WAT

Haunted got banned!

For what?

I hope it will be short.

I like the gryro aiming, but I wish it was as sensitive for normal weapons as it is for the sniper.

Pistol aiming with the gyro just takes too much effort, imho. A bit more sensitivity would feel a lot better.

Normal. Aiming is pretty hard with twitchy sticks. And, I like to hold the Vita at different angles so doesn't work for gyro controls.

It was one of the big complaints with Uncharted 1. Things take way to long to kill. Maybe, it had to do with the weak weapons where a pistol did same damage as M16.

Doesn't the gyro work with relative movement, meaning it doesn't matter if you switch your holding position?

And in no way UC1 enemies are bullet sponges if you play the game right. Yes, I know this was a common complaint (especially from people who praised Gears), but if you aim for the head and learn how to use pistols Crushing is a cakewalk. You can't spam ARs and shotties, those are for blind fire crowd control and really close combat.

Did you increase gyro sensitivity in the menu? I did make it a bit more sensitive and IMO it feels better that way.

I don't understand the black market.

I go to black market section.

I go to near.

I go to the map, I select myself, and I have a "not sent" gift (with a green arrow pointing up).

I check the gift: "You have a exchange offer. Reclaim it in Uncharted: Gold Abyss Black Market". It's marked as "not sent yet".

I go back to Uncharted, to the black market. No new exchanges.

this is just my speculation, but just like everything else Near, you don't actually connect to other people's Vita for Near functionality so Black Market will work like that too.

so in Uncharted Black Market, you pick which category you're trading to other people, go to Near to upload the setting that you're offering a trade. then you have to wait for some time to see if other people is trading with you. you sent the treasure later when you found someone, not right after you set the black market.

in your example, when you select yourselves, it show which gift you're giving to other people, it's marked as 'not sent' is simply because you haven't sent it to anyone. wait for some time and when you open Near again, someone might have already received it from you.

This is not a "straight-to-video" Uncharted. Great game. Second best in the series behind Among Thieves!

Agree.

I really can't understand how this game can have a 80 in Metacritics. Seriously.

Is like Uncharted 1, a great single player experience, but it enhance the low points of Uncharted 1 (lack of stealth, lack of puzzles, lack of replayability), keeping the high points. Is not only gorgeous, it even have that kind of details that amazed us in the first uncharted, like the animation interpolation and the clothes that goes wet in contact with water. Also, the gyro aiming is a good way to counter the smaller analog sticks of Vita... if you increase a little the "motion control sensibility" in options.

The only low point that I see right now is the forced touch control. I can deal with the touch puzzles, or even the tilt to keep balance, or the zoom level. But I really hate the forced touch menus (seriously, why?) and machete-melee swipe. If they make it an optional "tilt analogs in the direction of the arrow", the game would be nearly perfect.

I was very disappointed in this game being a huge UC fan. It is just not as polished or fun as the console versions.

I found the sniping controls in the demo to be pretty difficult. Manageable, but hard. I did U2 and U3 on Crushing, but after the demo, I don't even know that I'm going to attempt it.

A search through his post history led me here. Free Haunted.

Maybe "port begging" in the Fez thread (just a guess). Hope he's back soon.

Anyways, I finally put in a few hours with this last night. Aside from being a bit annoyed with all of the unnecessary touchscreen parts (no I don't want to rub dust off a helmet), it's fun. The aiming is wonky, but I'm adjusting to it. I don't like the new characters very much but Nolan North is still great. It's basically what I expected, underwhelming compared to the rest of the series, but a decent take on the formula. It's more Uncharted, which is good enough for me.

p.s. - mixed thoughts on the visuals. It's impressive for a handheld game, but the sub-native resolution and the nasty aliasing drag it down. Here's a conveniently downsampled pic:

Ok, I gave in and bought the Treasure Map DLC pack.

Sort of cool, you just click it in your journal and see a map with call outs for all the little collectibles and photo locations.

A few issues that make this a let down:

1) The map is static. You don't see your current location on it. Lame. Just a still image.

2) The maps are often a bit confusing and overly complicated. Usually if rooms have multiple levels they fuck it up, or they make simple ares seem far larger and denser.

3) Those two things combined make this Treasure Map DLC less useful than it should be. Still image maps of questionable quality should already be in a full (higher than average) priced Vita game. I don't feel like I got something special for a few extra bucks.

To not just have hate here... I think I might like this more than PS3 UC1 now. About half way though and it's starting to click. Aiming in Unit 13 is still better, but I'm impressed this game was even attempted on a handheld, cool stuff.

Can someone tell me if collectibles and weapon kills carry over to my 2nd playthrough? Going for the Plat when I beat this game.

Charted! - Crushing.
Ditto for me. Although this trophy came along for the ride...

I'm qualified to say that they most definitely do carry over.

One tip I will pass along to those of you purchasing games digitally (whether it's this one or any other). When you're done unlocking everything, back up your game on your PC. That way you can safely delete it from your Vita without risk of losing your progress should additional expansion DLC come out. This is the best way to approach this obstacle seeing how save games are tied directly to the application data.

Question: Chapter 9 I guess it may be a spoiler to some but
what kind of angle do I need to be on to take a photo of the map? The prompt never comes up.
I've tried everything & it's annoying.

Is it the map
in the loft at the enemy encampment? If so, I had the same issue. You have to advance the game a bit first, then it "unlocks". For those actually looking for the collectibles, this is just bad design.

