I know we are trying to get to that 3rd thread as fast as we can but the reason we love Nintendo IPs is because they never listen to our crazy ideas

Mario that plays like X Y Z game? really?

You guys would be shot if this was Cuba

X Y Z game plays like Mario not the other way around ever :p

So glad Miyamoto-Sama does not read GAF threads :3

Well sure, that's always key.
It's still fun to imagine, though.

I love them cause they keep making games I enjoy. I would say part of that is staying true to who they are as developers, and not bending to the IT NEEDS X! crowd. I mean not always, there was no need for multiplayer in Metroid Prime 2, but for the most part they continue to do their thing and say fuck you to everyone else.

Did I miss something during the last pages?

Just a rush to get the next thread open already.

By the way, I would actually like it if there was an overworld similar to 64/Sunshine, since just navigating a map is boring. But leave the open world aspect to that alone, and not in the actual levels themselves.

On a side note, my biggest problem with current Mario is that the secrets hidden inside each level has been completely lacking since 64. Now you just get more lives for the secret paths you take, and that's just completely boring. We need more hidden levels dammit!

Why are people who voice their opinion being demonized? Nintendo wants to make games that people want to play, and we are the customers. It makes sense to say what we want to play, and it makes sense for them to listen. That doesn't mean they are completely at our mercy.

It sounds too good to be true, so I don't really believe it, but if anyone here knows some info that BlacknMild2k1 is a safe source then it would be great.
I trust BlacknMild2k1 to post what he believes to be true. He's always been a straightforward guy, and doesn't seem to pull rumors out of his ass.

He's been part of these threads since the initial Project Cafe leaks started last year, and was the guy who was compiling really great rundowns of all the rumors.

If he says something like this, he believes it to be correct - whether his source is good or not, or whether Nintendo changes things around before release is a different story.

EDIT: In fact, those threads were where I was inspired to change my handle here. People got so angry about "Grampa Simpson" at the top of the page reposting the stack of reputable rumors that I felt the need to go ahead and do so.

If they have it running now, they won't change it so it doesn't (unless they fear it'll drastically increase the price).
I don't question Black, as much as his source. But hey, that's the game!
:D

I think that a good concept for a new Mario would be a mix between Super Mario 64 + Super Mario Galaxy. Scattered stars around big areas with emphasis on heavy platforming. Rainbow Ride from SM64 is the closest thing to what I have in mind. Imagine a bigger version of this filled with SMG-quality platforming.

We also need an awesome hub like the castle from SM64.

Sunshine is the only mainline Mario game that I've yet to beat, and I've played all of them. It's an exercise in frustration caused not by the player's own actions, but by fault of the game itself (camera, level design, those fucking blue coins...).[/QUOTE]

Agreed.

Nintendo needs to save their "large, expansive overworlds" for Zelda or Pokemon or a game that could take advantage of it. Other than running around a bit, it's not particularly useful in a Mario game. There wouldn't be any secret dungeons to find, the only meaningful items you could stumble across would be 1-Ups (*shudder*), and overall it'd serve as an unnecessary buffer between fun parts of game (i.e. platforming). It would be pretty though. But I feel like Zelda or Pokemon could take the idea and run with it a lot farther than Mario.

I think Nintendo should use head tracking or at least Wii U controller tracking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw

I know it's an old concept and Youtube video, but I still think it's a good gimmick.

Actually there will be a sensor bar.
Just look at the top of the TV

It would be just silly and a total waste of battery to use the Wii U controller's sensor bar for Wii games

Yes, but for the Johnny Lee head/Wii U controller tracking to work they'd have to put an IR camera on the back of the Wii U controller or put the "sensor bar" on the back of the controller and an IR camera/Wiimote on the TV. The Johnny Lee option of glasses with IR LEDs would work too, but I'm afraid to many people would laugh at them or expect true 3D TV from them.

Exactly. Those were the best levels.

Bring back the Mario 64/Sunshine style!

Galaxy 2 is still my favorite game of this entire gen, btw.

and the hate for DK64 is unwarranted. you guys suck.

Yep, I loved Beach bowl world too. There were a few others like the hot and cold world that were great too. I can understand why people don't like DK64 but I personally loved it.

Sonic Colours >>>>>> SMG1>>SMG2

in 3 months we get

  • Final Name
  • Final Hardware Design
    [*]Final Box Art
    [*]Launch Date
    [*]Launce Price
  • Partners
    [*]Fap Fap Fap

I think these will be done in a September conference around TGS.

Yes, I'm much more interested in games than everything else. I doubt I'll be able to afford one this year, so I don't really care what the exact release date is.

As for the Mario discussion, I really hope we see one this year. I don't mind if they go with the linear Galaxy style or the open mini-worlds of 64 and Sunshine, though I'll be disappointed if it's just Galaxy 3 or 3D Land 2.

E3 is too far away. D:

Also people don't know you're the inspiration for the speculation thread so if all you feel tormented by these speculation threads you can blame Grampa Simpson. :D

That said I believe BnM21.
