Yeah, you could be right. In fact I think you probably are. There is just so much passion surrounding this game, positive and negative. It's a sequel some of us have been waiting for for a decade, and the "always online" and RM auction house decisions were very controversial...art style, class selection...the list goes on. Everyone seems to have a complaint about this or that. I would have expected them to put their best foot forward for the core audience, and those are the gamers who really needed to check out elective.
/good-old-days fist bump
I keep going back and forth on whether to play softcore or hardcore at retail. I want to be seriously afraid of dying, and have to plan my build to not die.. but hardcore just seems too extreme. Something like a D'Souls like penalty would be enough.. I'm not really into the idea of lag/windows button/earthquake/whatever, resulting in losing 80 hours of a character. Hell, it's even lame if there's some random thing in the game that kills you unless you happen to know what it's going to do.
Am I the only one who feels like this? I feel like the ideal situation would be something in between hard and softcore..
You don't get it. Dying is the BEST part of hardcore! You always get an epic story out of dying, especially if it happens with your friends around.
So I was lvl 59 just about to hit 60 and start my infernorun, hit with a lagspike and a grotesque blew up in my face killing me.
So what? Diablo character progression is almost all gear and resources and not the time it takes to get to level xx. As long as your gear and gold is recovered, rebuilding is trivial.

So is your hardcore stash separate from your regular stash?
the environment didn't bug me as much as the 3D models running around did.
anyone have similar feelings?
feels very torchlight-y
makes me yearn for the gritty pixels of d2
My suggestion to this is the following: Imagine that scenario. Embrace it as fully as you are capable of doing it. YOU JUST LOST 30 HOURS OF "PROGRESS".
Can you imagine it? Now, you have already experienced that situation. You can dive in hardcore now, not needing to fear this.
There's no way I'm playing HC. The first lag spike death would cause me to toss my computer out a window.
Are item drops supposed to be any better in hc mode?
Man, if there's an achievement to beating Inferno on Hardcore... and I'm sure there probably will be... that's going to be one hell of a ride.
Monk still takes damage, though, being a melee character. If you played Demon Hunter right, at least during the opening act we got to play, you wouldn't take a single hit.I think Monk might end up being the best for HC. All that dodge and healing ability has to count for something!
Does anyone have footage of the extra areas that they opened for the beta over the past few months?
I think there was a point where they opened up zones for 48 hours or something.

I did not get to play enough of the Beta but I played enough to know its what I want. Even on my PC with onboard graphics, it ran it ok.
Near Death Experience
When receiving fatal damage, you are instead restored to 35% of maximum Life and 35% Spirit. This effect cannot occur more than once every 90 seconds.

Is that a guarranteed evade or just a massive buff to evasion/dexterity? Only reason I think the Demon Hunter would be better is because her evasion skill is a guaranteed dodge. He still has that evasion mantra thing right?

TQ:IT is a fantastic game.
Witch doctors also have something similar.
What is TQ?

sorceress and assassins are fun classes with fun spells/trapsAbout to commence Diablo II. I played through D1 as a fighter - what do I do this time? Most of the classes seem to be a variation on melee. I guess sorceress is a good bet to mix things up, then? Don't fancy any summoning/pet style classes.
Sorceress is a ton of fun and is probably the easiest class to play blindfolded (as in it's difficult to make a sorceress build that doesn't work). Javazons are also very entertaining (my favourite class to play, personally) and allow you to play a melee/ranged hybrid. Bowazons are neat too but are somewhat less viable. Necromancers can be played without pets, Paladins are actually more commonly played as spellcasters than they are melee classes, and Druids are fairly versatile.About to commence Diablo II. Naw, doing one or maybe two playthroughs before DIII hits, mainly for plot reasons. I'll return and mine the game properly later.Damn dude, if you're playing online I don't know if I'd start so soon before D3. You need at least a couple months to see everything diablo 2 has to offer. And there would still be more.
Strength increases your melee damage by a small amount, and then by a big amount at a certain number (depending on the weapon). It is mostly increased as a prerequisite to using items.Naw, doing one or maybe two playthroughs before DIII hits, mainly for plot reasons. I'll return and mine the game properly later.
Started as a Sorceress and have completed the first quest. What's the good rule-of-thumb stat distribution for her? I've just put some in strength and energy for now, but have no idea what my long-term game plan should be. Fighters in Diablo I were easy: max dexterity then spread points between strength and vitality as required. Not sure about Sorcerers so much. Do the stats behave like they do in D1?
Also, with the three skills trees, should I mostly specialise in just one or is spreading myself out over all three okay?
