Now I know how Dawkins feels during his FOX news interviews.
Whether it was established that you had espoused the position or not, the assertion itself was always going to be empirically disprovable, so it makes no sense to say that it would suddenly become disprovable if you were shown to hold that belief. It would become disprovable when hard evidence in the form of box office numbers became available. Hence the use of future and not present tense.
I guess you misread because I went looking for the actual quotes after deciding it would save time to discuss the exact words. Turns out it only wasted time, but what can you do?
