Nah dude, all mandatory reads. Stuff like TWGOK, Countrouble, Sankarea, etc... But I've let many add up for over a month so I'm at 140+ to catch up on.

I've read and am familiar with much of the series that are generally known to most of the posters here BTW.

You can always find something. As for recommendations, it is easier if you are more detailed with what you like and what you have read.

Well, that was intense....Seems Smoker is obviously more powerful in close quarter combat, so Law did a good job of keeping him away and had a slew of advantages in his room. Impressive taking down Smoker.

Now it will be interesting to see what goes down with Luffy. I think Law will be suitably careful, he knows very well not to underestimate him. But I dont actually think a fight will go down at this stage. Either way, it would be crap if Luffy actually lost an encounter with Law, especially after training with Raleigh, it wouldn't make any sense. Also being beaten by a shichibukai at this stage, aside from Hawkeyes (who wont turn up for ages now anyway) would be shitty

I don't know what's worst. Having to deal with a terrible translation, or having to read through a boring battle. I don't know about you guys, but this chapter was BORING. Nothing happened! Kabuto's new attack was cool, but aside from that, nothing else happened. Itachi and Sasuke pulled off a flashy combo attack, but that didn't really amount to anything. That flashback was a contrived mess. Brotherly bond my ASS. Luffy and Ace? Awesome bros. Edward and Al? Bros for life. Sasuke and Itachi? No. Urgh, Kishi i'm begging you go back to Naruto's fight. Boring chapter.

That was Epic. Epic for the win. So last week, we all concluded that Oda wouldn't show us a fight between Law and Smoker. We all assumed he'd be working on other plotlines, and Law and Smoker's fight would be off panelled or covered later on... we were dead wrong. Oda managed to do BOTH of those things in 1 chapter. Talk about an action packed chapter! Poor Tashigi.

Weaklings can't pick their way of death.

If this were any other manga, then Smoker would stomp the fuck out of law, but this is One Piece. That cliched shit has no place here. EVEN SMOKER is no match for Law... he's just way too strong. I always knew that Smoker was no match for him, but this... haha, he's going to give Luffy a fight for his money if they do end up fighting. He (like Luffy) has near perfect synergy with his devil fruit powers. The good news is that Luffy and the rest of team A have arrived. Did anyone else laugh out loud when Luffy happily shots out "Huuuuuuuh? It's you!" Poor guy, things are about the get rough. Is it me, or does Luffy befriend / cross paths with people who usually appear normal, but end up trying to beat the shit out of him?

This chapter was perfect, I can't wait for next weeks chapter.

What in the flying fuck?!? A crotch shot? Nobody wants to see that shit. Anyway i'm going to keep this section brief. The chapter was brief, but it flew by fast. They gave a funeral for a character I give 0 fucks about, and wasted some time with Ichigo and his friends. I was actually glad that "sakiwhatever" got his bankai stolen, since we'll actually get to see it this time. Next chapter should be decent, considering that they're going to start fighting an army. Hopefully Urahara shows his bankai this time too.

PS: So that plotline with Urahara and Ishin was dropped...?

Oh my God, Law is too damn awesome. I knew it was going to be a good fight, but I seriously didn't expect him to take down Smoker, that was just insane. The Opa Opa no mi can be a hella powerful fruit. On top of that, Law's speech to Togashi was just fucking harsh... and made me love the guy even more! And now that Luffy is meeting Law, I seriously wonder if they'll be a fight between these two. I'd hate to think so since Law saved Luffy's life and Luffy seems genuinely happy to see Law. I'm also thinking that the weird tree/straw guy is the real villian of this arc, not Law, but I am curious as to why he's even teamed up with a guy like that. Either way, this arc is AWESOME and I can't wait for the next chapter

A pretty good chapter actually, I'm enjoying the brotherly love team-up here. I'm still failing to see what's making Kabuto reach the level of "Sage" here, other than his appearance becoming even more weirder. The whole sight/hearing shockwave was a pretty cleaver move though, especially considering he's fighting the haxxor twins. Regardless of what moves he pulls out though, I think we all know that Kabuto's going to get raped in the end by these two.

Uh, so the useless Vice-Captain who never did anything but get a one-hit KO by Ichigo and then one-hit killed, had a FUCKING BANKAI?! What a way to asspull there Kubo. I'm seriously thinking this whole "We need to steal Bankai's!" thing is just a way for Kubo to be able to use them in the manga down the road. It's a some what resourseful idea since I know it'd be really hard for Kubo to show every character's Bankai in a legitimate way relating to the story, but it's still sort of a cop-out if it's not actually coming from the owner of the Bankai itself. I'm guessing when the real fighting begins, we'll be seeing a lot of Bankai's from minor character's being used by the enemy.

Anyway yeah I'm sorry but Law handling Tashigi was REALLY satisfying. She's a lost cause at this point. And bringing down Smoke, holy shit.

I don't think Smoker's heart is cold enough to freeze. There was nothing wrong with the exposed parts of anyone Law ever cut. The only thing was that they'd "stick" to other surfaces. Smoker is at Law's mercy and thus he looks like he looks. That's all there is to it. He could probably continue fighting like normal if Law didn't have the equivalent of putting a gun to his face.

Smoker's party are all done too. All in all, he was really humiliated there. Law is such a boss.
Still, I bet Luffy would have been just as successful against Smoker in the same situation.


And a very missable detail: The dragon was Vegapunk's. Whatever that's worth.

Goda delivers again. I was wondering how the situation would flesh out. This is the best way to handle it. Both end up living, and Smoker keeps his mouth shut. As for Law having Luffy's heart, if that theory of Law being a revolutionary is right, then Law might not have it. Wouldn't it prevent Luffy from using Gear?

Pacing has been amazing so far for the new world, considering that this is only the 7th or 8th chapter/episode in.

They undoubtedly have tons of experience, and have been doing it for quite some time. Even if they're chill, they've seen enough of the world where it's believable.

Law was a rookie not more than 2 years ago. He came off as the chill type that wouldn't say that even in this type of situation. The type that got things done efficiently, but was mellow. Now? That's a line I would expect from someone like Kidd (who is young, but still pretty crazy/badass in his own right).

I just think this is a case of a bad matchup. Smoker's aggressive melee style is useless against Law since he'll just shift things round and say "lol nope". And now that the can create ranged rooms he's straight up broken. It'll be interesting to see how Oda handles defeating him.

Although, what's stopping Smoker from turning his heart to smoke and catching Law by surprise?
