kinda...

if you want to read.

something happens and she bails from school and never got to graduate, him and everyone else did, went to college, etc and he became a teacher at the high school. While in the boys bathroom he hears a familar voice who says they are gonna do this school thing again (so shes back at school as a student and it will be like the first chapter of the series)

I thought people were just blowing the ending out of proportion, and it was just because of
how Shinagawa became a teacher, which was pretty telling already, but holy shit what a bad ending.
I'm kind of sad I clicked it after staying away from that spoiler for a couple months, but that is just so damn bad. Expectations demolished.

Holy shit, J-Manga has Girlfriends. That means there's an official english licence. That means I could conceivably one day get my hands on an actual copy of it.

Yes.

This is an awesome addition, but I really wish they'd focus on series that have yet to be scanlated/slow scans (aka focus on stuff I'm still dying to read) Bartender/ Kami no Shizuku would be swell, and I'd love them for it.

I just opened the seinen category and randomly picked 20 manga and cross checked them with MU and none of them had any scanlations.

I can't speak about other categories since I'm sure a lot of the shoujo/shounen stuff is already covered by scanlators, but JManga is doing a good job at picking untranslated seinen manga. Though I really have no idea if they are good. I only recognized two good manga and they were by Fumiyo Kouno

Prison School is pretty good. If you can get past the awful first chapter(so awful), it's really funny and the story is pretty engaging. I recommend it.

So what's with this J-manga points system? Why can't I just give them a small amount of money to read what's available elsewhere for free? :|

Or is it just microsoft points and that's basically what I'm doing

can you buy more jmanga points if you end up using more than you get each month? seems kinda stupid otherwise

edit: looks like you can

It's MS points.

Yeah, you're right. I really spoke too soon. I went into the site with specific titles in mind, and quickly scanned the rest not paying complete attention. There are some interesting series up there.

Kimi no Knife: 1-35

This manga's an interesting one on morals. I'd argue that not one, and I mean not one, of the characters are likable, but all can be understood/sympathized for, aside from the obvious villian-only peeps, of course. Things are getting real though. If they really go through with writing off Yuki's sister, I have to wonder how he'll react to having his raison d'etre/ability to rationalize his killings done in because of the blowback from a failed hit of his. Really interested to see where this goes. Art's alright, if not a bit generic.

"Kinda"?

Seriously, such a terrible ending
.

Ha, "ending".

God I hate being reminded of the "ending" that series got when I loved it so much before hearing about it... (._. )

thats how it ends? heh heh heh. im so glad i dropped that shit. and i know i wont have to touch his next series as a bonus.

lol dear lord that is a terrible ending.

yea it was pretty bad :(

to clarify she left due to deciding to go back to her family (which is unfortunate since she apparently did well on her collage entrance exam for a good collage) and according to her grandma she did it for shinigawa's sake

I thought people were just blowing the ending out of proportion, and it was just because of

If it was just shinigawa becoming a teacher it wouldn't be as bad imo, its just all the shit that happened after (she was gonna go to another school until she heard he was there...).

why didn't she meet him also as a teacher instead? that would have made a lot more sense.

Since you're all on the Jmanga topic, let me ask what might be a dumb question: Am I buying this manga, or am I "buying" it? As in, do I get some sort of actual file, or am I just buying the right to view internet-hosted pages that who knows when could suddenly disappear?

I tried looking over the site, but I'm still not sure what the answer to that is.

From what I gathered, you only get access. This was an interview done with them sometime ago

Q: There have been online manga publishers who have, in the past, charged readers for online access to comics, but once these companies went out of business, then "poof!" any manga that was purchased this way was not accessible anymore. With music, you can download an MP3 audio file to your desktop, and it's yours, no matter what happens to the company that sold it to you. Some fans are a little skeptical of online manga on the cloud for this reason. Are you addressing this issue?

Sam Yoshiba (Kodansha): Well, basically since the actual digital comic market in North America is still very small, we're looking at this whole project rather… freely. We are looking at things and trying to figure out what the best system there is to work toward. Now, whether we go with a pay-to-download system, or have it available only from the cloud, that's something that's flexible.

I have no idea if they changed anything since then cause I can't find any info about that on their website

Only part thats annoying with jmanga is, at last checked, once I stopped paying for a month, even though I have over 4000 points to use, I cant buy more until I start paying again, kind of a silly system, imo.

Though maybe I shouldnt have tarried in stopped paying and not have racked up that many points in the first place.

It's her. The new series already has the two main character going further physically than Shinagawa and Adachi ever went.

Congratulations, you just got me interested in her new work.

