?

Oh, noooooo. Was looking to pick this up at Target this week. I'm going to check out a few more impressions and videos, but if anything else there's always Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus to fall back on, but I've played that so many times already >_<

(still a great game, though)

Don't let crappy reviews scare you. I have this preordered as well and I bet it's good enough for its price.

I couldn't care less for reviews.

Because with OLED they can't compete with koreans right now. (funny since Sony was the original inventor of OLED technology)

Fuzzy

I would bang a hot farmer!
Saving $100 to wait and NOT get a mediocre pack in and a poop case is a wonderful deterrent to buying early.
It was a little different for us Canadians since our FEB came with the WiFi Vita. For an extra $50 we got the following in addition to the WiFi Vita instead of waiting a week:

Case
4GB card
Little Deviants
Uncharted GA (thanks Best Buy, other store didn't give this for free)

All that for $50 is great.

Is anyone else having trouble purchasing games from the store? It keeps saying the credit card on file isn't valid, but just an hour ago I bought Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Given how good PSP games apparently look on this thing, I am seriously regretting my UMD-heavy PSP library.

Oh well, still can't wait to get it.
I'm glad I mixed it up some at least. Either I got good PSN sales, or the UMD games were usually in LEs and had some sort of incentive to getting physically I couldn't have gotten via PSN.
I got the same case and it reeked of cigarette smoke. Doused it in baking soda for a day and that took care most of the smokey odor.
That's odd, and here I was thinking I'd avoid the smelling case problem by going with Hori. Still, if Baking Soda does the trick then I guess it'll take a bath in it initially.

Hmm, I like the FEB case.
I thought I would like the FEB case since it looked similar to the Hori design, but it feels more like a knockoff than a competitor. The cartridge flap feels loose and flimsy, and the cartridge pockets themselves feel designed to hold something other than Vita carts. Not even being able to see which Vita cartridge is in which slot without habing to pull it out feels like a minor but still present inconvenience. Finally, there's the smell.

UMvC3 player matches are pretty laggy at the moment, even with same region searching. Hope it gets better over time.

I just received the official Sony Vita travel case from Amazon today and it's pretty nice. It also doesn't smell like feces which is a plus.

Hmm, after taking a much, MUCH closer whiff, yeah, my case does smell like cigarette smoke, problem is, so do the edges of my vita now. Any way to get that out?