Yes, that is the one. Figured something like that would be the case, but what a stupid idea and game design.

Can you zoom in on the maps from the Treasure Map DLC? It seems some of the images have text but I can't read it....

Edit: nvm, I'm an idiot. Tap to expand

Same here, and I don't really find anything that would justify a ban. Maybe his posts in the FEZ thread was seen as port-begging or something. Or he wanted to be banned voluntarily. :(

I bought the treasure map DLC but how do I bring it up in game? I can only pull up Drakes journal and the isnt very helpful.

[EDIT] nevermind have to install the patch.

My big hands got cramp trying to play this for extended timies, then I bought the trigger grip add on at gamestop for 17 and man do they make a difference. So much better almost like holding a PS3 controller. If the vita was made with this shape they could have also included L/R 1 and 2 buttons.

It's very disappointing that like Uncharted 3, there are none of the cool unlockables from the first two games. It looks like all the collectible stuff just unlocks trophies, unless I'm missing something. Bring back Doughnut Drake goddamnit :(.

For a launch game this is truely awesome.
It may not look like a ps3 UC, but the gameplay is so crisp

This handheld man.

I think Naughty Dog said fat drake made it tough for them to make doorways or something. lol.

I just realized that I could beat all of the platforming segments using my feet. Gamechanger?

Also, fuck this stupid 20 piece puzzle. I am way too baked for this shit.

Beat the game in a day (yesterday) on Normal, phenomenal one no doubt. It could become the best in the series for me, it's what I wanted Uncharted to be all along.

The balancing and the melee swipe stuff is the only stuff that I'd rather not be there. The other stuff isn't so bad. Really liking the game so far though. Great balance between combat and exploration/traversal. I like all the different mysteries/collectible stuff.

I totally agree. At least make the gimmickry OPTIONAL! I personally enjoy the climbing/exploring in Uncharted as much (if not more) that the firefights so I'm loving the game so far

I'm at Chapter 25 or so and am really impressed with this game. I think they have handled collectibles in a very cool way. And maybe more importantly they hide them away on alternate paths more often than in the console games, so all that together really helps the exploration side of things. They also give you a lot of opportunity for climbing kills which I love.

Why is this thread moving so slowly? : (

People are too busy rubbing one out? =D

What's the deal with the Black Market? These items I get from random drops, can I have duplicates of the same item or only one at a time? I'm not far in, only just finished Chapter 3, had 4 drops already, 1 Common, 2 Scarce and 1 Rare. Obviously not going to put anything on yet until I've perhaps finished at least one play through.

Also, putting the stuff on Near; If I was to go to a central area, such as in the city, put a piece up for trade, would I have to return to that area to receive the trade?

I just charted on normal.

Wow that was amazing. Some of the choices were terrible, like putting melee on touch. I hated it every time i had to melee. I HATED those final boss fights. Horrible. Apart from that, it was fantastic. Gorgeous in every sense, and i loved the story and characters.

i think this one tops Among Thieves as my favourite Uncharted game.

Elena is still the best Uncharted girl.

Also, whoever had the fucking bright idea to map paddling to touch needs to go fuck themself. That was terrible and i felt like throwing the Vita at a wall. Especially when you needed to do it fast to escape the waterfall. Took me about 10 tries. Ugh.

Also the stupid jigsaws got on my tits a bit

And the log balancing, ugh

ANYWAY the game is still utterley brilliant and right up there with Among Thieves as the best Uncharted games.

Doughnut Drake's omission in UC3 was one of my biggest complaints. Playing through Among Thieves as DD made it so much more funny every time a roof/ladder/bridge/etc. collapsed under Drake's weight.

Uncharted is a huge franchise on GAF.

Rest of non-media hype world? Not so much......

Well, obviously it's not CoD or Halo or Mario size, but Uncharted has gotten to be a decently well known franchise. I know tons of people who never go on forums and only buy like 1-3 games a year who love the Uncharted games. I would say it's about as big/well known as God of War now.

I think I'm almost done with this. I think it's a lovely little game. The level design is sort of different. It's not as "linear." If Uncharted 1-2-3 were straight lines, this game is more...rectangular. There is a lot of doubling back on paths you've already taken...and you sorta explore small areas a few times over. I don't know if I like this. Sometimes I get a feeling of deja vu.

I think the game looks best in the daylight...but they keep going for night time. I feel like most of the game takes place in darkness.

The framerate is very uneven, which is my biggest visual complaint. Still, I feel like it looks better as a launch game than any game did on PS3. So they will surely nail the sequel :D

Some of the choices were terrible, like putting melee on touch.

Hit square? Or do you mean the swipe up/swipe down moves?

Also, how dumb is the log balancing? *walking along* SHIT!!!! *needs to balance*

Like, what, did he get attacked by a magic gust of wind or something?

Also I didn't mind the aiming. So I felt that stuff was so overblown.

I'm I the only one who actually LIKED the swiping motions for some QTE's and the melee combat? It feel very responsive unlike the awful melee in U2. It actually reminded me of a mini Infinity Blade.

And here's another screencap I took. I love how colorful the game is.

I also liked the touch fighting. It made it feel like I was hitting the bad guys real hard. The only "gimmicky" part I didn't like was log balancing.

Nah, it was only on the logs where he stood on the moss/slime bit that he loses his balance (Well it has been so far that I have seen). I've run straight across logs that didn't have this green kryptonite.

does this game have some supernatural twists like the previous games?