Edit:

Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo 1 - I'll be honest, I breathed a sigh of relief when
they switched back. Not sure how much fun the body swap would've really been as a permanent thing (though, I did read Pretty Face...). The two leads seem decent so far. Now I guess there'll be six more characters to do weird things like body swapping? I mean, the Seven Witches in the title and all. That or it's the harem size goal. Probably both
.

Bleach - spoilers follow for those who haven't finished Arrancar arc yet.

I haven't watched/read Bleach in a long long time. I recently got back into it and just finished watching the Arrancar arc, and then i went on to read the manga...am at chapter 440. The Arrancar arc was pretty enjoyable for the most part, minus the retardation ("tell me your name b4 i kill you", "i'm gonna tell you exactly how my powers work", "be careful, i'm strong", etc..). Also some of the captains not going bankai was dumb, sometimes it felt like it was a fight between school boys and not people fighting for survival. Also didn't like how nobody died >_>

aaanyways, i liked it overall, especially when it got down to fighting Aizen. And then Ichigo vs. Aizen was niiice.

but... What in the fuck happened? It went into a straight dive to suckiness right after. its like the reset button was pushed. without spoiling much, could someone please tell me if it gets better? :(

Prison School vol 2

This is amazing. The way things progress is mind blowing. It just keeps on escalating with the perverted situations yet somehow maintains a high level of tension. It kind of reminds me of To-love Ru Darkness, but the humor in that revolves around how much Yabuki tries to get past the editors whereas in this, it's legit plot.

I love the chairman and Gakuto is a massive bro.

you can skip the entire arc...since like it seems not even a gram carried over to the newest arc that started two chapters ago. The arc just didnt compare to the Arrancar saga at all.

I honestly loved the Arrancar arc as well. Pacing issues aside, I thought it was very enjoyable.

That said, the following arc (Fullbring) was pretty terrible and had 0 importance in the story other than giving us:

-A bit of character development (For
Ichigo, Inoue, and Chad
)
-A couple of great highlight moments in Bleach. A few chapters come to mind.
-Two good fights.
-A way to return Ichigo's power...which was very roundabout.

The arc does become better than the simple slice of life it is at the beginning, but then by the end it loses all significance as it seems Kubo lost his motivation to carry on with the ideas and clearly wanted to jump to the next arc. If you have the time, go ahead and read through the arc, Bleach chapters are quick reads. But if you want to catch up ASAP, reading a synopsis of the Fullbring arc somewhere like the Bleach wikia will catch you up to speed and you can get straight into the current arc which seems like it will be much better.

One Piece Spoilers

The children are delighted by a robot (Franky?)
The head asks if they know a boy named Momonosuke and is made afraid (?)
The children ask to be saved by the crew.
Sanji tries to stop her, but Nami says she can't turn her back on crying children and wants to stay behind to fight the pursuers.
Franky and Sanji stay behind to fight.

In the room where the crew was held, the PH forces take a look at the after effects of Franky's laser. It seems that only the Pacifistas of that annoying Vegapunk are expected to have this laser technology.
High in the sky a birdperson is talking on a Den den mushi. The four invaders are being taken down.
Luffy's group gets a call from Brook. Before Brook's eyes stands an amazing-looking building.
The bird person's companions are both centaur-like. One has the lower half of a leopard and the torso of a human; the other has the lower half of a giraffe and the torso of a human.
The two are crushed by Luffy and Robin. The den den mushi they had has "CC" written on it.
According to the conversation of Smoker (and his people), two years ago Punk Hazard was just a "normal, stinkin' island." But Akainu and Aokiji's fight changed the weather.

Tsunade rolls up her sleeves and says "Don't underestimate the Will of Fire" and the chapter ends.

So, I decided to start reading this a day or two ago and powered through the above chapters. Pretty decent stuff, but I feel kind of burnt on it now like the end of the tournament arc could've finished it off for me. The first few chapters of the new arc aren't really interesting to me either.

Same sort of thing happened to me with Shaman King after Yoh beat Tao Ren. They're decent shounen but I just don't feel compelled to continue for some reason. Is it worth it to continue?

Edit: In retrospect I should have waited until tomorrow to post this. It'll probably get lost in the Big 3 conversation. P:

Yay, someone picked Kongou Banchou up again! That's one series that hasn't had a translation in a while down. Only like 30 more to go of the ones I'm currently reading. It's a start at least.

Kongou is awesome, love the series. I like the author in general actually. I really enjoyed reading Blizzard Axel.

Oh look, it's Viper.

The battle had a fair end, at least there was some improvement over the 3 brothers arc.

I'm glad you have realized the true potential of Yabuki.

And don't forget, it only gets better!

I'm not quite completely sold on it, but I can definitely live with things if it's going to be 40 pages of harem shenanigans secretly orchestrated by Momo and 5 pages of Yami plot crap.

My Balls is still better though.

Don't worry, it branches out from Yami.

My Balls is awesome
