Remember the days where you can watch a show on TV and expect it to complete at the end of a run? Those days are DEAD! :D

I fucking called it!

I called it right when it started airing, I KNEW IT!

It makes sense from a sales standpoint, and that kind of stuff is really for the fans. The
Good End
is still totally self-contained though.

Are we talking about Oreimo levels of extra episode trolling here?

Running total: 2

Come to think of it, SHAFT's other maid show (Natsu no Arashi) didn't have any pantsu either. The show made up for it in much, much stranger ways.

I really gotta see this Natsu no Arashi everybody is fawning over. It's pretty much the only Shaft production I havent seen or owned.

Who cares?
They aren't blatant enough to even notice on first viewing.
Dresses are made to sway anyway for that exact reason.
Soredemo doesn't throw panties in your face like so many fanservice anime do right in their OP. It is classy Shaft.

They may not be gratuitous, but the size of those screencaps is.

Well yes, when you pause the exact time and blow the picture up it looks pretty blatant. I even suspect some otaku actually did that. And probably do it with every OP looking for a panty shot.

Oh shit, I saw the other thing that's gonna be in the last P4 bluray too.

Hype out the fucking roof!

The
Margaret battle looks like it's gonna be in there too
it seems.

This has me cracking up.

Have you ever watched people ballroom dancing? (not like Cinderella shit but actual ballroom dancing and especially the country music sort) Even in that classy environment you see panties everywhere. Its pretty much just accepted in dancing. I'm not exactly against it either.

Of course you wouldn't.

Well, they're certainly not gratuitous, but their addition detracts from the original work. They didn't need to and insert them into the work and we all know the reason why they were added.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that they were acceptable just because they weren't gratuitous; that was more an accompanying statement to the NSFW warning. I'm absolutely of the mind that any downgrade in Soredemo's level of class is too much.

I disagree. Even the choice of music seems to flirt with a bit of titillation. It seems perfectly fitting. They were just quick shots anyway. Obviously some of you are not seeing my point of view here but hopefully someone else can explain it better.

The panty shots there are very inoffensive, but the problem is that they are also unnecessary. It's very obvious why SHAFT would consider putting them there in an otherwise fairly innocent sequence.

I suppose this finally brings us to the question of whether or not "classy fanservice" is an oxymoron.

Honestly, the biggest issue I'd have with those is that the time and effort spent on adding them could have been used for something of more value.

Because people have underwear under skirts, which may show when they go up a bit?

Seriously, it's hilarious to see people so offended and outraged by panties when they're presented in this fashion. Even movies from the American 1940s show panties briefly when there's a dance where a woman kicks up her leg or something. People in here are more morally outraged at this than 1940s America would be (other than it being Japanese made...)

Awful.

Who knows, I have not watched the show yet. Surely, there are other things that could have been fixed up a bit for the disc release if they're taking the time to do so anyway.

The thing is, I'm hard-pressed to think of any significant thing that they could have added to the show. If they chose to add in split-second flashes of pantsu, who cares.

I think if all SHAFT fanservice was like that no one would be upset. I guess it's an issue of knowing where it's coming from and what they're capable of.

Soredemo is probably one of the only SHAFT shows where you can make an argument for them not having to fix half the show for the disc release.

Fair enough, then. I agree that this addition is pretty trivial, regardless of how you look at it.
