I don't get this season. Tyres, is that's what's causing all this rampage? I have no idea where Mercedes was. I'm so bummed.

I've got a lot os sympathy for the guy, but regardless of the reason, if he can't perform, he has to go. Even before the spring he was not that great, he just had a lucky season.

Ferrari actually hurt him by keeping him after his accident. He would've been a hero if he got replaced. Even if he didn't perform in another team, everybody would've looked at him differently.

Bah, you guys are no help. Ciao.

The race was chaos and madness, followed by crazy radio comms, then Alonso and Peter Sauber crying. Really, it is hard to give a summary without writing 23 paragraphs.

Mercedes have such catastrophic races, I don't know if it's just bad luck or shitty race pace, but MY GOD, for a team that's been touted as being the 3rd fastest, they barely scored 1point.

They must be crying... like me for Schumi =(

Whitmarsh is the reason I don't hate McLaren anymore. Well, and Button driving for them, but just not havging to listen to Ron's rubbish and getting Whitmarsh's brilliant trolling has done wonders for their image.

It's a couple of years old now, but I think this was the first signs that McLaren had a new personality with Ron taking a back seat.

I think it counts as the first appearance of 'Trollmarsh' too...

This says it all.

I think Massa is done now it's a given. It's a real shame though because I still think he's talented personally. However the way things have steam-rolled, the unfortunate series of events and scrutiny he's had to endure personally and within the sphere of the team I don't think he was ever going to recover in a fast moving atmosphere like f1. His self belief and psyche overall are probably well and truly shattered so leaving the team probably works out best for both.

What happened to him though? I just started watching F1 this season after a long few years hiatus so I had to go digging into past years standings and it seems when he joined Ferrari in 2006 he finished 3rd overall, 2007 finished 4th, 2008 he was 2nd and only 1 point behind Hamilton. Those first 3 years he showed incredible promise. Then in 2009 he got off to a terrible start and then picked it up in the few races before the Hungary accident. After seeing the accident I'm surprised he managed to come back the next season and still finish 6th which is also where he placed last year. Since 2009 he strikes me as someone who is good but not quite great which is what Ferrari is used to seeing in their drivers and why he seems to be getting so much criticism right now. 6th doesn't seem all that bad to me but when it's for Ferrari I guess it is. I do feel bad for the guy and maybe driving for team with a lesser spotlight will be good for him.

Bad luck. They'll bounce back.

Nine different constructors in the top ten, the only team with both of their cars in the top ten were Force India :)

DLR is talking as if this was HRT's first season.

Sepang marked HRT’s first race of 2012, having failed to qualify in Melbourne.

“I must say, I really enjoyed myself in that race,” de la Rosa commented. “It really was the best race to make my debut with HRT. I don’t think anyone could imagine we would finish after starting from the pit lane due to an issue with the fuel pressure that we were dragging over from yesterday. I was penalised with a drive-through penalty, we completed our first real pit-stop… to sum up, a lot of things happened but, in the end, the car held out really well given where we were at the beginning.

“We have to improve many things but this was a perfect test. My team-mate also finished, so that’s doubly satisfying. I’m very happy for the team, we accomplished our objective. Now we have to go a little bit further.”

I meant more the incessant critique. After the incident having to answer the questions of 'is he still as good', having to yield to Alonso as a team mate during a period of trying to rebuild himself. Being completely outclassed by Alonso consistently and having to deal with equally consistent terrible calls from his side of the garage. Then just falling further back down the field as a whole. Just last year alone his on track altercations with Lewis and some other drivers coupled with the media attention on both him and Ferrari for not delivering really showed a shift. He seemed to always come out worse off and his blame game behaviour didn't help with getting him back on track, he became increasingly irritable and vocal. I think just a lot of smaller and relatively mild issues have spun out of control with him and it's gotten to a point where there is simply too much for him to do to be redeemed. There are limits to everyone's abilities and expectations on Massa won't match up with where he is now because there's simply too much to tackle now. /
Yeah, HRT needs to just give someone else a chance i'm bored of their unreliability and lack of improvement. I think it was Monza last year where they were the only team to not bring any upgrades or changes to the car at all to a track where it was definitely needed.

So did Vettel actually stop the car in the end? Last thing I heard was "emergency stop stop stop".

Related, I personally reckon he threw away a pretty good chance at third. Idiot. I wonder if we'll see the same overexcited mistakes this year that we saw in 2010.

Karthikeyan said he spoke to both men to say sorry after the race and, although aware of how costly the tangles could be, he believes backmarkers are sometimes not given enough respect.

"Some of these guys when they lap you, they take the Mickey out of you," he said. "They come and try to push you out of the way to get back on the racing line.

I feel bad yet at the same time pity for Narain he really sounds like he wouldn't have fought for the position even if his car was fast enough to maintain.

He makes it sound like his car is worth something. The others try to push him out of the way because the car doesn't deserve to be there. He should stop whining and be happy Tata is paying for his drive. At least De La Rosa realises his situation.

Watching the race again on the BBC and Perez staying out that one extra lap is so painful to watch.

Can you please assess where did Kimi go wrong with his strategy? Kim-bots are saying Lotus botched his race with the strategy.

thats a pretty nice shop.

the wait for china will be hard, 3 freaking weeks =(

oh shit nooo!! I thought it was only 2 weeks!!

We need more races! they should've squeezed Japan, India, Singapore with a maximum of 2 weeks gap. That would make it feasible for the teams instead of going back and forth around the globe!

Wow, what a great performance from Alonso and Perez, both in cars that shouldn't be anywhere near first and second. So glad Perez didn't break the car running over the kerbs as it would have been heartbreaking.

Ferrari really should have got rid of Massa before the championship started, he simply isn't good enough.

SERGIOOOOO!!!

Keep your paws off him, Ferrari. He could have won today and he knows it - hopefully he'll see a move to Ferrari so soon would be a step down from Sauber.
