When is Neocraft updating :(

As always, the server will update when the Bukkit team release their recommended build for Minecraft. I could update now, but the Bukkit build out right now is unstable, will cause crashes, or I could update to Vanilla with no plugins at all.

OOhhhhh, sorry, still noob when it comes to Minecraft, didn't know what Bukkit was or what it did.

Thanks for the clarification :D

Without it playing online would not be very fun, the main one being the Creepers can damage structures. Waiting for Bukkit is no fun though. :(

Well then what's the fun if Creepers can't destroy object? lol, no it'd be a very annoying thing to happen....

Yeah, I went online in Minecraft for the first time the day before 1.2 and it was amazing......now I have to wait lol.

I am getting crazy lag in the Nether in SMP. Anyone else have this problem? The overworld is fine and I'm getting a constant 60 FPS+, but when I go in to the Nether I get like 5 FPS max.

Powered by WHAT?!

Well considering the rollercoaster doesn't work half the time, it probably is powered by EA's Origin certainly is about as reliable as Origin :p

Sticking with the coaster it seems someone else (that crazylegzlu) stamped their mark on it (putting a bit more effort in to it than legacy did ;-) ) :-

Looks rather fetching.

I really have to give a hand to the NeoGAF community. When I think the amusement park can not get any better, it always does.

Im assume with all this talk about the neocraft server being updated - that is why i cant connect to it? correct?

Looks rather fetching.

It would be cool if you could have the lights flash on and on when people are riding the roller coaster in the tardis

You guys definitely need to put some antialising love into your pics.

Those glass domes look hideous :)

Yeah using glass with borders is a big no-no in any glass superstructure.

Too bad default glass is just as bad (maybe worse, because it tries to pretend there's no border and fails miserably).

Some information on the 360 version. Not too much interesting, so I'll just sum it up:

  • Max of 4 players via splitscreen, or 8 via Live.
  • Only people on your friends list can join online games, evidently as an anti-griefing measure.
  • There probably won't be any interaction with the PC version. (SHOCKING NEWS)
  • There might be Avatar accessories to make you look like Steve?.
  • Despite Microsoft mentioning Minecraft as a Kinect-compatible title, Kinect compatibility won't be available at launch. (Not sure how it'd work anyway...)

Not sure if any of that's new or topic-worthy, but even if it was, I'm a Junior, so it's not like I could post one.

Good post. 8 people on LIVE? not too shabby.

I wonder how "uncomplete" the 360 version will launch. I mean, they started the game on IOS exactly as it started on PC --- only create mode with a minimum of objects.

I wonder if the same strategy will be applied for XBLA, I don't even think it fits the platform to actually do that.

I can't imagine it'd be nearly as barebones; IIRC 4J said they were basing it on a then-recent build of Minecraft. Only thing is, I forget whether that was before or after the Adventure Update with 1.8...

Noooooooooooooooo ... died. Damn that game was getting brutal. Hardcore with no arrows is rather challenging.

Had a weird thing happen earlier. I created a portal to the Nether, then went through and fortified my position there a bit. Came back and got some more supplies, then went and finished the fortifications. Almost crapped myself when a magma cube dropped on my head from out of nowhere.

Then I went back through the portal to my base, but found myself exiting a different portal in the middle of a cavern somewhere. Rather odd.

Did you see primitive cave drawings?

Hello, MinecraftGAF, I haven't been around since early OT2, but I have a question on what your opinion and impression of MC: Xbox Edition is. It looks like it's going to be pretty accurate, but then again, I haven't played since well before 1.0 release so I don't even know what the meta game is.

Love the game, wish I had time to get back into it :/

Being able to play split screen is a bit plus for me, and the fact that you don't have to pay for and setup a server if you want to play online. The big drawback is having to play with a controller. The big change from 1.0 is most likely the height increase not too sure if that'll make it into the Xbox version though.

Nope. Found a load of mineshafts while digging my way back down to my base though. I thought I'd wound up in Ranger X world for a while. Unfortunately, while exploring them, a zombie came out of nowhere and pushed me into a pool of lava. Yeah, after all that work I went out like a chump :lol

How detrimental do you think using the controller will be? I know this is slight blasphemy, but to me a big draw is the fact I can play on a tv with a controller, it is a much more relaxing way for me to play games in general. I guess we will need to wait for impressions. I just wanted to see if it was going to be like MC: Pocket Edition where it was going to be released in a much earlier state than where the game is currently at.

Any reason why people make cave spider exp farms and not regular spider exp farms? I wanna make one but I'm worried that there's a reason people don't make them that I'm missing. They give the same amount of exp right?

Why would people do that? Regular spiders can be blocked by a series of 1x1 columns - cave spiders are smaller and can fit through those.

Okay, there is something that I REALLY don't like with the latest update , and that is the yellow-ish color trees/grass takes when placed in a desert biome.

Unless I really missed something there will be just no way to create really green looking Oasis in the desert. (And that's not a good news for Mengy's tree he created in a desert village in the desert on the server)

Oh? I haven't actually seen any grass or trees in a 1.2 desert yet. Could you post a picture showing what you are talking about?

I haven't played Minecraft at all in a week now, too busy building a custom Lego kit for my brother's birthday. I really miss this game when I don't get to play it for a bit...

I can say it does this currently. Because while placing trees around the roller coaster the trees would vary in color because Echo Dome is over a desert for the most part.

small test with all the trees, seems birch and snow biome trees keep their color, but everything else is yellow-ish, even leaves that you previously cut.

Maybe I did not notice it before, but it kind of sucks, the bright green / sand combination is really nice for building things in a desert.

Yeah, that's always been the case, as far as I'd ever known.

I'm more surprised to learn that birch/pine trees use a color more fitting of a snow biome, honestly.

went back to 1.1 and on Neocraft to check that and the grass in Domecity is the same color as in my screen, but the grass that is under Mengy's tree, but in a desert biome is green like in plains biomes that must be why I was confused.

Haha, well your death was better than my recent hardcore game. I died after putting many hours of work into an awesome base and tower only to die while mapping my surroundings when I walked off of a cliff while looking at my map. Twas a sad day.

I really hate the new lava sound. It made me think I had found slimes. Plus, it is all around very annoying.

I agree, it's far too close to the slime sound. I spent half an hour last night digging through a cave because I heard slimes in the area, only to eventually find out it was a lava fall after all.

Other than that though I'm loving 1.2. I started a new map with the same seed I used for my 1.0 world, and wow is it different. The world generator sure was tweaked. The general layout of the land is the same as I had in my 1.0 map but everything is so much more interesting. The relatively flat forest island I spawned on in 1.0 is still there, same basic coastline shape, same double ravine exposed at ground level, but in 1.2 it is now an extreme mountain biome! And I'm talking mountains the likes of which we used to see in the old alpha generation. In fact all mountain biomes see to be much more awesome. Actually all biomes seem more varied and interesting.

I've started a nice base into a small cliffside with a staircase down to a huge undeground double ravine filled with lava and waterfalls. Once I get established, start a farm and animal pens for food and wool and mine up some cobble I'm going to trek to the nearby mountaintop at level 124 that overlooks the ocean and build a huge castle on it's top.

And man, I've used more iron doors so far than I have in a year in the game. I pretty much only use wooden doors now for interior doors where zombies shouldn't be able to get to. I used a wood door for my hole in the wall on my first night and was quickly reminded that zombies now gleefully bust them down. In fact I think they seek the damn door out just to pound on them for the fun of it! I love the sound they make, very intimidating.
