It's quite fun. It's just a shame that it's restricted in Matchmaking to Anniversary maps.

I think what made it so great is the movement speed and the lack of AAs, even though I thought I would still want sprint.

Is bullet damage also increased?

Yeah, I've been playing a little more lately. I removed most of the people who played Halo to make room for Gears players when I quit Halo because Armor lock made me rage so fucking hard. Going to need to re-add some Halo people when I get better.

They vote HaloBall over BOOM! Ball...

No, but the faster movement and higher gravity help mitigate its effectiveness, although it's still head and shoulders above everything else.

That makes sense. I thought a few times it seemed my last DMR bullet went through shields to make a headshot too, it was a bit odd.

So if the final shot connects on a 1 shot remaining shield to the head it's an instant kill?

Yeah, there's bullet bleed-through AND melee bleed-through. For example: in Anniversary with the magnum it's 2 body shots + 1 headshot for kill. Shields won't pop after the two body shots. Same thing happens in TU slayer games.

Wow, that's nice. Glad to see I came back when shit got improved a little.

Thanks!

Depending on who you ask shit either improved a lot or got "totally broken".

Personally, the TU and Anniversary extended Reach's lifespan to Halo 4's release. Prior to those two additions to MP I was ready to focus my online gaming on a combination of Halo 3, Starcraft 2, and various sports titles.

343 really came through, even with Frankie as their leader.

Totally broken is extreme. It definitely took away from the game though.

About the only problem I have with the Anniversary stuff is this one thing on Prisoner, when you can spawn right in front of an enemy on that Overshield ledge on the 3rd floor. Happens too damn often.

Currently sifting through Living Dead for the Defiant achievement. I think I've heard more 4 year olds in one game of Living Dead than I've passed through at a mall. So mind-numbing.

Although I managed to get a decent moment:http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/FileDetails.aspx?fid=26702780&player=Oml3t

You'll notice I choked after the Killtrocity, but pulled through.

edit: Leave Living Dead to play Anniversary FFA. First game voted on is TU Zombies.

The TU gametype and the Anniversary gametype are very different things (although both are made possible through the changes made in the actual Title Update).

The Anniversary gametype stripped away AAs, and then made key changes:

-Stronger pistol w/damage bleed

This was done to emulate the Halo: CE pistol's 3SK, 2 shots to the body/head and then 1 in the head get the job done. It's easy to count, the visual feedback on the shields is exaggerated because of the increased damage, and clear to the player.

-Weaker melee

Also done to emulate Halo: CE's more moderate melee damage. Because of these weaker melees, the visual feedback on shields is still useful because a melee won't kill you while you still have shields.

-Faster movement and higher gravity

Because of this players move faster, both on foot and through the air, and it's a little more difficult to tag people with the pistol than in default movement.

-Pistol has a slower rate-of-fire, less bloom.

Kill times are very fast in Anniversary, even with these changes. Obviously with the default pistol, you'd have a lot more spamming, so this was a necessary counter-balance.

Trying to emulate CE gave the Anniversary gametype focus, even if the differences between the Reach and CE engines and the limitations of the Title Update had it falling short. I wish I could say the TU gametype enjoyed the same degree of quality, but it just doesn't. It plays so much like Reach, only with an upset weapon sandbox and a diminished feedback system, so what's the point?

Anniversary feels terrible in my opinion. The attempts to emulate CE totally fail and make me more pissed off that they didn't try to just put Halo CE's MP on Xbox Live for the Remake. I'd rather play the modified Reach that the TU provides.

Really? The Anniversary gametype is different enough from Reach that I think it at least warrants a playlist. It is pretty much the only AA-less standard slayer/objective option in the game altogether, so there's that, too. The TU gametype just feels like a shittier version of Reach, and if you thought Reach was shitty in the first place, well...

MLG is much better for that, the Reach pistol is terrible at trying to be the CE Pistol, I'd rather use a NB DMR. The movement feels off in Anniversary, it's shitting all over my nostalgia as well.

I'm not saying it doesn't require a playlist, I just don't care to play it. I tried a couple games in that playlist when I got the download code from a generous Gaffer, and never played it again. It feels like shit, and the Reach Pistol beefed up still shoots like shit with the way the gun mechanics in Reach are, and the shallow clip.

I know, you can actually five shot someone without it becoming a spam fest, what a terrible fix!
